00:00Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today expressed gratitude to former leader Dr. Mahathir Mohamad

00:06for Malaysia's consistent support of Timor-Leste's journey towards ASEAN membership.

00:12Speaking in his historic address to the Timor-Leste Parliament,

00:16Anwar acknowledged the continuity of Malaysia's position

00:19since the early years of the country's struggle for independence.

00:23He highlighted Mahathir's consistent stance during his time as Prime Minister

00:27and said it was now his duty to ensure the accession process stays on track.

00:33He reaffirmed Malaysia's firm commitment to champion Timor-Leste's ASEAN membership,

00:38saying there was no reason to delay the process.

00:42He also said that Malaysian companies investing in Timor-Leste would do so responsibly

00:47with emphasis on genuine partnership and shared prosperity,

00:51unlike exploitative practices often associated with multinationals.
