00:00Lock, fade routes, and great defense.
00:04Was looking for Torrey Horton.
00:06Nazi Johnson timed it perfectly and knocked it away.
00:10That's a good job by Nazi Johnson right here.
00:13Late hands of the receiver, and he attacked the hands of the receiver.
00:17He knew he was a little bit beat.
00:19That's a great play right there.
00:21I know Torrey Horton wished he could have pulled that in.
00:23Yeah, those are always hard, especially when you're in the red zone.
00:26He's got to protect it from the run game, but still play the receiver.
00:29That's a very difficult play to make.
00:31Have a fullback in on this play for the Seahawks,
00:34and that's who Martinez will follow.
00:37Follows Russell.
00:38Inside the five, still on his feet.
00:41Looks like Charles Amenehu making the tackle for Kansas City.
00:45You okay?
00:45I know Mike is happy that somebody has a fullback.
00:48You're not prehistoric.
00:50You're not prehistoric.
00:51They're bringing it back.
00:52Whoa, whoa, whoa, Mike, Mike, Mike.
00:53You weren't here in the first quarter, Mike.
00:55Yeah.
00:55The whole first quarter I went crazy.
00:57Yeah, but I can't hear you.
00:58I can't hear you.
00:59I feel you, right, but don't use the word prehistoric.
01:01You are prehistoric.
01:02I'm not prehistoric.
01:03Everybody's passing now.
01:04Now it's good to see fullbacks in the game making big plays.
01:08It's pretty good that he got prehistoric into a football game.
01:10I thought we was homies, man.
01:11Okay, three tight ends on the field right now for Seattle.
01:14DeCarnier right there on the back.
01:16Had a touchdown last week.
01:17Oh, what a hit.
01:19Noel Williams and Jack Cochran there.
01:23Delivering some physicality for the Chiefs.
01:25I know he didn't score right there, but when I was a running back at high school, I love stretch, run back, cut back plays.
01:32Just one cut, getting down the hill.
01:34Not too many jerking and jerking.
01:36Just getting down, getting down and trying to score.
01:38I think that's the most important thing when we're running down.
01:40Everybody's going downhill.
01:43Linemen are running their feet.
01:44Running backs are running their feet into contact.
01:46And that's making the team, to me, change the way that the running game is going to see.
01:50You know the rule we have?
01:51Score with your man.
01:53Six offensive linemen on the field.
01:56Lock rolling.
01:59Towards the back of the end zone.
02:01And this one is broken up.
02:04Brian Cook.
02:04That's a good job by Brian Cook right there.
02:08It's a similar play that Gardner Minshew scored on a couple of drives ago.
02:14Drew Locke trying to just find a play to get a touchdown.
02:23All right, so that Seahawks drive ends with an incomplete pass.
02:34Seahawks football is presented by Washington's Lottery.
02:40When you play Washington's Lottery, you're helping fund the pursuit of dreams
02:43through college and career training.
02:46Seahawks turning over on downs, and now the defense has a chance to do something
02:50special for Mike McDonald and the 12s here at Lumen Fields.
02:55Chris Oladokun now in at quarterback for Kansas City.
03:00What's the thinking here, Mike B?
03:02You trying to get a safety?
03:03What's up?
03:03Yeah, I love these kind of situations, these back-up situations with the crowd.
03:07You know that they're coming downhill runs.
03:09Just getting down.
03:10Of course, it's safety.
03:11You called it, Peely!
03:12You called it!
03:13Is that Peely?
03:14Yes.
03:15I don't know if he got out of the end zone.
03:17Brandon Peely was there.
03:19Devin Witherspoon is loving it.
03:22How about the Seahawks defense, and how about big number 95, Brandon Peely?
03:27Well, Peely right here.
03:29Just the penetration and actually getting to the back and making the tackle.
03:36That's a big-time play by nose tackle Mike B.
03:39Look at that.
03:40Well, these are hard plays to do on the goal line.
03:42You know that the offensive line is backed up.
03:44They're coming out first down, second down, and maybe coming out with a play-action pass,
03:48and for him to get underneath, get a sack.
03:50The Tongan is out there.
03:52I know he threw up that tee.
03:53He's happy.
03:54The Polynesian is just out there doing what he can, eating up linemen,
03:58doing everything to be a dominant player and make this team.
04:00And Leo Williams is fired up as well.
04:02When we talked to Leo yesterday, he talked about Brandon Peely.
04:05He talked about Quentin Bohanna, who were backing up.
04:07Byron Murphy at that nose spot, guys.
04:10And he said, flashing back to 2013, he said,
04:14when the Seahawks won last, right, it was 10, 11 guys.
04:18You were a rotation.
04:19Nobody knew who they were going to face,
04:20and that was one of the reasons that you guys were so dominant,
04:23because you were fresh the entire football game.
04:25We were dominant because we were just great.
04:27You know, like, stop it, Mike.
04:29We were just great, Kay.
04:29You know, there's nothing, nothing, nothing can do.
04:32Nothing they can do.
04:33But I think Brandon Peely, the dominant,
04:36being able to have a lot of guys being fresh this year
04:38is what's going to change the way that the defensive line dominates this year.
04:42You can trust players.
04:44Leo just talked about that depth and how he loves playing every down.
04:47But if he could play a few less downs this year, that would be great.
04:51This is George Alani.
04:54Takes it out to about the 32.
04:55Let's take a few more looks at Brandon Peely.
04:58Drake Thomas was there as well, but 95 led the way.
05:01Yeah, he is right there, man.
05:02Just shooting the gap.
05:03Gets in there.
05:05Check it out, Mike.
05:05Look at that, man.
05:07Yeah, this is a good play because obviously he wasn't playing the traditional technique.
05:12They was running some type of inside stunt by the D tackle.
05:15This was a great call by the defensive coordinator
05:17because they knew which way the play was running.
05:19He got a chance to slip off of the guard into the center
05:22and then come up the field and make a big play.
05:23Look at the celebration, man.
05:25Loving it when their guys make plays.
05:27This is Tony Horton, the rookie, who showed out last week
05:34and has a first down on his first reception tonight.
05:38And again, that's what you're seeing more out of this team this year.
05:42All of that excitement when guys make plays.
05:45All of the guys last week, everybody rushing off the bench
05:48when there was a turnover.
05:50That's the new culture that Mike McDonald has brought.
05:54Like, now he's taking ownership of this team and this culture,
05:57and that's what you're starting to see.
05:59Two interceptions last week against the Raiders
06:02and penalties after both because starters like Spoon and Kobe Bryant
06:07sprinting all the way down the field to celebrate with the guys who were in.
06:10We've got a flag in the backfield on this run.
06:13And Mike told us, hey, obviously you don't want to see that in the regular season.
06:16But, guys, right now it's the cost of doing business,
06:18trying to build that team chemistry and that love amongst these brothers.
06:23Yeah, we had a great opportunity doing it.
06:25Offense number 63, 10-yard penalty, first down.
06:30Great opportunity to continue to talk to all the coordinators.
06:33And everything that they preach at 12 is one.
06:36See, this is what's happening.
06:37It's not individuals happening.
06:38Everybody's coming to become one teammate.
06:41They love when somebody's making a big play.
06:43There's no jealousy.
06:43They just want to be able to build their culture,
06:46become the dominant team that they want to come to,
06:49live to what Mike, the standard that he wants.
06:51And the thing that Aiden told us about this coach that's really different
06:55is that Mike is being very vulnerable,
06:57that he's growing every single week as a young head coach,
07:01and he wants his team to know that he makes mistakes
07:03and he calls himself, holds himself accountable.
07:05Oh, I'm stoked, man.
07:08First down mistake by the Seahawks,
07:10so he is first and 20.
07:12Again, back up 10.
07:13Bobo in motion.
07:15Drew Locke in a quarterback right now.
07:17Has his man over the middle,
07:18and Garif Young is wide open
07:20and appears to have a first down,
07:22but another flag on the field.
07:25There's that celebration, though.
07:27Again, teammates out there,
07:28smacking Young on the helmet.
07:30Joshua Williams on the tackle for Casey.
07:32Let's see what this flag is.
07:34Let's see what this one's all about.
07:36Illegal use of hands, hands to the face,
07:38defense number 20.
07:39Okay.
07:40That's when it leaves the time.
07:41He's overplayed for first down.
07:44And that's on the rookie, Noel Williams.
07:47So good work by Young and Drew Locke.
07:49Well, everybody's not going to be understanding.
07:52This was a great catch,
07:54but it really started with the offensive line.
07:56We're giving them credit on the run game,
07:58but now that pocket that Drew Locke just had
08:01was just beautiful to be able to step up
08:03and make a great pass
08:05and continue to get this jack
08:06as Young catches it
08:07and holds on to the ball as they throw him down.
08:09And these are tough plays in the rain,
08:11in the mists, in Seattle's time.
08:13I know everybody talks about the weather,
08:15but not just the rain,
08:16but the mists makes the ball a lot more dewy.
08:19Yes, it does.
08:19That's a really good point.
08:20Might be 24 yards on that hookup
08:22between Locke and Derrick Young.
08:24All right, so the two-minute warning here
08:30in our first half in Seattle.
08:33So we'll be back right after this.
08:41Seahawks football is brought to you by 76.
08:45Go from fan to Seahawks VIP
08:47with the Fuel Forward app.
08:49Scan the QR code for a chance to win.
08:54Seahawks have reached the two-minute warning
08:56here at Lumen Field in Seattle.
08:58They have a 16-7 lead on the Chiefs.
09:00It was an impressive start
09:01for much of the Seahawks' starting offense.
09:04Sam Darnold marches them right down the field.
09:06Touchdown.
09:06Then a Drew Locke comes in.
09:08Touchdown.
09:09Again, 119 yards rushing
09:11in the first quarter alone for this Seahawks team.
09:13So they took a lot of pride
09:15in rebuilding the offensive line
09:17and getting that running game established for this team.
09:20That's what they're looking for this season.
09:21And it looks like they're on the right track
09:23with big Gray Zabel having a second-strong start
09:26for the rookie.
09:28Kate, Mike, and Mike.
09:29All right, Paul.
09:30Looking forward to seeing you and Cliff
09:31at halftime tonight.
09:32Yeah, just how good were Gray Zabel
09:34on the offensive line.
09:36167 yards rushing
09:37and counting for the Seahawks
09:39in this first half.
09:40They had 170 total last week.
09:43Jaquardier-Wrights now in at running back
09:45trying to get towards that 40-yard line.
09:50Yeah, Kate, to that point,
09:52just talking about Gray and Zabel a little bit.
09:55First of all, he had a great game last week.
09:57A lot of these runs went over the left side
09:59of the offense right behind that young man.
10:01Yeah.
10:02And then watching him at practice,
10:04just, you know, seeing him go up
10:06against guys like Leonard Williams, right?
10:08He'll get beat, but then the next rep he'll come,
10:10he'll anchor, he'll sit down, he'll learn from it.
10:12I just can't say enough about this kid's hard work,
10:16his work ethic,
10:17and how good he's going to make this offensive line.
10:19Rock, three-step drop, a little short on the pass.
10:23He's looking for Elijah Arroyo, a flag on the play.
10:26Yeah, we talked to Gray yesterday as well,
10:28and he said,
10:28well, my welcome to the NFL was Max Crosby.
10:31Yeah.
10:31Absolutely.
10:32Lining up across from me,
10:33my very first NFL snap.
10:34He said, other than that.
10:35He said, hands to the face, defense number 20.
10:39Five-yard clearly, automatic plays down.
10:41Well, it's a second.
10:42No Williams, but Gray said, other than that,
10:46it was an awesome first game,
10:48playing here at Lumen Field in front of the 12s.
10:50He couldn't believe how loud it was for a preseason game,
10:53but he's also so happy to be reunited.
10:55Jalen Sundell, who's starting right now at center.
10:58They were roommates at North Dakota State for a couple years.
11:01Couldn't say enough about Jalen.
11:02He said he did all the dishes.
11:03He mowed the lawn multiple times a week,
11:05and obviously he loved playing alongside him,
11:06but a two-time FCS champ at North Dakota State,
11:0918th overall in the first round for the Seahawks,
11:12and I'd say so far, so good.
11:13Oh, yeah, so far, so good.
11:15He even took Gray around the facility
11:18when Gray first got to Renton, Washington,
11:21so it's pretty cool to see.
11:23Another flag on the play.
11:25Yeah, we asked Gray.
11:27He was also a farmer,
11:28grew up in Mound City, South Dakota,
11:30and used to, on his off days at North Dakota,
11:32actually drive the three hours to the farm to help Dad.
11:35And we asked him how his soybeans are doing.
11:37He said, okay.
11:38Holding, defense number 92.
11:41Five-yard penalty will be added to the end of the run.
11:43Automatic first down.
11:45That's on Marlon Tui, low two.
11:47And he said, okay, like every farmer,
11:48we could use a little more rain.
11:49Yeah.
11:50But otherwise, the soybeans are looking pretty good, Mike.
11:53Yeah, what caught me off guard is saying
11:54he's buying some land that he's going to rent to his dad.
11:56I thought that was a little unfair.
11:58No.
11:59He said he may in the future.
12:00It's awesome.
12:01Just so he has some land after his playing days are done.
12:04We hope that's 20 years from now.
12:05Come on, Mike B.
12:06That don't get taxed, man.
12:08Come on, you can wipe that rent off.
12:09Come on.
12:10Smart man.
12:11Rob.
12:12There's Drew Locke.
12:13Derrick Young.
12:15The guy he's looking for once again.
12:16And Young dimes forward for another Seahawks first down.
12:19I really like this kid, Derrick Young.
12:21First of all, because of his special teams contributions,
12:24I was a special teamer.
12:25But this guy's a real wide out that can get open.
12:28Look at that footwork right there.
12:29You saw that little dipsy dude thing.
12:32I can't.
12:32I didn't play receiver.
12:34But you saw that release.
12:36This kid can be a Pro Bowl special teams player.
12:38He can also catch that football.
12:41He's fighting for a job right now
12:43because of this crowded receiver room.
12:46And he's making the case to be in it on the 53
12:49with the way he's playing tonight.
12:50Seahawks calling time.
12:5338 seconds to go in this first half.
12:56And, yeah, as Mike Robb was saying, Mike B,
12:59Derrick Young looking good for Mike McDonald and the Seahawks.
13:01Well, I love this kid, too.
13:02I think the way he's big, he's a big receiver.
13:05I think he's losing DK.
13:06You don't have that big guy right now.
13:08Both of the other receivers are kind of small.
13:10But you need that big-body guy in crucial moments.
13:13And, plus, he has good feet.
13:14I mean, obviously, he was either doing the MC Hammer dance,
13:17but I've also seen a lot of guys doing, you know,
13:19these new footwork drills from TikTok
13:21and all these kind of different things.
13:22But I think they need that big-body guy
13:24that can come in on third down, be in the red zone,
13:27get hit, and continue to make those big-time catches.
13:30And this kid can play gunner on punt,
13:32and he can also return kicks in the return game.
13:35Three catches for 52 yards so far tonight
13:38for number 83, Derrick Young.
13:40Bottom of your screen here.
13:42Locke.
13:44Looking to the right corner of the end zone.
13:46Caught!
13:47Touchdown, Seattle!
13:49There's never enough.
13:51More Bobo here at Lumen Fields.
13:54Great job by Jake Bobo.
14:01A big-time throw by Drew Locke.
14:04Late hands go up to go grab the football.
14:07Mike B., you just talked about having a big receiver.
14:11Jake Bobo said, uh-uh, I'm that guy.
14:13Let me go get this touchdown.
14:14Yeah, he said, I want it, I want it.
14:17And we call that getting moss, right?
14:18You know, that's the worst thing in the DB room.
14:21You turn around, everybody's looking at you.
14:22We saw that.
14:23That's a play that's on national TV.
14:25I think Bobo every year continues to earn a spot
14:28in moments where the competition is very high.
14:31Bobo seems to rise to the occasion at every moment
14:34like Yeast, like Beast Mosby Book.
14:37Jason Myers on for the extra points.
14:40And it is up and good.
14:43After Jake Bobo's second touchdown tonight.
14:46Celebrated his birthday last week.
14:48Yeah.
14:48Got engaged last month.
14:50And he's got two touchdowns in our first half here this evening.
14:54Good throw by Drew Locke.
14:56Put it where only his big body receiver, Jake Bobo, can go get it.
14:59Have some fun, young man.
15:01Look at the sideline.
15:03Yeah.
15:03Look at Big Jay Reed with all the seeds in his mouth.
15:06Look at that.
15:08Spoon.
15:08Pretty cool to see.
15:11And I love this about what's happening right now
15:13because training camp is so hard.
15:15You're going against your teammates every day
15:17and you find you start to hate them a little bit.
15:20You're lying up every day.
15:20You got to go against Leo.
15:21He beats you.
15:22But then you notice what this team is building, this culture, this happiness.
15:26Guys loving the game, the enthusiasm that you need to get through this season,
15:31the 17-game season.
15:32We're going to play 16.
15:33They got 17.
15:34That extra game is a lot harder.
15:36But they're loving each other up and playing through it.
15:38I think that's what you're going to see through Mike's team
15:41is this development of this new culture and continue to play through it.
15:46And the rookie, Brashard Smith, going to take this one out of the end zone.
15:50And he's not even going to make it back to the 20-yard line.
15:53Cody White there with a special teams tackle for your Seahawks.
15:57And how about this, guys?
15:58Last week in four quarters, the Seahawks put up 23 points on the Raiders.
16:04368 yards total offense.
16:07Tonight in the first half, 23 points, 309 yards of offense.
16:12Oh, my goodness.
16:13I know Andy Reid is like, look, Spaggs.
16:16And I know Spaggs is a defensive coordinator who loves blitzing,
16:19loves doing things.
16:20I might not see the second quarter.
16:21He might start blitzing because he can't go to sleep like this tonight.
16:24No, man.
16:25Andy's like, it's preseason.
16:26Elijah Mitchell, the inside handoff.
16:31Gets it out to about the 26-yard line.
16:38Of course, had a great season with the San Francisco 49ers back in 2021.
16:43Those rookie record 963 rush yards.
16:47And how about the first half for this guy?
16:49Third-year player out of Duke, Jake Bobo.
16:52As you mentioned, big dude, 6'4", 207.
16:55And kind of surprised in his rookie season.
16:58Made the team.
17:01And now they love him here in Seattle, understandably.
17:06That's going to do it for our first two quarters tonight here at Lumen Fields.
17:09And it has been all Bobo and the Seahawks.
17:1323-7.
17:14Stay tuned.
17:15Paul and Cliff have halftime after this.
17:16It was an impressive first half for the Seahawks as they rack up 23 points on the Chiefs
17:40and lead it 23-7 at halftime.
17:42And, you know, Cliff, you look at the way the performance of this Seahawks team
17:46both offensively and defensively pretty impressive,
17:49especially with that rushing yard's total of 174.
17:52Yes.
17:53Stopping the run and being able to run the ball is key to everything, right?
17:56And the defense right now is playing really well.
17:5834 yards on the rushing, 70 yards in passing is amazing defense.
18:02But here's the thing.
18:03You've got to do it in the second half as well, right?
18:05You've got to be able to close out games.
18:06You've got to be able to tackle.
18:07They're doing a good job of it right now.
18:09Let's see if they can continue to do so.
18:10Yeah.
18:10How about that?
18:11Over 300 yards of total offense for this team.
18:14And Drew Locke and Sam Darnold just marching the team down the field.
18:18Jake Bobo, a couple of touchdown catches.
18:21Just really an impressive, efficient offense tonight.
18:23And that's what you want, right?
18:25When we talk to the coaches, we talk to the decoordinators,
18:27they want to establish their identity throughout this preseason.
18:31They want the guys to buy in.
18:32One of the things they kept saying is they want to be able to run the ball.
18:35They need to be able to run the ball.
18:36And that's what they're showing.
18:37They came out, ran the ball,
18:38and that will open up so many other things for the quarterbacks, right?
18:41And that's what we're seeing.
18:42And, like I said, they're running the ball, get a play action here, run the ball,
18:44run the ball, play action, get you some touchdowns.
18:47Yeah, just two incompletions between Sam Darnold and Drew Locke in that first half.
18:51And, again, we'll probably see Jalen Milrow here in the second half.
18:54He'll be fun to watch as well, maybe a couple scrambles under his belt.
18:57We'll see what happens here in the second half at Lumen Field.
19:00Again, Seahawks lead it 23-7.
19:02Let's go back to the booth for Kate, Mike, and Mike.
19:05And there is Jalen Milrow now, Paul, rookie third-round pick.
19:11And at the University of Alabama, we saw the entire second half last Thursday
19:15in the opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.
19:17And he had a good debut, Mike.
19:19Robb completed five of his first six passes.
19:22Had that nice 27-yard run down the right sideline.
19:26I think we might see more from him in his second NFL game.
19:30What about you?
19:30Yeah, absolutely.
19:31This kid needs as many reps as the game will allow him to get, right?
19:36He needs to see as many defenses.
19:38He needs to throw as many passes.
19:40He just needs to be out there running the show so he can get the necessary experience.
19:45We saw him enter the game earlier in the game with Sam Darnold in the game.
19:50That could indicate some things going forward.
19:53You know, you just don't know.
19:54But I will say in training camp, this kid makes impressive throws day after day.
19:58And he's one of the hardest workers on the team.
20:01So can't wait to see him play.
20:03And expect to see him in this second half with the Seahawks kicking off
20:07after the Chiefs won the toss and deferred.
20:09So Sky Moore and Keyshawn Smith, the deep men for Kansas City.
20:17See Sky Moore back there.
20:20Been on this team for a few years.
20:22Some don't think he's had the career that a number one receiver normally would have.
20:30But he's battling, trying to find a spot on that Kansas City team.
20:34It looks like the night is over for the first round pick for the Seahawks.
20:37That is Gray Zabel.
20:38We talked to Gray about a lot of things, as we said at the end of the first half,
20:41including the mustache.
20:42How long have you been growing a mustache, Gray?
20:45And he said for the past 23 years.
20:47So pretty much since he came out of the room.
20:49This is Keyshawn Smith stumbling forward towards that 35-yard line
20:53where the dynamic kickoffs, if they go into the end zone
20:57and a team takes a touchback, will come out to this year.
21:00Ty Okada on the tackle for Seattle.
21:03But, again, another great week of work for Gray and the offensive line.
21:08The Seahawks, 174 yards rushing in that first half.
21:13Just owning the line of the scrimmage.
21:15I say the offensive line here has a bright future,
21:20but Gray Zabel is even in charge.
21:22Here's why they took him 18th overall.
21:26In the draft.
21:28This is the line for Mitchell.
21:29Here.
21:31Out of Louisiana.
21:32Did not play last season.
21:33Most of last season because of an injury.
21:36Sign a one-year deal with the Chiefs.
21:38Connor O'Toole, the rookie out of Utah.
21:40Had a big sack late in the game last week.
21:45Good tackle there.
21:46This is what I love about Mike's defense.
21:48The ability to set edges.
21:50I know that doesn't seem like a big thing right now,
21:53but that play was a routine play.
21:55Stopped because it went at the edge.
21:56Set.
21:57The defenders from the back side were able to run down the play.
22:01Edge, okay.
22:02Swings it out to the flat.
22:04And that's Bosharn Smith, rookie running back.
22:07He's going to be three and a half yards short of that first down.
22:10Marion Williams on the tackle.
22:12Connor O'Toole is screaming off the edge right now,
22:16trying to get after the quarterback.
22:18Almost drew a holding call.
22:20See if they can get all the darkness to the ground.
22:27Seth Coleman, who you talked about in the pregame show.
22:30Mike Ragh, number 43, the rookie out of Illinois in there.
22:35Third and four.
22:36Need to get it to the 45-yard line.
22:38Big tight end who caught the lone touchdown for Kansas City tonight.
22:53A little bit surprised to still see him in there
22:55because we know he's done so much work in the NFL already.
22:59Ty O'Connor on the tackle.
23:00Yeah, this was a good rush by the defensive line,
23:03but I think the quarterback did a great job of finding those holes,
23:06getting back, drawing the scramble,
23:08scramble drill and still being able to throw the ball right down the field,
23:11make a tough throw, and even a better catch right there.
23:14So that was just a great play call by the offensive side of the ball.
23:18It was good movement by the quarterback, Oladokun, right there.
23:22The movement created the space for the pass to get complete.
23:27First-down play on a South Dakota Stink.
23:29Here's Oladokun again.
23:30A little bit of a sidearm.
23:31Patrick Mahomes asked to Tonya,
23:33who then fertile's a defender.
23:35And he's going to be very close.
23:37Might have gotten another first down.
23:39Optover Williams, who was trying to get him down.
23:43Yeah.
23:44Just a little play-action pass.
23:45Go ahead. Go ahead, Mike.
23:46No, there's nothing right here.
23:47I think Mike Moore's play just played perfectly.
23:49You get up the field to the quarterback's outside shoulder.
23:51You try to get him from Bussi Kataim.
23:53But this was such a great play, great touch,
23:55throwing it to the tight end.
23:56His ability to be able to jump over a lineman,
24:01a corner, corner, whatever.
24:02They're always watching their knees now.
24:04So you've got to be able to jump as a tight end
24:06because everybody, these tight ends are getting more athletic
24:08every single year, bigger, faster, stronger.
24:11And Smith bounces off of a couple of tackles,
24:13has the first down and more.
24:15Great work by Brashard Smith, the rookie.
24:19Spinning off of, I think, two Seahawks there.
24:23Getting out towards the sideline.
24:24Yeah, Brashard Smith, the rookie, out of SMU.
24:28Good contact balance right here.
24:31Ran into Bahana a little bit, found some space,
24:34got around the edge, gets a first down.
24:36What I like is that he finishes the run physically going forward on his feet.
24:42You know what I call that play, Mike?
24:44Because I don't want to get cut.
24:45Whatever, it doesn't matter who's in the backfield.
24:47I need to be flashing, let people see who I am as a player
24:50so these coaches go back and talk about me
24:52during the film sessions after the game.
24:55Smith, this time headed left, spins his way close to the 16-yard line.
25:01Drake Thomas wrapping him up.
25:04Yeah, SMU's single-season record holder in all-purpose yards,
25:08almost 2,000 all-purpose yards in 2024.
25:11For the first team, all-ACC, rushed for over 1,300.
25:17See Drake Thomas there on the tackle, a little bit of Jamie Sheriff as well.
25:22Again, trying to find some inside linebacker depth on this team.
25:27Jamie Sheriff, a guy we talked about earlier, provides some edge depth as well.
25:32Doken trying to get it to Sky Moore,
25:34and this was one of the disappointments in Moore's game last season.
25:39Just too many dropped passes,
25:41trying to win back the trust of his quarterbacks.
25:44Yeah, too many dropped passes have you watching the games
25:47instead of being in the game.
25:48Because you've got to be able to catch the ball in plays like this.
25:51In preseason, every play is critical when you're being watched and criticized.
25:55You're not just playing for the Chiefs.
25:57You're playing for every other team that's watching, looking for new players.
26:00Patrick Mahomes looking on from the sideline.
26:03I'm not a big fan of his new haircut.
26:05I'm just not.
26:06Thank you for that unsolicited opinion, Mike.
26:09Yeah, Mike.
26:10It's all good.
26:11Go third and five for Kansas City.
26:15Ridokin spins away from some pressure.
26:19And is just going to throw it away.
26:21Great work by the Seahawks there.
26:23Bell was giving chase, as was Jared Ivey.
26:27I think Coach McDonald does a great job of disguising, right?
26:32You've got all of these guys at the line of scrimmage.
26:34Who's blitzing?
26:35Who's coming?
26:36Who's not, right?
26:37And again, Kansas City guessed wrong.
26:39They moved the protection to the right.
26:41The extra guy gained to the left.
26:42You see De'Anthony Bell getting the pressure.
26:46So Harrison Butker out to attempt a 34-yard field goal from the left hash.
26:50Smash is down.
27:01Kick is up.
27:03And it is good.
27:07So it'll be Seahawks football on the other side with his 23-10 lead.
27:11Mike McDonald's defensive coordinator, AD.
27:15Got to be happy with the performance they've seen so far tonight.
27:17Seahawks football is brought to you by the Muckleshoot Casino.
27:28The biggest and best in the Northwest.
27:32Seattle is Seattle-ing tonight.
27:34The rain coming down.
27:36It's been raining and misting on and off all day.
27:39Overcast all day.
27:42Which is actually un-Seattle-like for August.
27:45Yes, she's going nine plays, 49 yards.
27:49Harrison Butker with a 34-yard field goal to make it 23-10.
27:55Here's Helani on the line drive kickoff.
27:58Bounces off of one defender who still had his jersey.
28:02So good work by Jalant who had a special teams tackle earlier tonight for Kansas City.
28:07And guess who's coming in, guys?
28:10Alabama quarterback Jalen Milrow.
28:13I'll tell you one thing.
28:15If Clint Kubiak's offense can find a way to make this kid comfortable,
28:20I just, the National Football League is in for a treat.
28:23This kid has explosive legs, Mike B.
28:26This guy is one of the faster players on the field whenever he's on the field.
28:31And a very strong arm.
28:34And Locke's still in the game.
28:36But you know Jalen Milrow coming.
28:39Blue Locke is indeed in the game.
28:41Saw six on the sideline.
28:43We thought he was coming in.
28:45That's what we have to call the team.
28:47That's how we're going to do this.
28:48That's how we're going to do this.
28:48That's how we're going to do this.
28:48That's how we're going to do this.
28:48That's Jalen.
28:49That was Damien Martinez.
28:52Blue Locke swung it out to Noel Williams.
28:54The rookie out of Cal on the tackle for Kansas City.
28:59And the good news is, guys, our rookie out of Kansas, Bryce Cable,
29:03to on the offensive line back in.
29:05Oh, good.
29:05After we saw him go down and looks to be in quite a bit of pain
29:09at the end of that first half.
29:10We didn't see young Price not missing any opportunities.
29:15Here's Drew Locke from under center.
29:17A couple of pump fakes.
29:19And somehow gets it out to, I believe, that's Cody White.
29:23Thought for sure that Locke was going to go down.
29:26Pocket collapsing around him, Mike B.
29:28And he somehow gets it out to 8-2.
29:31Yeah.
29:32Go ahead, go ahead, Mike.
29:33No, you do this one.
29:34You do the job.
29:35Great job by Drew right here.
29:37Just finding space to get the ball away, right?
29:40There's quarterbacks in this league that would have went down
29:42with that much trash around them.
29:44Look at them covering the football, finding an open receiver,
29:48getting an explosive catch.
29:5017 yards from Locke to Cody White, who, guys,
29:55Cody's already flashed a number of times tonight on special teams.
29:57Yep.
29:58And now in the second half, going to get some run in this Clint Kubiak offense, Mike.
30:02Yeah, I'm excited to see what he's going to do.
30:08Number 20, Noel Williams, walking off to the Kansas City side.
30:11So keep an eye on that.
30:13This is Damian Martinez in the Chiefs' territory towards about 48-and-a-half yard line.
30:18Josh Williams on the tackle for Kansas City.
30:21Good to see Damian Martinez finding some space in the run game.
30:26I know he took some criticism from fans and all of those things from last week,
30:30not having that many explosive runs, but he just didn't have that many opportunities.
30:34He's got a little bit more juice tonight, taking full advantage of his opportunities right now,
30:41averaging over five yards of carries.
30:44Eight carries, 44 yards so far tonight for him,
30:46and this is another running back for Seattle.
30:49Jaquardier Wright, who I don't think he went down.
30:52And Wright's just pushed out of bounds because he had his eyes on six.
30:57What a run by Jaquardier Wright.
30:59Good run by the big back, 6'218 pounds.
31:05But if you stand next to him, he's probably closer to 230.
31:09Look at that, just following his blockers, staying up.
31:12Did he stay up, Mike B.?
31:13Oh, yeah.
31:14Oh, yeah, that knee ain't down.
31:15That's up.
31:17Stays on his feet.
31:19Sprints down the sideline.
31:21Good run.
31:22Run by Wright, and this time lower in the shoulder pads,
31:25trying to get towards that 20-yard line and a first down.
31:29There's nothing more demoralizing as a defensive line
31:33or a secondary linebacker as a defense as a whole
31:37when a team continues to line up and run the ball,
31:40and you can't do nothing to stop it.
31:42It feels like it's just water just running through a hole at this moment.
31:45Every single time.
31:46And the greatest thing about this play call is that it's toss.
31:49It sweeps.
31:50It's dives.
31:51It's stretch runs.
31:52They just don't know how to stop it because as a defender in the end,
31:55you're like, okay, I'm coming downhill.
31:57Then all of a sudden, a tight end gets on your outside shoulder,
31:59and you can't do nothing but to see the running back run past you.
32:02Look at the running backs, Coach.
32:04Danny Palumalu moments ago.
32:08He's got to be so happy with the way that his guys are playing tonight.
32:12Oh, yeah.
32:12We talked yesterday again with Clint Kubiak,
32:14who could not say enough, Mike Robb, about Kennedy,
32:17and not just his work with the running backs,
32:19but with the full backs as well.
32:20Absolutely.
32:21I call him KP.
32:22That's what we call him around the building.
32:23KP is an amazing coach.
32:26What he does is he takes what you do great,
32:29and he takes what you do best,
32:31and he makes it a great quality for you.
32:33And if you've got some things you need to work on,
32:35he spends the time,
32:37he spends the necessary time with you in the meeting room,
32:39on the practice field,
32:40to make sure you get what you need to get.
32:45Seahawks have got 211 rushing yards
32:48and counting so far tonight, Mike Robb.
32:50There's Locke on the boots.
32:53He's got Elijah Arroyo,
32:55and Arroyo appears to have another Seahawks first down.
32:58Yeah.
33:00Elijah Arroyo, this kid's exciting.
33:03Again, he's more of the pass catcher at the tight end position.
33:06There he is right there, just going to slide across.
33:08But when you're running the football like these Seahawks are running the football,
33:12the defense is going to respond when you do play action.
33:16Elijah's been blocking his tail off all night now.
33:20Finally, they throw him a bone for all that blocking.
33:23Good catch.
33:2410-yard bone for Arroyo.
33:28And it's first and goal for the Seahawks.
33:33Canning off to Martinez.
33:34Martinez down inside the three.
33:37Really carrying on the tackle for Kansas City.
33:40It's just good blocking right there.
33:41Right guard Christian Hayes,
33:43who's battling with Anthony Bradford
33:46at that right guard position.
33:49He's putting his hat on a hat
33:51and giving the running back space to find some yards.
33:56This defensive line for Kansas City.
33:59Pretty tired.
34:00They're all probably going to get fired after this game.
34:03I don't know about that.
34:05Brady Russell.
34:07In it pullback.
34:09Martinez goes away from him.
34:11Still turning those legs.
34:13He's not going to get there.
34:14Good work by Kansas City, led by Cam Jones on that play.
34:18Yeah, what I like about what's happening with the offense right now
34:21is just this rhythm that Clint is creating.
34:24It's like run, run, stop it.
34:25Get back up there.
34:26Play action, pass.
34:27Before that play to Aurora,
34:29what was great was that Jake Bobo,
34:30he motioned down, sealed down the defensive end,
34:33sold it like it was a run,
34:35and he was able to go behind him and creep.
34:37And that goes back to that 12-1.
34:38Even though it wasn't Jake's time to get the ball,
34:41he still did what he was supposed to do.
34:42Sealed down the blocker
34:43and sell the play for the team, the coach.
34:46That's a little bit.
34:47Golden goal here from the one.
34:48Martinez kicks it in.
34:52Touchdown Seahawks.
34:54Damian Martinez with his first NFL touchdown.
35:01Good run in by Damian Martinez right here.
35:07Even better blocking by Bryce Cable do.
35:10Right here, just a power play pull.
35:13Follow your pulling lineman right there to the end zone.
35:17That was Beast Moe's favorite play right there,
35:21the power play.
35:21Whenever you see big offensive linemen pulling,
35:24we call that gap scheme.
35:26Damian Martinez has some of the best eyes
35:28in the Seattle Seahawks backfield.
35:31Good job.
35:33Dixon Myers once again on
35:34to attempt the extra point for Seattle.
35:37Dixon gets the snap down.
35:40This one is up and good.
35:42The lead 20, Bryce Cable do with a great block.
35:47And Damian Martinez taking it in for six.
36:01Seahawks football is presented by Washington's Lottery.
36:04When you play Washington's Lottery,
36:05you're helping to find the pursuit of dreams
36:07through college and career training.
36:11Seahawks go 10 plays, 71 yards,
36:15five and a half minutes off the clock.
36:18380 total yards of offense and counting tonight.
36:23And we still have 513 to go in this third quarter.
36:26And 217 of those yards have been on the ground.
36:31Being a former fullback, running back in this league.
36:34That is beautiful.
36:35It's a beautiful thing, Mike B.
36:37I know you don't like it, but it's a beautiful thing.
36:39He likes it when the Seahawks are good, right?
36:41Well, I love it because last year,
36:42the running game was pedestrian at best.
36:45Pedestrian at best?
36:45Yeah.
36:46Nah, it was good, but it wasn't as great.
36:48No.
36:48It was pedestrian.
36:49It wasn't good.
36:49It wasn't good.
36:50It wasn't good.
36:51But to be able to see them come into this preseason game
36:54and be committed to the run game like Mike said they would
36:57continuously and creating the rhythm that Clint is making
37:01in the offense, he allows his quarterbacks to be able to
37:04get to the play-action passes, get to the bootlegs,
37:07and those things work because the run game is strong.
37:10And what I love about it, the preseason,
37:12you see Damian Martinez, who was the lead back on that last drive,
37:15scored a touchdown.
37:17Now he's covering a kick.
37:18Got to love it.
37:19Sky Moore lost it in the end zone.
37:21And will smartly just take a knee.
37:25So Damian Martinez has a touchdown tonight.
37:27Zach Charbonnet got the scoring started for the Seahawks
37:30way back at the start of the first quarter,
37:32and this is what you were talking about before halftime tonight,
37:34Mike Robb.
37:35In this Kubiak offense, it almost doesn't matter.
37:39Obviously, the Seahawks have great options,
37:41but look at everybody beating tonight.
37:44But see, when you have a real system like this,
37:46yeah, the names can change as far as the running back position,
37:51but when you have special guys like a Zach Charbonnet,
37:53like a Kenneth Hawke, when you have special guys,
37:58the scheme just highlights the special players within your scheme.
38:03You see that.
38:04Still running back for Kansas City.
38:08It's open.
38:09Goes play action.
38:10Swins it out to Steele.
38:13Wrapped up.
38:13Three Seahawks converging on it.
38:16Nice work by the Seahawks team.
38:17Oh, I love this work right here because this seems like a routine play,
38:20but one of the things that we talked to AD about, about his defense,
38:23I said, AD, what do you want this defense to be known for?
38:25He said, relentless.
38:26And right there, that was swarming.
38:28You see D-tackles coming out the pile.
38:30You see linebackers.
38:31Everybody in secondary allowing, even though it was a catch,
38:34everybody was there to contain the runner and get him down.
38:37You don't see that very well in the NFL very often now
38:40because people have become lazy.
38:41They don't run to the ball as much as they do,
38:43but if you see the way that this team is being conditioned,
38:46you can see that they're going to be hustling,
38:48they're going to be fast, they're going to be furious,
38:50and they're going to be violent when they meet the tagline.
38:52Pass of one on that play.
38:54Another one that Moore can't hang on to.
38:58And this is what he has struggled with.
39:01The past couple of seasons, second-round pick back in 2022.
39:05And just too many drops the last couple of seasons.
39:07Oh, my goodness.
39:08Yeah, he should have caught that one.
39:11You see Jamie Sheriff right there just breaking on the football,
39:15making the tackle.
39:17But Scott Moore, you got to catch those.
39:19Yeah, it's like his hands are turning to feet.
39:23They don't have ambidextrous thumbs, you know?
39:26Listen to this crap, guys.
39:27This is preseason.
39:32Need the 45.
39:35Pressure coming right up the middle.
39:38And Ridokin spins away.
39:41And then loses his putting on this slick Seattle turf.
39:47Jamie Sheriff coming up the middle.
39:52And great work by the Seahawks defense once again.
39:55Watch Jamie Sheriff right here.
39:57They got a little stunt going on,
39:58but he ended up being free.
40:00And watch him chase down the quarterback right here.
40:04And then he falls.
40:06Watch how he reached.
40:07That's my sack.
40:07I got to get it.
40:08I got to touch it.
40:09That's my eye.
40:09You got to get those sacks.
40:10But see, those blitzes are really hard to stop
40:12when everybody lines up against a line
40:14and the tackles have to pick.
40:16And whoever guy that they pick,
40:17that guy drives back into coverage
40:18and leaves the open hole for the free runner to come through.
40:21And sometimes you just end up having a lot of free sacks.
40:24Hey, guys.
40:24This is Jake Bobo on the proper turn for the Seahawks.
40:28Ole has two touchdown catches in the first half
40:32and gets it out to her about the 29-yard line.
