00:00 OK, now Lisa, we're in flats in Old Vicarage Close and you're having trouble with the lift,
00:07 aren't you? The lift's not working.
00:09 I'm having trouble with the lifts and the stair lifts and everything don't work.
00:12 Yeah, now how long has that been for?
00:14 We've been on it for three now.
00:16 So for five weeks the lift hasn't worked.
00:18 It was taken on the 22nd of February.
00:21 Right, so what are you doing to get out? Is there any way you can get out of your flat?
00:25 No, no way.
00:26 No way at all?
00:27 No way at all.
00:28 So what are you doing for shopping?
00:30 I have to ask friends to come and get it.
00:33 Goodness, aye.
00:34 And I believe earlier on you were saying you had hospital appointments.
00:39 Yeah, I've had three hospital appointments that I've had to cancel.
00:42 It's been my heart to try and get an operation done on my heart.
00:46 And I've had to cancel every one of them.
00:48 Crikey. And that's simply because you just can't get out of your flat?
00:52 I had to cancel another appointment yesterday as well.
00:57 And they've told you to use the stair lift, haven't they?
01:01 Yeah.
01:02 And obviously as you can see, the stair lift is there and you're standing up there.
01:06 And it doesn't work?
01:08 No.
01:09 So there's no way of getting the stair lift up the stairs for you to sit on it to come down.
01:14 And then we've got the other one here, which is right down the bottom of this staircase.
01:20 Which as well, again, it doesn't work.
01:23 And there's no way of calling that up to sit on it to go down.
01:29 And what were you saying you think the reason for that is?
01:32 It's because it's connected to the lift?
01:34 It's connected to the lift circuit.
01:36 Incredible.
01:37 Gary, what do you think of all this?
01:39 It's absolutely farcical.
01:41 Residents are clearly frustrated and they have a right to be frustrated.
01:45 Particularly those who are less able than not able to get to the ground floor.
01:50 Five weeks is a long time for anybody.
01:53 It's all about bringing people together in communities like this.
01:58 Where social isolation is key.
02:00 And at the moment, they're preventing from mixing with their neighbours,
02:04 going downstairs and socialising in the community facilities.
02:08 And more importantly, getting out and about, which is what you want, isn't it, Marlene?
02:12 And that. And also as well, and that, which I was told yesterday by Green Square,
02:20 because that lift is condemned, we've got to have a brand new lift put in when they can purchase it.
02:27 But they won't give us an end date or anything when we're going to get it.
02:31 And I think that's key. We've not been given information.
02:34 I've seen evidence today from residents of letters put through doors,
02:40 no personal contact, asking the residents if they're actually okay, if they need anything.
02:46 And all of this is impacting on their quality of life.
02:50 More importantly for me, this is not the first time this has happened over a number of years now.
02:57 This is probably the third or fourth time that lift has actually broken down and left people stranded.
03:03 So clearly, something needs to be done either to repair it
03:07 and make sure it's a repair that's sustainable or completely replace that lift.
03:11 But don't leave people in the dark and stranded.
