00:00At that time, Jesus entered a village and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.
00:13She had a sister named Mary, who sat at Jesus' feet and listened.
00:18her word. Martha, meanwhile, busied herself with various tasks, until, approaching
00:26She said to Jesus, “Lord, haven’t you noticed that my sister has left me alone?”
00:32With all that needs to be done? Tell him to help me. The Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, many
00:41Things worry and trouble you. Since only one is necessary, Mary chose
00:48the best part and nobody will take it away from her.
00:52This week, from the Word of God
00:58A beautiful passage that speaks to us of this, of this attitude that is proper to the Christian
01:09So, to welcome the Koreans, right? Jesus passes through this city, it's Bethany, isn't it?
01:20We will learn more later from the Gospel of John. And this relationship that apparently
01:25It starts with Marta, because he says that Marta is the one who invites him. And from there it will, well, develop.
01:33a great friendship with that family. We will learn more about it later in the Gospel of John.
01:40Besides being sisters, these two sisters also had another brother, who is
01:45Lazarus. And that family would become, therefore, a family very close to Christ. So much so,
01:52which we also know from the Gospel of Saint John, that, when the
01:57time to return to the Father, when he goes to Jerusalem, he will stay that week, the week
02:03which we call holy. These last, uh, the last days of Jesus among us,
02:11He will be there at the house of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. I would like to emphasize here, uh, that it is not only
02:21It is not enough to invite Christ into our home; we must develop with Him that friendship that
02:29This family managed to have a relationship with Jesus. It seems to me, it's been talked about a lot, I've done a
02:37homily there, and I really love the topic of Mary Magdalene, which, by the way, was the week
02:43In the past, or perhaps the year before, I published about this topic of the series that's on Netflix about Maria.
02:51Magdalena, well, as I write elsewhere, we can say anything about Mary Magdalene
02:56That's a thing, isn't it? Because, well, we know practically nothing more than what, well, we barely know.
03:01through the Gospel of John. But, well, I bring it up now because of the topic.
03:09Because that series, now on this trip I took last week, well, when I can watch television,
03:16Well, I don't watch TV, I watch my tablet, right? I was able to make a little progress to learn more about
03:21This topic, and the truth is, it's a series about Mary Magdalene, well, it's fine, I mean,
03:27Well, it's a story that I know, that this friend of mine, the one who wrote this series, made up.
03:33Right? But it's dangerous, it's dangerous to watch because it weaves together two stories.
03:41parallel. On one hand, the story of Maria is being invented, which we can say whatever we want,
03:47Because in the end, what we know about her is practically nothing, right? Although she has
03:53It plays a very important role, especially in the Gospel of John, but not
03:58We know nothing about her history, we don't even know who she is; there's been a lot of confusion about whether she is...
04:03that sinful woman, the one they were going to stone, or was it that sinful woman who washed him?
04:08the feet to Jesus. And well, that's how it's been done, I recently found a book because
04:13It's a topic that fascinates me, especially because of the relationship Maria had with Maria.
04:18Magdalene with Jesus, where she makes a rather interesting correlation that was
04:23The one I presented to you a long time ago, also in a homily, right?
04:29But the problem is that the story of Jesus is distorted, not completely, and that
04:35That's the bad part, because then it's like it is, but, for example, I'll just give you one piece of information,
04:42There are a couple of interesting facts there. Speaking of Marta and María, in the series
04:48Marta and Maria don't appear; only Marta appears, who lives with her mother, who
04:59Nowhere in the Bible does it appear that she lives with her mother, that is, Martha is only
05:04sister of Lazarus.
05:05And then we started to see that there were some rather strange things going on. It turns out that Lazarus...
05:14He's a Zealot, he's out killing, he's out killing Romans. So, my recommendation is, that series is better.
05:25It's important to be very careful, especially if we're not very familiar with Sacred Scripture. The safest thing to do is
05:33It's that we end up confused, believing things that aren't true, because these kinds of publications, this kind of
05:41Movies or books also intertwine reality with fiction, to the point that we end up believing that fiction
05:50It's part of reality, and it isn't. Therefore, we must separate Sacred Scripture and have other sources.
05:58appropriate when we are going to see a movie that has to do with the subject of Holy Scripture.
06:04So, well, speaking of this, we find that Mary, who apparently doesn't know Jesus,
06:14Because whoever invites him says, and Martha invited Jesus, and Mary, therefore, sits at his feet and listens to him,
06:23while Marta continues with her activity.
06:28I think it's important here that it seems to me that Marta, even though she found him in the street,
06:35Perhaps he's preaching, but he doesn't know who he is. He doesn't know who he is. And that's why he doesn't treat him as he should.
06:44The quote from Matthew 16:16 comes to mind right now, remember. Jesus asks his disciples,
06:51Who do people say I am? Well, that I'm a good prophet, that I'm Elijah, or I don't know, Zechariah, anyway,
06:59John the Baptist, right? And you, who do you say I am? Peter says, you are the Messiah, the Son of God.
07:09And then Jesus said to Peter, blessed are you, Simon, son of John,
07:14Because this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father who is in heaven.
07:19Here it would seem that there is a revelation where Mary is not seeing the human side of Christ.
07:31When Jesus arrives at Mary's house, she perceives something different; he is the prophet.
07:38And the prophet, well, we must listen to him.
07:41Marta, in this context, misses this opportunity and is in the middle of housework.
07:50So, the first idea is really who and what Jesus is to me.
07:57Do you remember that another topic I've discussed with you at different times,
08:02quoting a heretic from the last century, who said,
08:07If Christians truly believed that their God is in the tabernacle,
08:13They would not leave each other, neither day nor night.
08:16You remember when I mentioned this to you, right?
08:17And I've told them, well, it's true, isn't it?
08:19Whose Jesus is to me?
08:24How much attention do I give to Him in my life, in my heart, in the relationship I have with Christ?
08:32Do I truly have Him as God, as Lord of my life?
08:37Because if we had it, think about it, I don't know, it's true that we would have a different relationship with Him.
08:44In prayer, in visiting the tabernacle, etc.
08:50But part of it, already within us, has to do with the fact that we get used to this presence.
09:00We get used to thinking, well, it's Jesus, well yes, well yes.
09:05Ah, it's the prophet who's coming, yes, hey, I invite you to dinner at my house, I invite you to eat at his house.
09:12Yes, and so he took it there and started preparing the food.
09:15Someone had to do it, right?
09:20But what the text suggests is that, like, she was scolding her sister, right?
09:26Tell him to stop and help me, to start helping me.
09:29She left me with all the chores, washing, ironing, and so on.
09:33What? That can wait, I mean, after a while you hear Jesus, he only came to eat lunch or dinner.
09:38It doesn't say to help me make the food; what to do and why to do it is understood.
09:43Well, washing, ironing, etc., everything that's part of housework, right?
09:49It's like sometimes we don't recognize who He is.
09:53And I would like to illustrate this text a little, if you bring your Bible.
09:58Now, let's go to the Old Testament, let's read a text from 1 Kings.
10:07In this text that we are going to read, Elijah is fleeing from Jezebel because she wants to kill him.
10:15It's chapter 19 of 1 Kings, if you have it handy.
10:28He is fleeing from Jezebel, throughout chapter 19, he is fleeing from Jezebel, he goes into the desert.
10:37Then God sends the angel to feed him, he walks for 40 days and finally arrives at Mount Horeb.
10:44It's there on Mount Horeb.
10:47I'm going to skip ahead to verse 12.
10:51To get right into it, I'm going to go to 11, verse 11.
10:58Chapter 19 of Kings, verse 11.
11:02The Lord said to him, come out, he is in a cave, he is hiding in a cave.
11:08The Lord said to him, "Go out and stand before me on the mountain."
11:13The Lord is going to pass by.
11:14First a strong and rushing wind passed by, shaking the mountains and breaking the rocks, but the Lord was not in the wind.
11:25The wind was followed by an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
11:32The earthquake was followed by a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire.
11:39A gentle breeze followed the fire.
11:42When Elijah heard this, he covered his face with his cloak and went outside and stood at the entrance of the cave.
11:52And a voice asked him, "What are you doing here?"
11:55Elijah answered, "I suffer for the love of the Lord Almighty, because the Israelites have broken his covenant, destroyed your altars, and killed your prophets."
12:06I'm the only one left, and they're looking to kill me.
12:09Continue the dialogue with the Lord.
12:13Notice in this text that Elijah is waiting for the Lord to pass by.
12:20And first you hear that tremendous noise, right?
12:27He says, no, that's not it.
12:29Then the earthquake, no, not that either.
12:33Then the fire, neither.
12:36He said, and then he heard a gentle breeze and went outside.
12:41And in that gentle breeze he discovers the presence of God, because he speaks to God, right?
12:49There he is already talking to God, they have killed all your prophets, only I remain, etc.
12:55See how important it is to discover the presence of God.
13:00Of a God who is not in the noisy.
13:08Regarding the second coming, if you recall what Jesus tells us in the Gospel, he says,
13:15You'll hear rumors of wars, don't go there, it's not the place.
13:21It's not going to appear in an extraordinary, dramatic way.
13:30And this presence is constantly near us, but we don't discover it.
13:37Because perhaps we always wait for great miracles, great events, great things to say,
13:43Ah, here is God.
13:47No.
13:48God moves in the silence of our hearts.
13:53Especially in the charismatic sphere.
13:57When people fail to establish a good relationship with the Lord.
14:03He thinks that when he no longer feels good, when he no longer sweats, when his stomach no longer flutters,
14:10When it no longer falls into rest, God is no longer there.
14:13And no, God is always there.
14:20Because God moves in the silence of our hearts.
14:24It seems he's not there.
14:26But Mary intuitively says, this is more than a prophet.
14:31And he places himself at the feet of the Lord.
14:35He begins to listen to Him, to talk with Him.
14:39Imagine how many things I could have asked him.
14:43I sometimes compare these kinds of experiences to when people invite me out for lunch or dinner.
14:52He's inviting me to his house, isn't he?
14:53And then, at the table, or in the living room, or wherever the family starts to gather, the questions begin.
15:03Hey, Father, what's this?
15:06And this again, does the father have to intervene?
15:10Leave the father alone, will you?
15:11He came to rest.
15:13They're still doing the same thing, aren't they?
15:14And I tell him, no, well, if I were passionate about football, then I would talk about football, wouldn't I?
15:21But I'm not passionate about it.
15:22I'm passionate about this.
15:23So, when they ask me, I am happy to preach in their homes.
15:27To answer any questions we sometimes have.
15:30And so in our masses, well, we can't, uh,
15:33Father, could you explain a little more to me?
15:36So, how did Magdalena's situation go?
15:37No, it's not the right time.
15:39This is a military moment.
15:41I can't ask questions.
15:42Sometimes, many of us who come to mass are there because of work situations.
15:47or some other issues, we can't be in any group
15:51and we can't ask.
15:53And sometimes we're in a group, and sometimes we ask questions.
15:57But what we asked, well, it didn't quite satisfy us, did it?
16:02But the father comes to the house for lunch.
16:04Are you going?
16:09Father, bless us.
16:10Father, you can't explain this to us.
16:13Father, I didn't understand this.
16:17But if they leave the father in the living room while everyone else is there,
16:20I mean, anyway, if they put me there in the living room and give me a snack.
16:24Well, even if it's just a small glass of wine, it doesn't matter, right?
16:27And you can be preparing everything else.
16:29But they don't think it would be a waste.
16:35Well, maybe because they didn't realize what would happen if I didn't show up wearing a clerical collar, right?
16:43I'm always like this, right?
16:44If I don't dress this casually.
16:46Sometimes here when I'm at the parties, when we're preparing for the Easter celebration,
16:51There are people I know very well who walk right past me and don't even say hello.
16:59He's doing something else, isn't he?
17:00But he sees me as just another one of the people here.
17:04And suddenly he says, "Ah, Father!"
17:07I didn't recognize him.
17:07And sometimes we don't recognize Jesus.
17:13We do not recognize it in the silence, in that breeze when we are praying.
17:19We always want our prayers to include extraordinary, resounding things.
17:24And I often think that's why people don't pray, because they expect that.
17:28He hopes that God will reveal himself to him in this way.
17:29Oh!
17:30No, and I felt, and then.
17:32No, well.
17:34No.
17:35Elijah said, it's in the breeze.
17:41In that silence, in that peace that arises in the soul when one prays, the Lord is present.
17:51Learn to discover it so as not to waste time and to be able to learn from Him.
18:00But Jesus does not only appear in prayer.
18:05We don't find Jesus constantly, but we don't see him.
18:12Jesus says in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 25, verses 31 and following.
18:20There he is speaking in the context of the final judgment.
18:27In that text he tells us that he is going to separate the goats from the sheep, some for heaven and others for hell.
18:39And the difference will be that they didn't recognize him.
18:43I was hungry and you didn't give me anything to eat.
18:47I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink.
18:51I was imprisoned and you didn't visit me.
18:54I was sick and you didn't come to see me.
18:56And then they'll say, "Sir, but when did that happen?"
19:03I haven't seen you.
19:06And he says, yes.
19:07Every time you did it to one of these, my little brothers, you did it to me.
19:14And this always happens when I prepare a homily and it has to do with topics I'm not very involved in.
19:25I question my own Christianity.
19:28Because I'm always busy with a million things.
19:35And that's fine.
19:37But I shouldn't neglect others because of them.
19:41And I wondered, when was the last time I talked to a poor person?
19:50Sometimes we just reach into our bag and maybe give him a thousand peso bill.
19:54We don't know who he is, or what his problems are.
19:59I don't even know what I'm going to do with those thousand pesos.
20:01Maybe he's going to get them high on drugs.
20:05But we don't stop to talk to Jesus.
20:09He came to see me.
20:11It passed by me like a breeze.
20:15That person in need passed by me.
20:18And I felt sorry for him.
20:20And how great, I got it.
20:21And I gave him alms there.
20:24You asked him, "What's his name?"
20:28And what is your name?
20:30And what are you doing here?
20:33Where are you going to sleep tonight?
20:36Did you eat yesterday?
20:38Why is he here?
20:40Are you going back home?
20:42Is he/she a migrant?
20:42Is he poor?
20:43Didn't you talk to him?
20:48Didn't you answer him?
20:50Because like Marta, I'm a first-class Marto, right?
20:58I'm always busy.
21:02And remember this tremendous passage from Luke 10, right?
21:06The Good Samaritan.
21:12A priest passed by, saw him lying there, and did nothing.
21:15Then a doctor of law came by and did nothing either.
21:18In other words, the religious people of his temple.
21:21And he did nothing.
21:21And then someone passed by who they consider to be a pagan.
21:29A Samaritan.
21:31In other words, the Samaritans, for them, just like when they destroyed Samaria,
21:35They drove out all the Samaritans and then settled a lot of foreigners there.
21:40Well, everyone, especially back then,
21:44They recognized that this was a land of pagans.
21:47He is a pagan, a Samaritan.
21:48Ah, so the Samaritan stopped, healed him, and put him on his horse,
21:54He took him to the inn and looked after him all day.
21:57And on the day he had to leave, he gave money to the innkeeper so that he would continue to take care of him.
22:02And he says to him, "Who is my neighbor?"
22:05We just saw the brothers.
22:08Who is our neighbor?
22:10Last week, it was the gospel of the week.
22:17And sometimes we are not that neighbor.
22:20And sometimes Jesus passes by us, he visits us.
22:24When was the last time you went to see a sick person?
22:26When did he go to see a prisoner?
22:30And there is Jesus.
22:32But we have a lot to do, like Marta.
22:36And someone has to do it, certainly.
22:39Someone has to make the food and someone had to wash the dishes.
22:42And someone had to do all these things.
22:44But isn't there another time to do them?
22:48People say, I don't have time to pray.
22:52Well, no, there's never time to pray.
22:54There's never time to talk to a sick person.
22:56There's never enough time, no.
22:58That time does not exist.
22:59Because our priorities come first.
23:02We need to buy time.
23:06We need to make time for Jesus.
23:08Marta didn't make time.
23:11He continued with what he was doing.
23:14It's great that you invited him.
23:15Imagine how magnificent that is, right?
23:17He invited Jesus to his house.
23:19Many of us have invited Jesus into our home.
23:22But we have it in a little corner.
23:30Sometimes when people keep cooking and tell me, well, we're going to finish.
23:35No, I'm going to the kitchen.
23:36Here I am with you.
23:37The kitchen is just like any other part of the house.
23:40I don't need to be on a sofa or anything.
23:43I can be with you here.
23:44Jesus also wants to be with us.
23:48He wants us to realize that he is within us and that he wants to talk to us.
23:55Look at Saint Augustine.
23:58I loved you late.
23:59I loved you late.
24:01Beauty so new and so ancient.
24:03I loved you late.
24:04I was looking for you in all these wonderful things that wouldn't exist without you.
24:09I pounced on them.
24:11Everything beautiful, everything lovely, everything precious.
24:14Trying to find you.
24:16He immersed himself in all the philosophies of his time in search of Jesus.
24:20Seeking the truth.
24:24I loved you late.
24:25Because I found you only after you entered my heart.
24:28And there you were.
24:29"You were always there," he says.
24:32You were always there.
24:34But I never realized it.
24:38Who knows what we can expect from God?
24:41Sometimes people come to God resentful because they think God took their father away.
24:45Or because he doesn't talk to her.
24:47Or because he doesn't listen to him.
24:48But it's because we always want God to do what we want.
24:52And that's not the case.
24:53God wants to talk to you and wants to have a dialogue.
24:56And it often makes us see that what we want is not good for us.
25:01We need to ask for something else.
25:02That is why Scripture says that God does not give to us because we ask wrongly.
25:09We don't know how to ask.
25:10We must ask for the Holy Spirit and say to Him, "Holy Spirit, tell me what I have to ask for."
25:16And that is why Saint Ignatius of Loyola said...
25:21Look, let me put it this way, sir.
25:23If I can serve you better in poverty, I want to be poor.
25:29But if it's with wealth, I want to be rich.
25:33If I can serve you better when I'm sick, then I want to be sick.
25:38But if I can serve you better when I'm healthy, I want to be healthy.
25:44Where you can be served best.
25:47Where I can love you more.
25:48And that's not right, I'm not mistaken, am I?
25:54Because?
25:54Because I let God give me what is truly good for me.
26:00And what I want above all else is for Him to be glorified.
26:04TRUE?
26:05Especially in the words of the Saint.
26:08Ad mayorem de gloria.
26:09To the greater glory of God.
26:11How can I give you more glory, Lord?
26:13Sick?
26:13Well, I want to be sick.
26:16Is it healthy that I give you more glory?
26:18Well, I want to be healthy.
26:20Poor thing, shall I give you more glory?
26:22Well, I want to be poor.
26:24But if I give you more glory when I'm rich, I want to be rich.
26:29Give me what I can best use to glorify you.
26:33The Saint says.
26:33We must enter into this mystery of God, brothers.
26:42We need to enter into this mystery of God and realize that He dwells in our hearts.
26:49Realizing that in that silence, in that breeze, God wants to speak to you.
26:53It is important to have our own writing.
26:57That's why we go to pray, to hear his voice.
27:00And what should I do, Father?
27:02Should I open the Bible at random?
27:03Yeah.
27:05So.
27:07Click.
27:07Sometimes I tell him, "Sir, but I'm going to take the right page, the left column."
27:14Oh, wow.
27:21Hey, you're not answering me.
27:23I'm not going to answer you.
27:24I want to talk to you, dude.
27:29Do you notice?
27:31So, you're really worried because you're having some kind of problem at work, at school,
27:34with your parents, with your wife.
27:37And, Lord, what do I do?
27:38I'm leaving the house, I'll follow him.
27:40What do I have to do?
27:41Okay, tell me here, what am I going to do?
27:44And do you think the Lord is going to tell you?
27:45Yes, indeed.
27:46So, leave your house.
27:49No, he wants to talk to you.
27:52And he's going to say to you, hey, speaking of the poor, how are you doing, Lord?
27:56I'm bringing the trouble right now.
27:58How are you doing with the poor?
28:02Oh, wow.
28:06The poor?
28:08Yes, the poor.
28:09Hey, what's with my argument here?
28:13How are you doing with the poor?
28:16You're worried about things I'm working on.
28:20This problem that is happening in your house is important for you to experience.
28:25It's important that you don't have any money right now.
28:28That's why you can't get a job.
28:29Because God has His plans.
28:36I'm going to tell you a scary story.
28:39As you know, then, the Lord has chosen me, I don't know why, I wish He had chosen someone else because He picked the worst one, right?
28:54But anyway, he has tasked me with developing several organizations.
29:00They all require money, starting with this one.
29:03And then, what probably happens to all dads happens to me.
29:11When things get tight, you start to see the cash flow decrease, and you have to pay the employees, and you have to pay the electricity bill, and this one, and that one, and everything else.
29:25And you say, what else do I have to do?
29:27And so, if you used to work eight hours, now you want to work fifteen.
29:31Either eighteen or twenty.
29:32Or twenty-four, right?
29:33Because?
29:34Because you start to feel like life is taking over.
29:39Many years ago, at Active Evacuation, we said, let's fund the organization by making websites.
29:49I had the people who make them, so we sell them.
29:54And so, well, that's a good idea, isn't it?
29:58And well, we started doing those things.
30:00And the Lord said, hey, dude.
30:06I do.
30:07What are you doing?
30:09Well, making money, sir.
30:10I have to pay all these people.
30:13No.
30:15You have to evangelize.
30:16Yes, sir, otherwise, evangelize.
30:18Okay, for now, just let me continue here with this spiel.
30:22What happened?
30:24Life took us away.
30:29We're in trouble.
30:30Our servers were shut down.
30:33We lacked resources.
30:36We're in trouble.
30:42Listen to me.
30:45Now with Eva Play.
30:47The same thing happened to us.
30:49We're after the money, not the people.
30:53We're going to do what you think is good and you're going to invest everything in it.
30:56And what does the Lord do?
30:57Lord, he shuts you out and gives you nothing.
31:03Nothing.
31:06Why aren't you doing what He wants?
31:12Listen to me.
31:13Sir, but...
31:14Listen to me.
31:15Listen to me.
31:18I'll take care of your affairs, your house, your problems, any kind of problem.
31:24But listen to me.
31:27I am going to the Blessed Sacrament.
31:31You're talking to yourself about all your problems.
31:34You don't listen to me.
31:34You ignore me.
31:36You're like Marta.
31:38Enquacerado con todo.
31:38I have something to do.
31:39And that's because of the other one.
31:40And how am I going to do it with the child?
31:41And with the other one.
31:41And with the here.
31:42And with the...
31:42Wait a minute, dude.
31:44Wait.
31:50Listen to me.
31:54Ah.
31:55So, the poor, Lord.
31:56Exact.
31:58The poor.
32:00Or anything.
32:01Any topic.
32:02We need to see what the Lord is telling me.
32:03She says, no, I don't read it anymore because she doesn't answer me.
32:07Let's see.
32:12When you are going to have a dialogue with a person.
32:16There's a dialogue, isn't there?
32:18You speak.
32:19And he talks, doesn't he?
32:22He hears you.
32:23Sir, I have nothing to eat.
32:25Very good.
32:26I heard you.
32:28Now let me tell you about other things that I want you to know.
32:33That you understand.
32:34But the thing is...
32:35Yes, I heard you.
32:36I heard you were hungry.
32:38And what do you want?
32:38A taco right now?
32:41I heard you.
32:43Now you listen to me.
32:48Oh, no.
32:49Marten.
32:49Oh, that's great.
32:50Tell my sister she'll take you away.
32:53She took the best part.
32:55He started listening to me.
32:59I know you have to work.
33:01And you couldn't have washed the dishes when I left.
33:04Or the clothes.
33:05Or the house.
33:08But you thought that's what you have to do.
33:10No.
33:12Listen to me.
33:13That's where the key to our happiness lies, brothers.
33:20In listening to the Lord.
33:22We didn't hear it.
33:25We didn't discover it.
33:27And so, the Lord does not bless us.
33:31Abram began to listen to the Lord.
33:34And the Lord blessed him.
33:36And the Lord blessed him.
33:37And the Lord blessed him.
33:41On another occasion, later on, he will speak to the Lord again to intercede for Sodom and Gomorrah.
33:50Lord, and if there are only 50 righteous people, I will not destroy them for the sake of those 50.
33:57And if there are only 40, I'm not going to destroy them for the sake of those 40.
34:01And if there are only 10 more, I will not destroy them for the sake of those 10.
34:05There weren't even 10.
34:09I destroy it.
34:11The Lord did not listen to me.
34:13If he did hear you.
34:15He always listened to you.
34:17Listen to Him.
34:18What does he mean by this?
34:20This means it was a completely lost city, that there weren't even 10 righteous people.
34:25Listen.
34:30Listen to the Lord.
34:33It's in your heart.
34:34It's in the poor.
34:36I was telling you today at Mass with the children, I was telling you, it's in your dad.
34:40Jesus says so in the Gospel of Luke as well.
34:44I have the appointment for the next one.
34:46Luke 10:16
34:48Whoever listens to you, listens to me.
34:52So kids, listen to your parents.
34:54Because God wants to speak to you through them.
34:59God is present everywhere, brothers.
35:03But we don't see it.
35:04And if we see it, we put it in a little corner.
35:08Stay here, Jesus.
35:09I'll get to you in a bit because right now I need to get some money.
35:13Because right now I have to sort things out with my parents.
35:16Because right now I have to sort this out at the university.
35:19Because right now I have to fix things.
35:22Wait a little while.
35:24I conclude and would like this to serve as an introduction to prayer.
35:34With the psalm.
35:36Let's read that psalm so that it can help us enter into prayer.
35:40It is Psalm 107.
35:50107, 109.
35:52Unless the Lord builds the house, he says, the builders labor in vain.
35:58Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stands guard in vain.
36:04It is useless for them to get up early, to stay up late, and to work themselves to the bone to earn their bread.
36:09God gives it to his friends, God gives it to his friends while they sleep.
36:17We need to establish a friendship with him, right?
36:22Just as Martha wanted it, just as Mary wanted it.
36:24The inheritance the Lord gives us is children, the fruit of his womb, his reward, like arrows in the hands of a warrior.
36:32That's how children born in youth are.
36:34Blessed is the man who filled his alcaviar with those arrows; he will not be humiliated when he faces his enemies in court.
36:43Two different ideas in this psalm.
36:46Let's stick with the first one.
36:48If God doesn't build the house, do you have a problem?
36:52Yes, God knows.
36:53Tell them, go tell the Holy One, Lord, I have all these problems, how wonderful.
36:59Now sit at your feet and listen.
37:04Sit at his feet and listen.
37:08Lord, we want to open our hearts to you today.
37:12You know that we have thousands of thoughts, problems, needs, and concerns that move within our hearts.
37:22But we believe that you are a provident Father.
37:26That you always take into account all our needs, all our problems, all our anxieties.
37:33You know them well and we believe you take care of them.
37:38That is why today we want to reaffirm our faith in your goodness, but ask you to increase our faith.
37:46We want to ask you, Lord, to help us open our hearts to listen to you, because you have so many things to tell us.
37:55But when we're talking and worried about our own things, it's hard to listen to you.
38:03Help us put our worries aside.
38:08And like Mary, the sister of Lazarus, let us sit at your feet and listen to your voice, which will calm our anxieties, our needs, and our sorrows.
38:19And we will be able to continue our journey and our coexistence with you, with peace and serenity.
38:28Don't let the anxieties, fears, and problems of our lives keep us always busy and, therefore, far away from you.
38:39Help us to always walk with you, to always be ready to listen to your sweet voice, in silence and peace.
38:51We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns and is God forever and ever.
38:57Amen.
