00:00They are doctors of medicine who perform the identical tasks and services of their civilian
00:05counterparts except on soldiers, officers and even their dependents in the service and
00:10are up for deployment to some unfamiliar location at a moment's notice.
00:15PTV News anchor William Theo takes a look at one such distinguished physician slash
00:20military officer whose career spans stints in Mindanao, the Mount Province, the commanding
00:26officer of the V. Luna Hospital in the peak of his profession as the AFP Surgeon General.
00:33Good day everyone.
00:37I am here at the Heroes Ward of the V. Luna Medical Center and both to my left and my
00:43right are patients of battle casualties.
00:47We will learn more about heroes serving heroes from the Philippine Association of Military
00:54Surgeons.
00:55So this is an incredible inspiration for all of us and it goes beyond the dictionary definition
01:03of compassion and care.
01:05So stay with me.
01:07Exploring the world of military surgeons reveals the exceptional dedication and resilience
01:12required for their demanding roles.
01:14Working in high pressure, often dangerous conditions, these medical professionals tackle
01:19unique challenges with remarkable skill and endurance.
01:23PAMS is the Association of All Military Doctors in the Philippines.
01:28This includes the active, reservist, and retired military doctors.
01:33So it's a home for all the military doctors in general.
01:38Their responsibilities extend beyond typical medical practice, demanding swift adaptation
01:44to changing situations, and the ability to provide life-saving care under extreme stress.
01:51The main objective of PAMS is really to upgrade the morale and welfare of the military doctors.
01:56Actually all the military doctors are members of PAMS, but we included reservists.
02:01The retired military doctors are also part of it.
02:04It's also part of it even if you're retired.
02:07This examination sheds light on their vital contributions and the profound level of service
02:12and sacrifice they embody, emphasizing their crucial role in both preserving lives and
02:18supporting military missions.
02:20These retired doctors are also our mentors.
02:24They keep empowering us.
02:25So they're very important in our association.
02:31Experiencing people saving the lives of others must be the apex of being a human being.
02:38And I'm really grateful for the V. Luna Medical Center and of course the Philippine Association
02:45of Military Surgeons for allowing me to experience this.
02:49At a time where there's so much uncertainty and there's so many things that are actually
02:55compromising our peace of mind, it's really wonderful to have people to be able to anchor
03:01to and to know that we are in good hands.
03:04So until next time, this has been William Theo for the TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
