00:00Hello and welcome to this new edition of the Economic Journal.
00:10We are starting our edition this Friday in Morocco.
00:13Airports have recorded strong growth in passenger traffic during the month of May.
00:20If the Mohammed V airport in Casablanca only experienced an increase of 4%, other platforms
00:26have boosted their traffic during this period.
00:29Thus, the Rabat Saleh airport showed an increase of 48% of its annual traffic flow.
00:35This performance also concerned the airports of Agadir Al Masira with 40%, Marrakech Menara
00:42with 34% and Tangier-Ibn Battuta with 33%.
00:47Dujdangad and Fes Seis airports also performed well during the past month.
00:54Still with the statistics of the National Office of Airports,
00:58interior traffic increased by 37% over the first five months of the year,
01:04for a total of more than 333,600 passengers welcomed.
01:09This strong progress is explained in particular by the launch in May of new interior airlines,
01:15including Tangier-Oujda, Tangier-Essaouira and Tangier-Ouarzazate.
01:22International economic news.
01:24Senegal will know in 2025 an estimated growth of 10.1% and a decrease in inflation of 2%.
01:33These are the forecasts of the IMF.
01:37Growth projections for 2024 are maintained at 7.1%,
01:42a drop from 8.3% which was initially planned.
01:47Regarding the budgetary policy, the deficit of this year, which was initially estimated at 3.9%,
01:53will be 4.6% of GDP.
01:56It should be noted that Senegal could receive around mid-July nearly 230 billion CFA francs,
02:03as part of the 2023-2026 program of a total amount of 1,150 billion CFA francs.
02:10For the first final review of this program, the country had access to 169 billion CFA francs from the IMF.
02:18We continue our newspaper in Europe.
02:20The European Commission has proposed an annual budget of 199.7 billion euros for the European Union
02:28as part of the 2025 exercise, with the aim of strengthening financing for the priorities of Europe.
02:37According to Brussels, this goal will be achieved by promoting ecological and digital transitions,
02:43by creating jobs and by strengthening the strategic autonomy of Europe and its role worldwide.
02:49This budget will be completed by an envelope estimated at 72 billion euros
02:54for the discounts on the basis of the European recovery plan Next Generation.
02:59The annual budget for 2025 should be formally adopted by the budgetary authority of the European Union
03:05before the end of the year.
03:07Direction now the Middle East, where digital currencies are gaining ground.
03:12According to the IMF, the options issued by central banks
03:16can potentially improve the efficiency of cross-border payment services,
03:21which is crucial for countries exporting oil from the region.
03:25These tools, which are different from cryptocurrencies, require an in-depth examination
03:30and each country must assess its own circumstances.
03:34According to the IMF, the use of national digital currencies for cross-border transfers
03:40could reduce cost of transfer of funds and accelerate transfer delays.
03:45Note that a digital currency issued by the central bank could also compete with bank deposits,
03:50which is likely to have an impact on the benefits and loans granted by banks
03:56and consequences on financial stability.
03:58We come to the end of our edition today. Good luck with the programs.
