UAE is quietly knocking on Washington's door — asking for a financial safety net if the Ir*n war pushes its economy over the edge.

Behind closed doors in Washington last week, UAE Central Bank Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama raised the idea of a currency swap line with Federal Reserve and US Treasury officials, including Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, according to the Wall Street Journal.

No formal request has been made yet. But the message was clear: the war is hurting.

The UAE has already taken hits — more than 2,800 missiles and drones since February 28, according to Minister of State Reem Al Hashimy. Energy infrastructure has been damaged. Oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz are blocked. Dollar income is drying up.

The Gulf nation fears the conflict could drain its foreign currency reserves, trigger capital flight, and damage its status as a global financial hub.

A lifeline isn't guaranteed. But the conversation has begun. 🇦🇪🇺🇸💸
