00:00Where did the name Candy Girl come from?
00:05How did you get that name?
00:06So Candy Girl.
00:07So this is an interesting story.
00:10I love when people ask me it.
00:11So I started writing music really young.
00:14By the time I got into junior high school, they call it middle school now,
00:19but when I was in junior high school, I had to come up with a way to make some money.
00:23I wanted to go to the studio.
00:24I knew music is what I wanted to do.
00:26I was good at it.
00:27So I came up with the idea.
00:28I always saw like candy bars and chocolates at the store on sale all the time
00:34when I would go with my mom.
00:35I'm like, ooh, maybe I could buy and sell at school.
00:38So that's what I did.
00:40And before you know it, I'm in the hallways in between the bell ringing
00:43and everyone's like, Candy Girl, what do you got today?
00:46So I earned my name.
00:47She was hustling candy bars.
00:49Yes, I love people to hear that story because I didn't just give myself this name.
00:54Right.
00:54So yeah, soul candy got into my first studio with Mo Nitti.
00:59He was the first producer I ever worked with in East Point.
01:02And it just went up from there.
01:04Okay.
01:04So I'm like,
01:13I love you.
01:15Okay.
01:15I love it.
01:16I love it.
