00:00 Next to the report by Brando Benifei and Ragoche Tudorake on Artificial Intelligence Act.
00:06 We vote on the provisional agreement. Amendment 808 by Roko. Vote is open.
00:11 Vote is closed.
00:19 And it is adopted. Congratulations on this seminal work.
00:25 I think today is again a historic day on our long path towards regulation of AI.
00:38 We are finally approving from the parliament side the AI Act and so with the final step that will
00:46 take place in council soon, the law will become a law of the European Union. The first regulation
00:52 in the world that is putting a clear path towards a safe and human-centric development of AI.
01:03 We've looked at the impact and the potential of the benefits that artificial intelligence
01:07 bring to our societies and to our economies and I think we have a duty to recognize this
01:12 potential because it is going to be the technology that will be driving us into the future.
01:16 And at the same time, through the hearings, the study groups that we've done here in parliament,
01:23 we realize that clearly there are risks, there are concerns that the intersection between this
01:28 technology and our individual's rights and the interests of our societies bring forward.
01:32 And therefore when we started the legislative journey, once the proposal of the commission came,
01:37 for us it was evident from the first day that we have to work on these two objectives in parallel.
