Trinidad and Tobago's Kalifa Howard recently served as the tournament director for the 35th OECS Bridge Tournament held in St. Lucia an event that brought together some of the region's top minds in the game.

Howard, one of T&T's leading female players, says the tournament was a success and she's encouraged by signs that the sport is slowly gaining ground back home.

00:00The tournament went successfully, it went off very well. We had some hiccups, yes, but we were able to overcome them and run a smooth tournament where everyone was able to participate in the teams as well as the players.
00:17What's your background as a player, first of all?
00:20So, I represent Trinidad and Tobago on the ladies team. So, earlier this year, I participated in the CACBF tournament in Barbados, which my team won.
00:34Is the sport of bridge growing in Trinidad and Tobago?
00:37So, the sport of bridge is growing in Trinidad and Tobago. So, currently, we have on a Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. a teaching course where newcomers can come out and learn the games and they get familiarized and experience playing. So, hopefully, we can grow the bridge community within Trinidad and Tobago.
