03:54The Polynesian is just out there doing what he can, eating up linemen,
03:58doing everything to be a dominant player and make this team.

04:02When we talked to Leo yesterday, he talked about Brandon Peely.
04:05He talked about Quentin Bohanna, who were backing up.
04:07Byron Murphy at that nose spot, guys.
04:10And he said, flashing back to 2013, he said,
04:14when the Seahawks won last, right, it was 10, 11 guys.
04:18You were a rotation.
04:19Nobody knew who they were going to face,
04:20and that was one of the reasons that you guys were so dominant,
04:23because you were fresh the entire football game.
04:25We were dominant because we were just great.
04:27You know, like, stop it, Mike.
04:29We were just great, Kay.
04:29You know, there's nothing, nothing, nothing can do.
04:32Nothing they can do.
04:33But I think Brandon Peely, the dominant,
04:36being able to have a lot of guys being fresh this year
04:38is what's going to change the way that the defensive line dominates this year.
04:42You can trust players.
04:44Leo just talked about that depth and how he loves playing every down.
04:47But if he could play a few less downs this year, that would be great.

05:22and then come up the field and make a big play.
05:23Look at the celebration, man.
05:25Loving it when their guys make plays.
05:27This is Tony Horton, the rookie, who showed out last week
05:34and has a first down on his first reception tonight.
05:38And again, that's what you're seeing more out of this team this year.
05:42All of that excitement when guys make plays.
05:45All of the guys last week, everybody rushing off the bench
05:48when there was a turnover.
05:50That's the new culture that Mike McDonald has brought.
05:54Like, now he's taking ownership of this team and this culture,
05:57and that's what you're starting to see.
05:59Two interceptions last week against the Raiders
06:02and penalties after both because starters like Spoon and Kobe Bryant
06:07sprinting all the way down the field to celebrate with the guys who were in.
06:10We've got a flag in the backfield on this run.
06:13And Mike told us, hey, obviously you don't want to see that in the regular season.
06:16But, guys, right now it's the cost of doing business,
06:18trying to build that team chemistry and that love amongst these brothers.
06:23Yeah, we had a great opportunity doing it.

06:30Great opportunity to continue to talk to all the coordinators.
06:33And everything that they preach at 12 is one.
06:36See, this is what's happening.
06:37It's not individuals happening.
06:38Everybody's coming to become one teammate.
06:41They love when somebody's making a big play.
06:43There's no jealousy.
06:43They just want to be able to build their culture,
06:46become the dominant team that they want to come to,
06:49live to what Mike, the standard that he wants.
06:51And the thing that Aiden told us about this coach that's really different
06:55is that Mike is being very vulnerable,
06:57that he's growing every single week as a young head coach,
07:01and he wants his team to know that he makes mistakes
07:03and he calls himself, holds himself accountable.

08:09And these are tough plays in the rain,
08:11in the mists, in Seattle's time.
08:13I know everybody talks about the weather,
08:15but not just the rain,
08:16but the mists makes the ball a lot more dewy.

10:08He'll get beat, but then the next rep he'll come,
10:10he'll anchor, he'll sit down, he'll learn from it.
10:12I just can't say enough about this kid's hard work,
10:16his work ethic,
10:17and how good he's going to make this offensive line.

10:53but he's also so happy to be reunited.

10:58They were roommates at North Dakota State for a couple years.
11:01Couldn't say enough about Jalen.
11:02He said he did all the dishes.
11:03He mowed the lawn multiple times a week,
11:05and obviously he loved playing alongside him,
11:06but a two-time FCS champ at North Dakota State,
11:0918th overall in the first round for the Seahawks,
11:12and I'd say so far, so good.

11:15He even took Gray around the facility
11:18when Gray first got to Renton, Washington,
11:21so it's pretty cool to see.

11:27He was also a farmer,
11:28grew up in Mound City, South Dakota,
11:30and used to, on his off days at North Dakota,
11:32actually drive the three hours to the farm to help Dad.
11:35And we asked him how his soybeans are doing.

12:36This kid can be a Pro Bowl special teams player.
12:38He can also catch that football.
12:41He's fighting for a job right now
12:43because of this crowded receiver room.

12:49with the way he's playing tonight.

13:02I think the way he's big, he's a big receiver.

13:06You don't have that big guy right now.
13:08Both of the other receivers are kind of small.
13:10But you need that big-body guy in crucial moments.
13:13And, plus, he has good feet.
13:14I mean, obviously, he was either doing the MC Hammer dance,
13:17but I've also seen a lot of guys doing, you know,
13:19these new footwork drills from TikTok
13:21and all these kind of different things.
13:22But I think they need that big-body guy
13:24that can come in on third down, be in the red zone,
13:27get hit, and continue to make those big-time catches.
13:30And this kid can play gunner on punt,
13:32and he can also return kicks in the return game.

15:26Guys loving the game, the enthusiasm that you need to get through this season,

15:36But they're loving each other up and playing through it.
15:38I think that's what you're going to see through Mike's team
15:41is this development of this new culture and continue to play through it.

15:58Last week in four quarters, the Seahawks put up 23 points on the Raiders.

16:16And I know Spaggs is a defensive coordinator who loves blitzing,

16:55And kind of surprised in his rookie season.

17:09And it has been all Bobo and the Seahawks.

17:16It was an impressive first half for the Seahawks as they rack up 23 points on the Chiefs
17:40and lead it 23-7 at halftime.
17:42And, you know, Cliff, you look at the way the performance of this Seahawks team
17:46both offensively and defensively pretty impressive,
17:49especially with that rushing yard's total of 174.
17:52Yes.
17:53Stopping the run and being able to run the ball is key to everything, right?
17:56And the defense right now is playing really well.
17:5834 yards on the rushing, 70 yards in passing is amazing defense.
18:02But here's the thing.
18:03You've got to do it in the second half as well, right?
18:05You've got to be able to close out games.
18:06You've got to be able to tackle.
18:07They're doing a good job of it right now.
18:09Let's see if they can continue to do so.

18:10How about that?
18:11Over 300 yards of total offense for this team.
18:14And Drew Locke and Sam Darnold just marching the team down the field.

18:21Just really an impressive, efficient offense tonight.
18:23And that's what you want, right?
18:25When we talk to the coaches, we talk to the decoordinators,
18:27they want to establish their identity throughout this preseason.
18:31They want the guys to buy in.
18:32One of the things they kept saying is they want to be able to run the ball.
18:35They need to be able to run the ball.
18:36And that's what they're showing.
18:37They came out, ran the ball,
18:38and that will open up so many other things for the quarterbacks, right?
18:41And that's what we're seeing.
18:42And, like I said, they're running the ball, get a play action here, run the ball,
18:44run the ball, play action, get you some touchdowns.
18:47Yeah, just two incompletions between Sam Darnold and Drew Locke in that first half.
18:51And, again, we'll probably see Jalen Milrow here in the second half.
18:54He'll be fun to watch as well, maybe a couple scrambles under his belt.
18:57We'll see what happens here in the second half at Lumen Field.

19:02Let's go back to the booth for Kate, Mike, and Mike.
19:05And there is Jalen Milrow now, Paul, rookie third-round pick.
19:11And at the University of Alabama, we saw the entire second half last Thursday
19:15in the opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.
19:17And he had a good debut, Mike.
19:19Robb completed five of his first six passes.
19:22Had that nice 27-yard run down the right sideline.
19:26I think we might see more from him in his second NFL game.
19:30What about you?
19:30Yeah, absolutely.
19:31This kid needs as many reps as the game will allow him to get, right?
19:36He needs to see as many defenses.
19:38He needs to throw as many passes.
19:40He just needs to be out there running the show so he can get the necessary experience.
19:45We saw him enter the game earlier in the game with Sam Darnold in the game.
19:50That could indicate some things going forward.
19:53You know, you just don't know.
19:54But I will say in training camp, this kid makes impressive throws day after day.
19:58And he's one of the hardest workers on the team.
20:01So can't wait to see him play.
20:03And expect to see him in this second half with the Seahawks kicking off
20:07after the Chiefs won the toss and deferred.
20:09So Sky Moore and Keyshawn Smith, the deep men for Kansas City.

20:20Been on this team for a few years.
20:22Some don't think he's had the career that a number one receiver normally would have.
20:30But he's battling, trying to find a spot on that Kansas City team.
20:34It looks like the night is over for the first round pick for the Seahawks.
20:37That is Gray Zabel.
20:38We talked to Gray about a lot of things, as we said at the end of the first half,
20:41including the mustache.
20:42How long have you been growing a mustache, Gray?
20:45And he said for the past 23 years.
20:47So pretty much since he came out of the room.
20:49This is Keyshawn Smith stumbling forward towards that 35-yard line
20:53where the dynamic kickoffs, if they go into the end zone
20:57and a team takes a touchback, will come out to this year.

21:03But, again, another great week of work for Gray and the offensive line.
21:08The Seahawks, 174 yards rushing in that first half.
21:13Just owning the line of the scrimmage.
21:15I say the offensive line here has a bright future,
21:20but Gray Zabel is even in charge.
21:22Here's why they took him 18th overall.

21:46This is what I love about Mike's defense.
21:48The ability to set edges.
21:50I know that doesn't seem like a big thing right now,
21:53but that play was a routine play.
21:55Stopped because it went at the edge.

21:57The defenders from the back side were able to run down the play.

22:02Swings it out to the flat.
22:04And that's Bosharn Smith, rookie running back.
22:07He's going to be three and a half yards short of that first down.

22:55because we know he's done so much work in the NFL already.

23:00Yeah, this was a good rush by the defensive line,
23:03but I think the quarterback did a great job of finding those holes,
23:06getting back, drawing the scramble,
23:08scramble drill and still being able to throw the ball right down the field,
23:11make a tough throw, and even a better catch right there.
23:14So that was just a great play call by the offensive side of the ball.
23:18It was good movement by the quarterback, Oladokun, right there.
23:22The movement created the space for the pass to get complete.

37:07and those things work because the run game is strong.
37:10And what I love about it, the preseason,
37:12you see Damian Martinez, who was the lead back on that last drive,
37:15scored a touchdown.
37:17Now he's covering a kick.
37:18Got to love it.
37:19Sky Moore lost it in the end zone.
37:21And will smartly just take a knee.

38:23I said, AD, what do you want this defense to be known for?
38:25He said, relentless.
38:26And right there, that was swarming.
38:28You see D-tackles coming out the pile.
38:30You see linebackers.
38:31Everybody in secondary allowing, even though it was a catch,
38:34everybody was there to contain the runner and get him down.
38:37You don't see that very well in the NFL very often now
38:40because people have become lazy.
38:41They don't run to the ball as much as they do,
38:43but if you see the way that this team is being conditioned,
38:46you can see that they're going to be hustling,
38:48they're going to be fast, they're going to be furious,
38:50and they're going to be violent when they meet the tagline.
