00:03 Next one comes from Vaibhav Singh,
00:13 who is a computer science student at IIT, Roper.
00:18 When awareness is our true nature,
00:22 then why don't we have a natural inclination towards it?
00:26 And why do we get easily overpowered by our bodily
00:30 tendencies?
00:32 OK, Vaibhav.
00:33 Awareness might be your nature, but you
00:53 live by your habits, not by your nature.
01:00 This system that we call as the person, the human being,
01:17 exists as a habit.
01:23 Therefore, it is a system, right?
01:25 A system means a habit.
01:27 A system means something that can proceed
01:32 without any consciousness.
01:36 A machine is a system.
01:37 A machine, even a very sophisticated machine,
01:43 needs no consciousness to function.
01:52 So when we talk of man, these two things
01:58 have to be remembered at once, parallelly.
02:05 One, our nature is awareness, joy, freedom.
02:19 But our habit, our structural habit,
02:30 our longstanding habit, our evolutionary habit is dimness,
02:50 which is in sentience, bondage, and sorrow, which is suffering.
03:12 Now, it depends on you.
03:20 What is it that you want to choose?
03:21 The I, the little self, has a choice.
03:35 It could either proceed towards its nature,
03:43 and if it chooses nature, which is freedom, and pure
03:49 consciousness, and joy, then there are pros and cons.
03:54 There is a reward to be had.
03:59 There is a price to be paid.
04:03 Equally, if it chooses to live by its old habits,
04:12 then again there are pros and cons.
04:13 So that's a choice you and I make every moment.
04:22 What is it we want?
04:23 I like to put it this way.
04:32 Freedom is our love, but bondage is our habit.
04:39 And if you look at people, mostly you
04:42 will find that we let our habits defeat our love.
04:55 When it comes to a conflict between our love and our habit,
05:03 then habit wins.
05:06 Fear, for example, is an ancient habit, and it wins mostly.
05:21 So if you're asking, why do people
05:24 live unconscious lives in spite of consciousness
05:28 being our nature, the answer is, well,
05:34 only those people can tell, because it's a sovereign choice
05:41 each of us makes.
05:44 In the very moment when you were choosing fear,
05:51 you could have chosen faith.
05:55 Why did you choose fear over faith?
05:57 There is no reason.
05:58 It's your choice.
06:03 In fact, if you will reason it out,
06:07 then you are trying to hide your culpability.
06:16 Then you are running away from your responsibility.
06:27 Why are people preferring bondages over freedom?
06:33 Well, because probably they like the rewards
06:43 that bondages bring with them.
06:46 Aren't cages very safe places?
06:52 So if you are someone who has not investigated his value
06:58 system and therefore places a great premium on safety
07:05 and security, you will probably choose in favor of bondages
07:14 if they promise safety of some kind, security of some kind.
07:18 Freedom might be your nature, but you will keep freedom aside.
07:27 You will tell freedom to wait.
07:28 So never talk of man as some kind of embodiment of awareness
07:52 alone.
07:54 So man is sandwiched between these two.
08:02 And man has the choice to choose either of the two.
08:16 And that choice is continuous.
08:21 As long as the human being exists, the choice too exists.
08:25 Your choice would be in favor of the highest possible,
08:43 or you could choose to wallow in the lowest.
08:46 Your choice will never be denied to you.
08:55 At the same time, you will never be allowed to deny the results of your choices.
09:03 If you can remember this, then chances are that your choices will be in favor of awareness.
