00:00Gorgeous very stereotypical Seattle day.
00:03Right Mike Robb.
00:05Loudy gloomy drizzly and getting to see this guy tonight for the first time as a Seahawks
00:11QB Sam Donald's Mike McDonald looking for his first win of this preseason after last
00:16week's on twenty three twenty three time with former Seahawks head coach now Las Vegas
00:22Raiders head man Pete Carroll.
00:24It almost it almost felt right for all of us here in Seattle.
00:29Absolutely.
00:30Felt right.
00:31Well the Chiefs won the toss and deferred to the second half so the Seahawks will receive
00:36tonight and there's running back Kurt Warner raising the twelve flag here at Lumen Fields
00:43part of our top fifty Seahawks of all time.
00:46What up Kurt?
00:47I see you Kurt.
00:48He went to a good university too didn't he?
00:50Oh the greatest university of all universities.
00:53Okay.
00:54One one.
00:55Let's not get ahead of ourselves.
00:57There's Kurt.
00:58Get the crowd fired up.
00:59Kurt looked good still man.
01:01Look at that.
01:02That's awesome.
01:03This is the fiftieth year of Seahawks football so the top fifty Seahawks were unveiled earlier
01:09this summer.
01:10Harrison Butker kicking off to George Helani who has face indeed.
01:14We've got flags as well but Helani still going all the way into Chiefs territory.
01:19We will see if this one stands up Jack Cochran making the tackle for KC.
01:26It's the first three.
01:27Here in the turn holding receiving team number forty two.
01:33Ten yard penalty first down.
01:35All right.
01:36So that Helani run will get wiped out.
01:41and Sam Darnold will begin his Seahawks tenure with a long field ahead of him.
01:47Of course, a star last year for the Minnesota Vikings,
01:50really revitalizing his career.
01:52First Pro Bowl, career high in completion percentage, over 4,300 yards,
01:57those 35 touchdowns, and led the Vikings to that 14-3 record.
02:02Signing a three-year deal with the Hawks in the offseason.
02:05So here we go.
02:07Sam Darnold tenure in Seattle begins now.
02:11Darnold will hand off to Zach Charbonnet.
02:15He's got a big hole and a first down.
02:17Oh, you said you were excited to see what this offensive line could do again tonight.
02:22I'd say they're off to a great start.
02:24Yeah, off to a great start following Gray Zabel, the first-round pick,
02:27right over the left side right there.
02:29You see Robbie Uts finding some space,
02:31and then the seed just parts for Zach Charbonnet
02:35as he gets through the offensive line.
02:38Gain of 13 on the first play from scrimmage here tonight.
02:41Darnold under center.
02:43Charbonnet, his back once again.
02:44Not expecting to see Kenneth Walker III tonight, just as a precaution.
02:49Charbonnet this time on the left side of the line
02:51and picks up close to five on his second run.
02:55Got to love Zach Charbonnet, a guy who runs hard.
02:59He's always available.
03:01Can catch the ball out of the backfield.
03:03And Kate and pass pro, this guy will put a linebacker on his behind.
03:08I'll tell you that.
03:0924-year-old now in his third year out of UCLA.
03:12He was a second-round pick of the Seahawks back in 2023.
03:18Smith and Jigba motioning towards Cooper Cup, both in the right slot.
03:22Excited to see how those guys do.
03:24And excited to see how this guy does as well.
03:28So many options for Sam Darnold.
03:30His first completion as a quarterback for the Seahawks to his tight end, A.J. Barner.
03:36Yeah, Sam Darnold did a good job starting on the right side of the offense
03:40and getting all the way back to the left.
03:42But A.J. Barner, this guy's one of the guys you tell get off the bus first.
03:47He's a big dude.
03:48All right.
03:50Mike Rob, don't look now, but we have not only Sam Darnold,
03:53we have Jalen Milrow in as well.
03:54He's under center trying to get this first down.
03:57And it sure looks from up here like he got it.
04:02Another great push from Robbie Utz and this offensive line for the Seahawks.
04:06Got to love it.
04:07You see Jalen Milrow in early.
04:12Again, just look at this offensive line.
04:14The bodies, the move, the surge of the line of scrimmage.
04:19It's a really good play right there.
04:22Robbie Utz, the rookie fullback out of Alabama
04:25who played with Jalen Milrow, obviously in Tuscaloosa.
04:30Sovereign in motion.
04:32Little pitch play to Charbonnet to the right side.
04:35And Zach dances his way into Chiefs territory.
04:38Very close to another Seahawks first down
04:41before George Karloftis got to him.
04:44Nice block there from Abe Lucas.
04:46Yeah, really big-time block by Big Abe
04:49getting out in front of Zach Charbonnet.
04:52But Abe Lucas is healthy right now.
04:55This guy's having a great camp.
04:59Going to spot it right at the field.
05:03Yeah, it's Utz and Charbonnet.
05:04High formation behind Darnold.
05:06He's under center.
05:07Smith and Jepa comes in motion.
05:09Darnold play action right now to J.S.
05:12What a route that was.
05:13First down and more.
05:15Loved that play call by the Seahawks.
05:18Really good play call by Clint Kubiak right there.
05:21Eye formation.
05:22Just a little bit of a fake.
05:25You get Jackson Smith and Jigba doing a little bit of a
05:28Whirlybird reverse motion in the backfield.
05:32Gets a swing pass.
05:33Gets a first down.
05:34Good play design.
05:34Tackle made by Cole Christensen pushing J.S.N. out of bounds.
05:40First to ten for Seattle.
05:43Kansas City 43.
05:45Lone over the pistol.
05:47Hands off to Charbonnet.
05:49Look at the power that Zach Charbonnet runs with.
05:52Down to the 36.
05:53Six and a half yard line.
05:56Tackle made by Nazi Johnson.
05:58Yeah, really good job right here.
05:59You see Anthony Bradford, big number 75, the right guard, getting out there in front of Zach
06:05and just leading the way, moving grown men out of the way.
06:10That's how you want your offensive line to look, especially early in the game.
06:13We talked about it last week, week one against the Raiders.
06:15These guys took it personally how much they were talked about in a negative light last year.
06:22Fullback.
06:22Sam got his fullback.
06:23There's Robbie Oates.
06:24A lot of space for Oates.
06:26And he's down inside the 25.
06:28And the fullback beside me is pumping his fist.
06:32Yeah, Robbie, I love it.
06:34Just a little fake counter move here.
06:37And then just out into the flat.
06:40Good play design.
06:42Great play call.
06:44Great catch by the fullback.
06:46You see that, Kate?
06:47We saw it last week.
06:48Yeah, got to get on Robbie right there, man.
06:50Don't give him a stiff arm.
06:51Don't run him over.
06:52He'll fall back.
06:53It's the preseason.
06:54Come on.
06:54We've got to keep these guys healthy.
06:57Seahawks, another first and ten from the 24.
07:00Zach.
07:01That's the tight end.
07:04Elijah Arroyo lowering his shoulder pads and knocking into Cole Christensen.
07:11Seahawks moving the football nicely.
07:13Really like Elijah Arroyo.
07:15He's like the F tight end, the other tight end that can be used more in the passing game.
07:21But this is what the offense looks like when you can run the football.
07:24When you run the football, you get explosive passes off play action passes.
07:28Good rhythm so far.
07:29Second and two.
07:30Gain of eight on that connection with his tight end.
07:33Donald under center.
07:34Torrey Horton, the rookie, in motion.
07:36Hands it off to Charbonnet.
07:38And he's going to go in untouched.
07:41Touchdown Seahawks.
07:43Zach Charbonnet all the way to the house.
07:46Watch this play right here.
07:52You're going to get a block back right here by the tight end.
07:55And watch Zach just stay on this course and get into the end zone.
08:00Great job by the offensive line.
08:02Good patience by Zach right there.
08:04Look at that lane.
08:05As Saubert gives a pancake of a block on the defensive end.
08:10Touchdown.
08:12Couldn't have asked for a better start if you are Clint Kubiak and this new-look Seahawks offense.
08:19This is Jason Myers on for the extra point.
08:21One of them blocked last week.
08:24Not that one.
08:25What a start for Sam Darnold, Zach Charbonnet, and the Seattle Seahawks all the way down the fields and in for seven.
08:34Now the 50th season of Seahawks football kicks off at home against the San Francisco 49ers.
08:52Coming up on Sunday, September 7th at 1 p.m.
08:55What a way to start the season.
08:57Get your tickets now at seahawks.com slash tickets.
08:59And what a way to start the season for Sam Darnold and this offense.
09:04It started with a Zach Charbonnet 13-yard run, finished with a 15-yard touchdown run.
09:10Ten plays, 81 yards in five minutes and 29 seconds, and Charbonnet had 45 of those yards.
09:16This is Tyquan Thornton who gets lit up at the 25-yard line.
09:20I know Brady Russell was in there because I could see the hair.
09:23Somebody else was in there, too.
09:25And Russell said he got the football or just wants to celebrate with the 12s.
09:28Yeah, get him, Brady.
09:30Got to love Brady Russell.
09:32There's thoughts out there that this guy's one of the better special teams players in the National Football League.
09:38He played tight end, fullback, all of that.
09:40Great play by Brady.
09:41All right.
09:42We weren't sure if we were going to see Patrick Mahomes tonight.
09:46It looks like we're probably not because Gardner Minshew, the backup, in to start this one this evening.
09:51Isaiah Pacheco on his left hip, and the starting offensive line is in at the moment for the Chiefs.
09:59And we've got whistles before they even got that one off.
10:03Rishi Rice was the intended receiver.
10:06And, of course, we know Gardner very well up here in the Pacific Northwest.
10:09Wazoo's stud his senior year.
10:11This is our referee, Sean Smith.
10:13Offense number 65, Gabriel Keeley, first down.
10:16Well, that is the highest paid guard in NFL history who got whistled for that.
10:22Trey Smith, fifth year out of Tennessee.
10:24And, of course, there's Patrick Mahomes.
10:26Would have been just his third time playing here.
10:29He's played a couple of regular season games.
10:30But Seahawks haven't seen the Chiefs since back in the 2017 preseason.
10:35So, Kansas City moving the wrong way to start out tonight.
10:38First and 15 from the 20.
10:4212 is already into it here at Lumen Fields.
10:46Minshew takes advantage of a hole in the middle and smartly, not sure if that was purposeful or not,
10:51but slides down just past the original line of scrimmage.
10:54Ernest Jones, the fourth, number 13.
10:56Good to have that backer back.
10:58And it's always good to see this guy.
10:59I mean, one of my favorite years of working for the Pac-12 Network and covering the Pac-12 was
11:03when this guy was rocking the George's up in Pullman.
11:06I mean, there's a Minshew fan.
11:07I'm sure even Husky fans watching this broadcast tonight had respect for what Gardner was doing at Long Zero.
11:12Absolutely.
11:13Got to have respect for Gardner Minshew.
11:15The guy had a great college career.
11:19Doing some good things here in the National Football League.
11:22And Journeyman is his seventh season now.
11:25Second down, 110.
11:28Play action.
11:29Lots of time for Minshew.
11:30The offensive line doing well for Kansas City.
11:32Connecting with his tight end, Jared Wiley.
11:35Going to be short of that first down marker.
11:37Nick Emanwari.
11:39Helping out there.
11:40Devin Witherspoon around as well.
11:43Yeah, you see Nick Emanwari there on the tackle.
11:46God, we talked about it at the open of the show.
11:48This kid, his ability to cover, his ability to cover ground, blitz,
11:54and be a great tackler in open space.
11:56Very unique player that can unlock a lot of things in this defense and match up against a lot of offenses.
12:04Listen to this preseason crowd.
12:06Chiefs need to get to the 35-yard line.
12:11Minshew from the pistol.
12:13He's going to swing it out to the flats.
12:14He's got Pacheco, and Pacheco has it all the way down into Seahawks territory.
12:19Well, all of us who love the NFL know that that guy can do that if he's able to stay healthy.
12:25A key piece for Kansas City.
12:26Yeah, Isaiah Pacheco.
12:28He's just going to see him kind of just do a little swing route here.
12:31You'll see Eman trying to communicate before the play.
12:34And just got out-leveraged right there, but he hustles to get back into play.
12:39Explosive pass play by the Kansas City Chiefs.
12:42And 22 yards on the hookup between Minshew and Pacheco.
12:45And that's a focus for Kansas City this year.
12:48We know how explosive they were at the start of Patrick Mahomes' career.
12:52More ball control last year.
12:53Looking to get those explosives back here in 2025.
12:58Minshew will hand off a great work up front by the Seahawks.
13:01That was to their fullback, Carson Steele.
13:05Good to have Boye Mafé back.
13:07Didn't see him last week in the opener of the preseason against the Las Vegas Raiders.
13:15Fourth year at a Minnesota, and really a key piece of the Seahawks' defense.
13:18Oh, my goodness.
13:19He's a pass rush specialist.
13:21This dude, every single day you're going to see him working on his pass rush moves.
13:26Great first step.
13:28Super quick off the edge.
13:29Held Steele to just two yards on that carry.
13:33He'll go back to Steele again.
13:35He powers his way inside the 40-yard line before he stood up.
13:39So, another third and short coming for Kansas City.
13:42Patrick O'Connell and Ernest Jones there.
13:45Yeah, that's a good play by Ernest Jones right there.
13:48He's missed some time in camp, some personal things going on back at home.
13:52But, ever since this guy's in the building, first guy on the field, last guy off the field.
13:59Great, versatile player at the linebacker level.
14:02He can also blitz.
14:04No Leo Williams.
14:05No Demarcus Lawrence for the Seahawks tonight.
14:08So, all eyes on the guys out there.
14:11Third and three.
14:11Menchu, quick pass, and it's caught by Taequann Thornton.
14:19That's good for a Kansas City first down inside the 25-yard line.
14:23Good play call by KC.
14:25Yeah, really good play call by Kansas City right here.
14:28You're going to see a little RPO action, some pulling guards,
14:31and putting the ball in the stomach of the running back.
14:35What it does is it displaces the second level of the defense
14:38and provides a throwing lane for Gardner Menchu.
14:41Fifteen yards on that third down connection.
14:44So, very similar to how the Seahawks looked in their first run.
14:47Nice rhythm here for Gardner Menchu and the Chiefs.
14:51A couple of tight ends out there.
14:52Juju Smith-Schuster, the man in motion.
14:57And off to Steele once again.
14:58And they're going with their big boy in the back,
15:02just like the Seahawks were.
15:03Big 4-2 second year, like Charbonnet out of UCLA.
15:07Jones and O'Connell there on the tackle once again.
15:10You've got to love when fullbacks get the football, okay?
15:12Carson Steele is the fullback for the Kansas City Chiefs.
15:16You see their last season, a little over 160-some yards rushing.
15:21Versatile guy for this Chiefs offense.
15:22I'm sure everybody knows, as a pet alligator, if you don't,
15:27you've been living under a rub for the past couple of years.
15:31Elijah Mitchell now in it running back.
15:34Steele takes a seat for at least this play.
15:39Chiefs need four.
15:40Minshew is trying to hook up with his tight end again.
15:43Jared Widely on the crosser that could not connect just a little too far in front of him.
15:48So, third down coming up.
15:49Now, see, that's the length of a guy like Tyreek Wolland, right?
15:54He's 6'4", 210 pounds.
15:55You see him right there, 27.
15:59And you're trying to lead your receiver open,
16:02but Tyreek is so big and so long, you can't get the ball around him.
16:066'4".
16:07Wow.
16:09Playing cornerback.
16:10He's a hooper.
16:11Wingspan, almost 9 feet.
16:12There's Wingspan, fourth of the year at a UTSA.
16:18Third and four.
16:24Wingshield being chased.
16:27And this is going to be really close, connected with Smith-Schuster.
16:32Kobe Bryant, free safety there on the tackle.
16:34Let's see where they spot this.
16:36Good job, Kobe Bryant.
16:38This kid is decisive.
16:39I love Kobe Bryant.
16:41This guy used to be a cornerback, used to play in the slot,
16:45can cover anybody on the football field.
16:47But when this guy sees the ball thrown,
16:50he is running faster than anybody on the field to go make the play.
16:55Yeah.
16:56Great 69-yard pick six against Arizona last season.
17:01And a good pick up there.
17:03So, I believe we do have the Hawkeye technology here tonight,
17:06which is new to the NFL this season, which means that the humans will spot the football.
17:12There you go.
17:12And then the Hawkeye cameras are set up all around the stadium.
17:16They will let us know, similar to anybody who's watched a tennis grand slam,
17:21we will all look up to the big board together and see how far away it is.
17:26Right now, as you can see from the black line and the yellow line,
17:29which signifies the first down, it appears to be short.
17:31But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
17:32No, can't get ahead of ourselves.
17:34Those lines aren't exact.
17:39If the Chiefs go for it, which it looks like they probably will, Mike, Ron.
17:43It's going to be the 10th play of this drive.
17:45Okay, yeah.
17:46I'd go for it.
17:47Why not?
17:47It's the preseason.
17:48You can't always just rely on practice situations to get the real work.
17:54All right.
17:54Well, I'm taking a wild guess that it's not working.
17:56It didn't work last week, but we're hopeful that by week three,
18:01it will be ready.
18:02Listen, it's preseason for the technology as well.
18:04Absolutely.
18:04So here we go.
18:05Fourth and one.
18:07Mitchell and Steele both in.
18:09High formation for the Chiefs.
18:11Minshew hands off to his fullback who hops over the line.
18:15And this will come down to the spot as well because he was met in the air.
18:18Yes, he will.
18:18That was an awesome play on both sides of the football.
18:21Did you see Julian Love?
18:22Oh, my goodness.
18:23Was that Love or was that Superman flying in there?
18:25Exactly.
18:26Is this preseason or regular season?
18:29Regular season for Julian.
18:32It's a measurement.
18:33All right.
18:34Well, again, from that look, it looks like where they've spotted it is just short.
18:41Let's take the bird's eye view of it.
18:45That's close.
18:47That's really close.
18:50That is close.
18:51It looks like he may have gotten to that 19-yard line.
18:55So, Ernest Jones diving in there to knock it back, too.
18:58But Julian Love, man.
19:00Seventh-year player out of Notre Dame.
19:02Came over after spending 2019 through 2022 with the New York Giants.
19:08He has found a home here, and Seahawks fans love him.
19:13Yeah.
19:14Dude is always around the football.
19:16Led the team in tackles last season.
19:19At only 5'11", 195 pounds.
19:22I mean, to be able to, you know, own the C-gap right there.
19:25Yeah, he plays bigger.
19:26Yes, he does.
19:27First year of a three-year extension that Julian signs.
19:31Three straight 100-plus tackle seasons.
19:34Yeah, yeah.
19:36That's pretty amazing.
19:36Again, those are just solo tackles.
19:38The 79 were solo tackles.
19:40And he and Kobe have found, and you know, Mike Robb,
19:43when your safeties are in sync, and then you throw a spoon and a reek
19:47and maybe a Emanwari in there this year.
19:50There you go.
19:51There you go.
19:52I mean, Mike B, Michael Bennett is going to join us
19:54in the second and third quarter tonight.
19:56Clearly, everyone on the pregame show saying,
19:58they are not the Legion of Boom.
20:00Do not bring up L.O.B.
20:01but those guys have potential to maybe be worthy of a nickname of their own
20:06in the years to come.
20:07Absolutely.
20:08And I believe if you ask these guys,
20:09they wouldn't want to be considered the L.O.B. or anything like that.
20:12They want to make a name for themselves.
20:15There's Devin Witherspoon right there.
20:17The question is, is this attempt at the technology taking longer?
20:21Oh, here it is, everybody.
20:22Here it is.
20:25Looks like it's going to be short.
20:26Oh, it's short.
20:29And it is short.
20:30And the crowd goes wild.
20:33So the Chiefs turn it over on downs.
20:37Thanks to that guy, Julian Love, making contact in midair.
20:42Hello, Carson Steele.
20:44Welcome to Seattle.
20:45It's going to be Seahawks football when we come back.
20:55Seahawks football is presented by Washington's Lottery.
20:58When you play Washington's Lottery, you're helping fund the pursuit of dreams through college and career training.
21:04And it might not look like it from that angle, but it is raining.
21:08It's coming down here as Drew Locke is in for the second series for the Seahawks tonight.
21:13So I expect that will do it for Sam Darnold.
21:15Sam, a perfect four for four for 34 yards.
21:20And Levy's shots all the way down the field.
21:22And now it's Alani, as you said, going all the way down the field.
21:25Or almost to the 50-yard line.
21:28Had a great week one.
21:29And on his first carry here tonight, another awesome run.
21:3530 yards for George Alani.
21:37This is outside zone at his finest.
21:39A little pitch play.
21:41But outside zone, every offensive lineman chasing the outside.
21:45Shoulder of the defender and George Alani just riding that wave.
21:49Before you know it, he's in the secondary.
21:51Great run.
21:51I mean, had that 24-yard touchdown run last week.
21:57Finished with seven carries for 61 yards.
22:01And that touchdown going right back to him.
22:04Right now, Alani puts his foot in the ground.
22:07Gets it into Kansas City territory.
22:10Great starts.
22:11The Boise State product, George Alani.
22:14Again, great start, but even better play call by Clint Kubiak.
22:17It's essentially the same play, but it looked different, right?
22:20So, same blocking up front by the offensive line,
22:23but different means of getting the ball to the running back.
22:26One was the pitch, the other was the outside zone
22:28with the fullback coming back, swiping the backside in.
22:31Brady Russell in at fullback.
22:33We saw Robbie Oaks in at fullback on the first series.
22:36Sawbert settling on the right side of the line.
22:39And that is the way that Alani will go, following his blockers,
22:42following Brady Russell.
22:44And that's good for a Seahawks first down.
22:46Jack Conkren on the tackle for the Chiefs.
22:49You okay over here, partner?
22:49Yeah, I'm sorry.
22:50I get excited when it's fullback love up in there.
22:53Just watch the funnel of the Seahawks end up on the safety right there.
22:59Look at it open up right there.
23:01Boom!
23:02There you go.
23:03Put hands on that little guy right there.
23:05He can't mess with you, Brady.
23:06Russell, good run by this offense.
23:0938, Russell, and high formation lock on her center, looking left.
23:16Stepping to his left and does well to get to about the 38-yard line.
23:22Chanel and Cochran there for Kansas City.
23:24Yeah, that play looked like it was a little messed up from the beginning.
23:28Don't know what happened there.
23:29But it was good to see Drew not put the ball in harm's way and use his legs to get a few yards.
23:35Got the start last week.
23:36Led the offense to a couple of touchdowns.
23:3816 points in the first half before turning it over to the third stringer, Jalen Millrow, in the second half.
23:43Great starts by Sam Darnold on that first drive.
23:4910 plays, 81 yards, and a touchdown.
23:51Here's Alani once again.
23:54About 35.
23:56Need to get it to about the 33-and-a-half-yard line of the first down.
24:01Love what I'm seeing out of George Alani this camp.
24:05Again, we saw the game last week.
24:07Led the team in rushing, all of those great things.
24:09But the kid is good in pass, bro.
24:11Keeps a positive attitude all the time.
24:13I mean, you know, 8-9, Zach Charmé, those guys, they get the reps at practice.
24:18And so you kind of got to take a lot of mental reps.
24:21George does a great job knowing where to be, where to line up, where to go.
24:2533 on this third down.
24:26Here's Alani.
24:27Good run.
24:28And it's a really good run.
24:29Looked like he was stopped behind the line of scrimmage and then spun his way very close to that marker.
24:35Man, we call this guy's name a lot.
24:37Number 43 in white, Jack Cochran.
24:41Good tackle right there by Jack.
24:43Didn't get there in time.
24:45Looks like somebody's hurting for Kansas City.
24:51This is the rookie out of Tennessee, Omar Norman-Lox.
24:57Charbonnet looks great on the first drive.
24:58Alani picking up where he left off.
25:00First down, Seahawks when we come back.
25:07Come on, it gets in for a touchdown.
25:08Yeah.
25:09It feels like a good shot to advertise accident attorney.
25:12Seahawks football brought to you by Carpenter and Zuckerman, accident attorneys.
25:15Proud partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
25:18You know, sometimes it's wet.
25:19I mean, slip and fall.
25:20Maybe that's just a me problem.
25:21Michael Robinson, Kate Scott with you.
25:23This is the first play of the night for running back Damian Martinez now behind Brady Russell.
25:29The full back for the Seahawks.
25:30Already rushed for 100 yards.
25:33And Martinez has some more down inside the 15-yard line.
25:38How about this offensive line?
25:41And Brady Russell with another great block.
25:44Good job by Brady Russell again.
25:46This is funneling the B-gap, outside zone, right.
25:50Good eyes and vision by Damian Martinez.
25:53Really good to see this kid finding some success.
25:5610 yards on six rushes last week.
25:59He has 19 on his first rush this week.
26:03And the Seahawks have already run for 119 yards.
26:07How about that first quarter by your Seattle Seahawks?
26:14And they're on the doorstep looking for seven more as we head to the second.
26:25Seahawks football is brought to you by your Western Washington Toyota dealers,
26:29the preferred truck of the Seattle Seahawks.
26:33Still have no idea how they got that truck up there.
26:35And I know it involved a helicopter and some cranes.
26:38Some cranes.
26:39Starting the second quarter here at Lumenfield on a rainy night in Seattle, Washington.
26:43Seahawks with a 7-0 lead thanks to a 15-yard touchdown run from Zach Charbonnet.
26:49Now Drew Locke in along with Brady Russell and Damian Martinez,
26:52who had a 19-yard rush just before we stepped away.
26:56Locking off to the rookie out of Miami, who's met right at the line of scrimmage.
27:02That's the best play we've seen from the Kansas City defensive line.
27:06And on that note, welcome in the defensive line star, Michael Bennett,
27:10with us as he often is in the second and third quarters.
27:13Mike B., I appreciate you always making me feel extremely tiny when you stay next to me.
27:18Even when I've had a lot to eat, I always feel great because you're a giant human.
27:21Well, I don't know, take that as a compliment or is that a good thing?
27:24It's like, am I overweight or something?
27:27No, Mike, you're just a big human being.
27:29It's all muscle.
27:30You're just a big human being.
27:31George Jelani back in at running back.
27:33Michael Robinson, Kate Scott with you here as well.
27:35Locked quickly to Jake Bobo.
27:37And Bobo's got space.
27:38Jake Bobo into the end zone.
27:41Touchdown, Seahawks.
27:42Touchdown for Jake Bobo.
27:52Check out this little bit of just a tear screen.
27:56And they're doing it inside the 20, Mike B., getting those defensive linemen running.
28:00Good move in the open field by Bobo.
28:03And he found the end zone touchdown.
28:07Good play design, even better execution.
28:09And, guys, that was the first pass of the drive after eight straight running plays, Mike B.
28:16Got to love it.
28:17Got to love it.
28:19Jason Myers on to his empty extra point.
28:21And Michael Bennett is speechless, which does not happen often.
28:24I'm speechless because the running game is so good this year, just the beginning of the preseason.
28:29But the ability to keep lining it up and running it again and then running it again.
28:34Nine plays, 85 yards.
28:39Jake Bobo in for six.
28:40And the Seahawks with a 14-0 lead.

29:06All right, so two long touchdown drives to the Seahawks, guys.
29:10Just two third downs on those drives.
29:1314 carries, 120 yards rushing already.
29:18The scrimmage play here.
29:19As Myers kicks this one off.
29:21This is...
29:21Oh.
29:22The rookie, Jalen Royals.
29:23He's got a lot of space.
29:25Good tackle.
29:25Doesn't get past Myers, though.
29:27Oh, the kicker.
29:28Good tackle, Jason.
29:30Delivering the knock for the Seahawks.
29:32Wow.
29:33I know Coach Harbaugh wouldn't have liked the fact that the middle just opened up like that on this kickoff.
29:43I watched Jason Myers.
29:45He stayed on, you know, stayed with the returner.
29:48Put his cleats in the ground.
29:51What's up?
29:52What's up?
29:52You think that was a good tackle?
29:53It was a great tackle, but I think Jalen's going to get a fun of him if he's got to a locker.
29:57You think you talk about a kicker, it's like one of the worst things to happen to you as a player.
30:01It is.
30:0249 yards on the return.
30:05The rookie out of Utah State, Jalen Royals, who had a nice debut last week for the Chiefs down in Arizona.
30:12We've got flags.
30:14Back near the Seahawks 30-yard line.
30:18Sean Smith.
30:19There's no foul on the play for 12 on the field on defense.
30:22First down.
30:22Oh, the referee kind of messed up his count back there in the back.
30:27Well, it is, as we say every week during the preseason.
30:29It's preseason for everybody, Mike Robbins.
30:31Yes, it is.
30:32The officials figuring things out.
30:33And so are the players on the field.
30:38Steel's still out there.
30:40Rashard Smith.
30:41Rookie running back, the guy in motion, coming back.
30:43And on the sweep here, Smith.
30:45Skips over one defender.
30:47And he's got a first down for Kansas City.
30:49This is a rookie out of SMU.
30:51Seventh round pick for Kansas City.
30:53Rashard Smith.
30:54Yeah, Rashard Smith out of SMU.
30:55That's a good run right there.
30:57Good hustle by Drake Thomas on the tackle.
31:00It's tough competition on that inside line, for the inside linebacker group, especially for depth.
31:08In our first look, I believe, at Shaq Griffin, number 24, in blue.
31:14Top of your screen.
31:15Missed a lot of training camp just back.
31:17And now in the game, this is Steel.
31:20Tingle jump right around the 35-yard line.
31:23Brandon Peely on the tackle for your Seahawks.
31:28And Jake Bobo on the touchdown for your Seahawks.
31:31A 12-yard catch, nine plays, 85 yards.
31:34Almost five minutes off the clock.
31:36See, defenders, they love to see that down there.
31:40Well, first of all, they like 14-zip.
31:41But the fact that the drive went five minutes, right?
31:45Five-minute drives and you finish it with points.
31:47Mike B., I know you like that when you get to sit on the sideline and rest up for third game.
31:52And then that's the best.
31:54Second and six here for Kansas City.
31:57Ball on the 34.
31:58Pressure coming.
31:59And shoot.
32:00Quick pass.
32:01And that's good for Kansas City.
32:03First down.
32:04Veteran tight end Robert Tunyon.
32:05He looks very good for the Chiefs last week.
32:09Receptions of 20, 19, and 10.
32:11That loss to the Cardinals.
32:13We'll see some blitzing right there off the edge.
32:16Tunyon does a great job of just making himself available for Gardner Minshew.
32:20And he looks like a little bit of a hot route.
32:23Got the football, got the first down.
32:25De'Anthony Bell on the tackle for the Seahawks.
32:28Travis Kelsey and Patrick Mahomes not playing tonight.
32:32But both did warm up.
32:34Had the shoulder pads on.
32:37Mitchell under center.
32:39Handing off to Steele.
32:41Steele gets met right near that line of scrimmage.
32:44Good work by the Seahawks defensive line.
32:46I love this play by Steele at the meeting.
32:49I was talking to the coordinator about we know about everybody in the first level and the third level.
32:56But we don't know anybody in the second level in that game.
32:57He told me the linebackers should really be watching out for him because these guys have been making a lot of big plays.
33:03And everybody's going to get a chance to know these guys throughout the season.
33:06And that was a great play by Thomas and everybody else on the tackle to be able to come down and make a routine play.
33:11But those routine plays are always hard.
33:13Absolutely.
33:15Patrick O'Connell there as well.
33:16Patio, number 52 in blue.
33:19And, of course, Drake Thomas, number 42.
33:21Minshew looking left.
33:22Pressure coming from the other side.
33:24And Minshew just smartly throws it away.
33:27And that pocket collapsing.
33:28And that was Mike Morris providing some QB pressure and Quinton Bohana.
33:32Well, I'm really excited by Mike Morris.
33:35I think before he was out of position the last couple of years.
33:37Getting back into this position allows him to be able to use his long arm, use his big body, being able to crush the pocket.
33:44And right there, we continue to see him develop.
33:46And I think this year, he's going to be a surprise player as the outside linebacker and the beefiest alignment for the Seahawks this year.
33:53That surprise guy that nobody's really talking about.
33:55We'll make it waves in camp.
33:56That's what they're hoping, Mike, be.
33:58Third and seven for Kansas City.
34:02Need to get it to the 14-yard line.
34:05Minshew way overthrows his intended receiver, Nico Remigio.
34:10But there was contact right near the goal line by Tai Okada.
34:15Yeah, it looked like a little contact right there.
34:17I don't know if they're going to call it on the defender or the offensive player.
34:20Pass interference.
34:22Defense number 39.
34:23The ball will be placed at the spot of the foul.
34:25Automatic first down.
34:27Let's go have a look at this, Michael.
34:28Yeah, let's check this out because it seemed like Tai was in his spot.
34:35And it just looked like some incidental contact right there.
34:38I don't think Tai was trying to prevent the receiver from getting to the football.
34:42Yeah, but a little contact.
34:44I don't know.
34:44That was a lot of contact.
34:46Well, I mean, but it was incidental.
34:48He was going to the ball where the ball was being thrown.
34:51It doesn't matter.
34:51There was a lot of contact.
34:52Stop it, Mike.
34:53There you go.
34:54It didn't matter to the officials.
34:55It's a first and goal from the six.
34:59Mitchell on the new shoes, left hip.
35:03Time in in motion.
35:05With a delayed handoff to Mitchell.
35:07Goes over left guard.
35:08Gets it inside the five.
35:09Got to be careful right there.
35:13The tight end almost ran into the offensive lineman right there on that Kansas City inside zone run.
35:19Got to be careful to all the bodies in the backfield.
35:22Well, especially when you have the edge player getting a good spiel right there.
35:25I thought that was a good outside play by the linebacker.
35:28There's Andy Reid.
35:30Winning his active head coach in the NFL.
35:33301 victories in counting.
35:36And that stash can get bigger.
35:37Glad you noticed that.
35:42Bruce Steele, the fullback, ran at the three, but still going back in his way towards that goal line.
35:48This is going to be very close.
35:51Going to be close.
35:53Mike B., how did you like it when the ball got down here?
35:55I know defenders don't like it when the offense scores, but what was the mentality the closer the offense got to the goal?
36:02It's always bend but don't break.
36:04You know, they get down there and make sure they either get a turnover or only allow them to get a field goal, right?
36:08Because you want to put yourself in that position.
36:10But you know that as a defensive lineman, they're getting ready to run the ball.
36:14Maybe do a sprint out with the quarterback.
36:16Plays like that.
36:17So, get your pad level down like right now.
36:20Everybody's ready to go right now, especially when the tight end starts to motion out.
36:25From the one.
36:26In shoe.
36:27Design roll to his right.
36:29Back at the end zone.
36:30And that's caught.
36:32And that's a touchdown for Robert Tunyon in Kansas City.
36:35Well, I just called it.
36:37I said it's on a couple plays they could do.
36:42Yeah, you called it, Mike.
36:43You called it.
36:44Well, good pressure from Drake Thomas.
36:46And that's where you see a veteran in Gardner Minshew.
36:48Great play.
36:49Yeah, it's a good play by Gardner right here.
36:51Because initially, the Seahawks defense had everybody covered.
36:54There's nobody open.
36:55But as Robert Tunyon, I guess all those years playing with Aaron Rodgers,
36:59understand scramble drills and things like that, found some space and uncovered.
37:04Now, that's a mustache right there, Mike B.
37:07Yeah, I don't know about that one.
37:10It's the one that made him famous as a Wazoo Cougar.
37:14This is Harrison Butker on for the extra points.
37:17And the Chiefs.
37:18Oh, eight plays, 50 yards in four minutes and 22 seconds for their first touchdown tonight.
37:26Gardner Minshew leading the way for Kansas City in this first half.
37:3014-7.
37:31It'll be Seahawks football when we come back.
37:39He was the start of week one for Kansas City down in Arizona.
37:43Veteran tight end Robert Tunyon gets him on the scoreboard for the first time tonight.
37:47Eight-play, 50-yard drive.
37:49And then the Minshew pass.
37:51Finantanian in the back of the end zone.
37:53So, Kansas City kicking off now to the Seahawks.
37:57Got Dariq Young and George Helani back on the goal line for Seattle.
38:02This one's headed towards Young.
38:04And those neon green shoes.
38:06Here comes Dariq.
38:08Got State for him.
38:09Going to make his way onto this football team,
38:11probably by being a good special teamer.
38:13Gets it out towards the 35.
38:15Ashton Jalot on the tackle for Kansas City.
38:21Oh, Mr. Dariq.
38:24Fourth year out of Lenoir Ryan.
38:26And as this Seahawks offense gets back at it,
38:30let's go down to Cliff Averill on the sideline,
38:32who I believe is with big number 99, Leo Williams.
38:35Cliff?
38:35Yes, yes, we are here with my man Leo.
38:37Leo, man, I want to talk about you a little bit before we talk about the defense.
38:41For you, this year, being one of the older guys on the team,
38:45being that the D-line is the backbone of the team,
38:48how are you feeling going into this season?
38:50I'm just excited.
38:51Like you said, we've got a lot of great vets in the room,
38:54myself included, but Jay Reed, D-Law.
38:58And we've got a great combination of older guys with young talent.
39:02And I think this D-line is definitely going to be the driving force of the team.
39:06Now, last year you had a heck of a season.
39:08Should have been up for pretty much all the doggone stats for a D-lineman or defense.
39:14How does that motivate you moving forward?
39:16Definitely a lot more chips stacked on my shoulder right now.
39:20You know, I was happy with my season last year, but I'm not satisfied.
39:25And it's not just about the accolades.
39:26I just always want to get better.
39:28And, you know, I want to have a better season than I did last season.
39:31Collectively as a defense, man, like we just said, you're a vet.
39:34You've got a lot of boys on the back end that's doing some special things.
39:37How do you feel about this defense and how special can this defense be?
39:40I mean, we always talk about this defense being the tip of the spear,
39:44meaning, like, that's the driving force of the team.
39:46And, you know, even within our defense,
39:48we're competing to be the best group on the field.
39:50Like, the D-line is competing with the DBs.
39:52The DBs are competing with the linebackers, vice versa.
39:54And I think having that type of friendly competition in practice,
39:58it leads to game time.
39:59And, like, guys are just out there flying around competing for stats.
40:02Like, I want to, like, lead the team and tackle sacks, like TFLs.
40:06And, like, every other person on the field feels the same way.
40:08So I think this is just a fire of defense right now.
40:11I love to hear it.
40:12Last one for you.
40:13All right.
40:13Not to put you on the spot,
40:14but of all the young fellas that you've seen throughout camp,
40:18which one is kind of that guy that you feel like could make a difference
40:22and help y'all get to that next level?
40:24That's a good question.
40:24I would say Nick Emanwari.
40:27I think he just has a lot of potential, a lot of talent,
40:31and, you know, just a physical specimen.
40:33I mean, he's big.
40:34He can run.
40:35He plays physical.
40:36And I think he's going to be a great help to the team right now.
40:39So, man, I appreciate you.
40:41Yes, sir.
40:41Good luck this season.
40:42Yes, sir.
40:43All right.
40:44Nick Emanwari.
40:45A lot of folks talking about him.
40:47Great to catch up with Leo right there.
40:49We got to talk to Leo Williams yesterday as well.
40:52And I'm glad Cliff brought up the fact that he was voted to his second Pro Bowl last year,
40:56but he was one of the best interior linemen in the NFL and was –
41:00he noticed that he didn't get voted to that all-pro team.
41:03This is Jaquardier Wright, the fourth different running back we've seen for the Seahawks tonight,
41:08spinning his way, trying to get his way back towards that original line of scrimmage.
41:12But I love what he said just about tip of the spear.
41:15Mike B., you know that.
41:16I mean, just listening to you two talk defensive line yesterday was my favorite part of the day.
41:20Yeah, I love talking to Leo, right,
41:21because I think Leo is one of the most dominated defensive linemen in the league.
41:25And even though he didn't get, you know, the accolades,
41:28the thing that stood out to me in the press conference yesterday was that he said,
41:31I'm not worried about the money.
41:33I'm really worried about the success of this team and becoming the leader that I need to be
41:36so we can win the games we can and become that top defense.
41:40And that's Locke connecting with Derrick Young, who's got the Seahawks a first down.
41:44Great patience from Locke.
41:46And good work by Young to find that space and make the catch.
41:50That's a great job by Drew Locke right here.
41:52He's going to get a blitz coming this way, and a void's going to open up right there.
41:56And just as the blitz gets to him, he throws in the void of the defense.
42:00And see Derrick Young right there makes a great catch and gets a first down.
42:0513 yards on that hookup between Locke and Young.
42:08Had a 31-yard reception last week.
42:10And, again, fighting for a spot in this crowded wide receiver room this year in Seattle.
42:16We saw Jackson Smith and Jigba Cooper cup.
42:19The 1-2 on the first series.
42:21Pitch here to Martinez.
42:25He gets to about the 38-yard line.
42:30And Yudike Nuzama on the tackle for Kansas City.
42:33There's Damian Martinez, 21-year-old rookie out of Miami, and there's those two wideouts.
42:37A lot of folks saying, I don't know, they have such similar skill sets, Mike Rob.
42:42But how fun is that if you're Clint Kubia?
42:44Yeah, it's very fun.
42:45I mean, these guys, I mean, they're two of the best slot receivers in the game today, right?
42:52To your point, you talked about Derrick Young in a crowded wide receiver room.
42:58But he's a guy that can give that special teams aspect.
43:01So a lot of different ways to make a football team.
43:05There's Clint Kubia, who we got to speak with yesterday as well.
43:09And, Mike Rob, one of the things you and I were talking about afterwards was great start to this game by Zach Charveney.
43:15George Chalani takes the baton from him.
43:16We've seen great stuff from Damian Martinez already.
43:19Just this offense has got to be so fun to play in if you're a bat.
43:22Absolutely.
43:23That's why his dad, Gary Kubiak, back in the day, I don't think Gary really, it didn't matter who was the bat.
43:29Because he knew that he had an offensive system that was going to produce 1,000 yards.
43:34In motion, Locke sees some space and takes advantage.
43:37Drew Locke headed for the pylon, and he's going to get tied up.
43:41Takes it down all the way to the 5-yard line.
43:44What a run by Drew Locke.
43:48Okay, Drew, I see you.
43:50Why you stop, though, man?
43:52You're just going to see the middle of this, middle of the defense just open up right here.
43:56Watch that great block by George Chalani right there.
43:59But watch Drew slow down.
44:00I think he was thinking about cutting back, maybe running him over, maybe going down.
44:05But he didn't know what to do.
44:06And he gets tackled.
44:08He'll run by Drew Locke.
44:12An awesome run.
44:1230 yards for Drew Locke.
44:14But unfortunately, we've got our first injured Seahawk of the preseason.
44:20So we'll be back after this.
44:21Welcome back to Seattle.
44:29The injured Seahawk, the rookie out of Kansas, Bryce Cable, do.
44:34He was a four-year starter for the Jayhawks.
44:37Walked off under his own power, but looked to be in quite a bit of pain.
44:40So we'll keep an eye on Bryce on the sideline.
44:43Drew Locke with a 30-yard run just before the injury.
44:47Seahawks, 163 yards rushing already tonight.
44:52Damian Martinez, the lone back.
44:54They had 170 on the week last week, guys.
44:56Locke.
44:57нятьBreak.
