00:00Tennessee basketball dropped a heartbreaker on Saturday, blowing a 17-point first half lead.
00:05At home to fall against rivals Kentucky 80-78.
00:10That this may have revealed a weakness in this team that could cost them in March.
00:15This is a Tennessee team that has routinely suffered untimely turnovers and has struggled with.
00:20Consistency this year under Rick Barnes.
00:22Tennessee played one of its best first halves of the year.
00:25The year followed up by one of its worst second halves of the year.
00:28Outscored after halftime by Kentucky.
00:30Kentucky 49-36.
00:32And when you look at this team, it is certainly...
00:35different from the last few teams of the Rick Barnes era.
00:38Those teams have all had...
00:40multiple foundational tenured players that know what it takes to play under...
00:45and are able to guide young players in that format.
00:48Guys like Josiah Jordan James.
00:50Santiago Vescovi, Zakai Ziegler, Jemai Mayshak.
00:53We can go on.
00:54This...
00:55This Tennessee team is extremely talented, but is just missing those tenured foundation...
01:00pieces and I wonder if that's showing in some of their inconsistencies right now because...
01:05at times, this looks like an immature basketball team on the court.
01:09And Rick Barnes...
01:10has had some criticisms for this team after games as well.
01:13Now, Tennessee gets the week off.
01:14There is...
01:15there's no midweek matchup happening in the next few days and they gear up for a huge game.
01:20against a talented and explosive Alabama team on Saturday.
01:23And it's clear now.
01:24This is not...
01:25a Tennessee team that's going to dominate the SEC regular season.
01:28But could it peak at the right time in March?
01:30We'll see.
01:31It's a talented group that's got a lot of work to do and had some weaknesses.
01:34We'll see.
01:35shown on full display in that embarrassing loss to Kentucky.
