00:00Bethlehem, how we doing?
00:01We're fired up?
00:05Alright, I'm Congressman Chris Deluzio from Western Pennsylvania.
00:09If you couldn't tell from the black and yellow, I'm from Steelers country, alright?
00:12Come on.
00:15Little Eagles fans out there?
00:17Okay.
00:18Alright.
00:21Look, I represent a tough congressional district.
00:23I won it twice in 22 and 24.
00:25I will tell you, the corporate bosses, the Republican bootlicker politicians, they spent millions trying to beat me.
00:34Millions.
00:35I didn't have to behave and act like some corporate shill sellout to beat them.
00:39That is not our path back to power.
00:48The Republicans ran these ads, oh, they'd call me, they'd say, oh, he's delusional.
00:52The Republicans would call me some radical lefty.
00:54They call me congressman now.
01:05You've got a new congressman here?
01:06Anybody seen him?
01:08Any town halls?
01:10Is he showing up answering any questions?
01:13If you're afraid to hear from your constituents, this ain't the job for you.
01:26You heard from your former congresswoman, who I know, Susan Wild showed up when she had this job.
01:32You're going to hear from a guy from Vermont who's showing up in a little bit.
01:35I see the solidarity out there.
01:40I'll tell you, I'm a Navy guy.
01:42We got some veterans in the crowd tonight.
01:44There we go.
01:44I fought to organize a union with the steel workers, and I know labor's in the house tonight.
01:52We got labor here?
01:57Look, whether you're on a ship, whether you're serving in Iraq, whether you're in an organizing committee,
02:02you know the power of solidarity.
02:04You know that it doesn't matter where you're from, the color of your skin, how you pray, who you love.
02:08We are all in this thing together.
02:18Look to the person next to you, your left and your right.
02:22Is that someone whose dignity matters to you?
02:25Is that someone whose freedom matters to you?
02:32We know, the oligarchs, they want to divide us.
02:35It doesn't matter whether you're coming from the big city or a mill town.
02:39Farm country or in the suburbs.
02:40We stand together.
02:42We fight for the common good.
02:48Now, we're not going to let them divide us, are we?
02:50Are we going to let them divide us?
02:52Are we going to stand together?
02:54Damn right.
02:55The oligarchs in the White House and the boardrooms, though, they know that's a power they can't buy.
03:00That's the power that you all have.
03:02And that is the power of solidarity.
03:03It's in all of us.
03:04I see it at the town halls, I see it in the streets, I see it in the picket lines.
03:09You feel that strength?
03:11That's right.
03:13And it is exactly why they want to divide us to do what?
03:16So they can plunder our government, funnel tax giveaways to gajillionaires and huge corporations.
03:22It is reckless.
03:23Are we going to let them do it?
03:25No way.
03:26And they do it, you know this, they wrap themselves in the flag.
03:30You see their ads.
03:31They got the stars and stripes everywhere.
03:33By the way, wearing made in China MAGA hats half the time.
03:40And they try to claim they've got some monopoly on love in this country.
03:44It's not patriotic to me to try to cut and kill Social Security.
03:47It's not patriotic to me to try to kill veterans, health care, and the VA.
03:59And it sure as hell wasn't patriotic to pardon January 6th rioters and cop beaters.
04:04These phony patriots, they're waging a war on the American dream.
04:34They've been waging it for a long time.
04:36But I'll tell you what is patriotic.
04:37Standing up as you're doing right now and fighting back.
04:47Look, I'm a 40-year-old.
04:49I'm a dad.
04:50Maybe the grays are coming soon, whatever that makes me in the world.
04:53But look, my generation and folks younger, we're the first generation of Americans since the Second World War.
04:58We don't expect to be better off than our parents.
05:00That is the American dream taken away from us.
05:05People are working longer than ever.
05:07Housing and health care is expensive.
05:09Child care is expensive.
05:11Medicine, you can't afford your lives.
05:12And I don't say the American dream just slipped away.
05:16It was stolen and ripped away from people.
05:18That out-of-control corporate power and the corrupt politicians like Trump and Musk, that's who's been taking the American dream away.
05:34Bernie and I may come from different places and have different stories, but whether you're from Vermont or the Rust Belt or anywhere else, you can see and feel that corporate power that is hurting us, that has hurt the American dream.
05:47And it's true all across Pennsylvania.
05:49I'm from western Pennsylvania.
05:51I love where I'm from.
05:52You come with me.
05:53We'll drive along the 8K Valley.
05:55You'll see what was glass manufacturing.
05:57We'll go out the Ohio River, much like here in Bethlehem, and you will see the steelmaking and what it was that we delivered for this country.
06:04We made the steel that beat the Nazis and the fascists that built the skyscrapers of this country.
06:20And how did they reward?
06:22How did they reward that hard work?
06:23They looked to find the cheapest and weakest environmental rules and worker rules.
06:28They outsourced jobs.
06:30They gutted communities like ours looking to strip and take away our parts.
06:35You know what?
06:36Something has to matter more.
06:38That endless, reckless pursuit of profit at any cost, it is still hurting us.
06:42Here in Pennsylvania, all over the country, it's jacking up prices.
06:46It's killing small businesses.
06:48It's crushing union organizing.
06:50Something has to matter more than just profits.
06:54Our jobs, our safety, this country, our way of life.
07:05People are mad because they should be mad.
07:08We should be mad about that.
07:10And I'll be honest with you.
07:11Donald Trump understood that anger.
07:13He saw that wound in the American psyche.
07:15What has he offered?
07:16Snake oil of hate, division, and autocracy.
07:19That's not the way forward.
07:21We're here to call out that bullshit.
07:23That is not how we go ahead.
07:35Your prescription drugs aren't costing an arm and a leg because of woke culture.
07:40That's not what hauled out factory towns.
07:42Finding a house or buying childcare is not out of reach because a trans person wants dignity and freedom in the world.
07:48That's not it.
07:57We're not going to fall for their attempts to divide us on culture wars when they've got a heel to the throats of the American people.
08:03We're not going to fall for it.
08:04It doesn't have to be like this.
08:06It really doesn't.
08:08Democrats, we used to take on the robber barons.
08:10That's what the New Deal was all about, was power for the people in this country.
08:14We broke their chokehold on our politics, and we can do it again.
08:21We still have some fight in us, don't we?
08:24Anybody here want to just roll over?
08:28Who wants to fight?
08:29I'll tell you this.
08:34When corporate power rips us off, we fight.
08:37When the American dream is under attack, we fight.
08:40When Donald Trump tramples in our Constitution, we fight.
08:44When Elon Musk tries to buy our elections, we fight.
08:48You feel that?
08:49That is your power.
08:50We have it.
08:50We have a way forward, folks.
09:01That's the fighting spirit my party needs, to fight for hardworking people and anyone who will hurt us.
09:07And we've got to make sure that people who work hard have a bigger slice of the pie and we grow the damn pie.
09:12We can do both of these things.
09:13I will tell you something that I think we've got to fight for.
09:18We've got to root out this corruption in Washington.
09:21I serve in the Congress.
09:23We've got to ban congressional stock trading right now.
09:27You guys know it's outrageous.
09:41You're a member of Congress.
09:42You get access to a sense of information.
09:44And these folks are enriching themselves at the public's expense.
09:49We also have to get the goddamn super PAC money out of our elections.
09:52No more big corporations and billionaires buying our elections in America.
10:04No way.
10:06Look, I know you're going to hold the line.
10:08That means we've got to organize.
10:10We've got to get loud and stand together.
10:12When Republicans try to rip away the Obamacare, ACA, people all over this country fought back and we held the line.
10:18And I know we'll do it again when they come from Medicaid and the VA and Social Security.
10:31Let's build an economy that works for everyone.
10:34And let's start with taxing the billionaires.
10:36No more billionaire handouts.
10:48Am I right?
10:49No more.
10:51And we've got to have a labor movement that is strong and powerful.
10:55And I know there are union workers in the House tonight.
10:57Whether you work in a factory, behind the wheel, behind a desk, in a hospital, all hard work has dignity in this country.
11:07And we ought to respect that.
11:09And we ought to make hard work pay off.
11:17But we've got to take on the villains.
11:19We know who they are.
11:20It doesn't matter if you call them oligarchs, robber barons, or corporate jagoffs.
11:26I've got to bring a little Pittsburgh here.
11:29We know who they are.
11:30I know which damn side I'm on.
11:31Are you with me?
11:33Let's go.
11:38I wore the uniform as a young man in my life.
11:40I was willing to risk my life for this country.
11:42And I will tell you, I see threats to our freedom right here at home.
11:46You sense them.
11:47You know them.
11:47But I think we seize this moment to beat back this corporate power and the corruption.
11:53To build a more free, more just, more prosperous America.
11:56Not for just some, but for all of us.
12:07And the fight that we're in, it's a righteous one.
12:09It's a fight that we've got to win.
12:11Now, there's someone here today who's been waging that righteous fight for a long time.
12:18The guy you guys came here to see.
12:23The oligarchs hate him.
12:25Oh, they really hate him.
12:27That tells you something.
12:28So I am proud to introduce a guy who doesn't need much of an introduction.
12:32Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders.
12:33I am proud to introduce a guy who's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been waging that he's been w
