00:00I sat down with one of Meta's most powerful women who is at the center of the company's
00:05biggest reinvention in years. Dina Powell McCormick is the president and vice chairman
00:11of Meta. She took over the role in January of this year and I spoke with her in April
00:16about the company's AI build-out plans. Powell McCormick spent around 16 years at Goldman Sachs
00:23where she held various leadership positions and she's also held various critical political roles
00:29particularly in the Republican Party. When I went to DC to meet Powell McCormick I ended up sitting
00:34next to one of her former colleagues at lunch who told me that Dina has one of the biggest networks
00:38of anyone she's ever met. Powell McCormick is very well networked in the Middle East. She also has
00:45inroads to the current administration and she manages to build relationships on both sides of
00:49the aisle and her husband is the current junior senator from Pennsylvania, David McCormick.
00:55Powell McCormick's new role at Meta involves securing funding for data centers and other
01:01infrastructure needed to achieve Meta's AI goals. Part of the challenge Powell McCormick will face in
01:07her new role is establishing Meta as a key player in AI at a time when it is widely perceived
01:13to be
01:14trailing its competition such as OpenAI or Microsoft. The company is also facing legal scrutiny. In March it
01:22lost two lawsuits in two days that found it liable for addictive features and failing to protect
01:28minors on Instagram and Facebook. What struck me when speaking to Powell McCormick was a how polished
01:35she is how warm she is to everyone and b how incredibly well connected she is in business yes but
01:42also on both
