00:00E?
00:00Yes?
00:03So, you're the American who called earlier, the sister of the men on the third floor.
00:09Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we're checking off our wishlist for the upcoming remake of
00:15Resident Evil Code Veronica and the things we'd like to see updated in Capcom's next
00:20epic remake.
00:21Don't move, Claire Redfield.
00:25Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified
00:30about our latest videos.
00:34No, Steve.
00:37Sorry about that little misunderstanding, but I thought you were another one of those mon-
00:42SHUT UP!
00:43Alright, let's address probably the worst aspect of Code Veronica, Steve Burnside.
00:48That cocky, accent-slinging teen prisoner who somehow turns every tense moment into awkward
00:54flirting and look how cool I am energy made him immediately unlikable.
00:59Don't get me wrong, his tragic backstory with the dad betrayal and that heartbreaking end
01:04hits different, but the execution in the original?
01:07Pure early 2000s cheese that aged like milk left out during a T-virus outbreak.
01:12We're hoping Capcom has the guts to either sideline him hard or, hey, if they're feeling bold,
01:19write him out entirely and let Claire carry more of the emotional weight solo.
01:24Maybe replace him with the more grounded ally or even lean into Leon connections or a brand
01:29new survivor.
01:31The story beats he enables are important, but in 2027, we deserve better than that guy.
01:48A better Steve.
01:50It's all my fault.
01:52Don't say that.
01:54Listen to me.
01:55We'll escape from here.
01:58Together.
01:59Even if Steve Burnside sticks around in the Code Veronica remake, Capcom has a golden opportunity
02:05to make him someone we actually root for.
02:07Instead of the original's annoying and rough edges, imagine a version where his prison-hardened
02:13survival instincts feel earned and his bond with Claire grows to share trauma rather than
02:18instant infatuation.
02:19Give him sharper, less cringey dialogue that reveals layers of resentment toward Umbrella and
02:25quiet moments of self-doubt that make his arc land with real weight.
02:29We could see expanded scenes exploring his skills as a mechanic or fighter,
02:34turning him into a genuine asset during those chaotic Rockford escapes and Antarctic nightmares.
02:39A stronger Steve could add meaningful tension to the sibling dynamics with the Ashfords
02:44and make the emotional stakes of the final act feel earned.
02:48Capcom's elevated supporting characters before, so let's hope they transform Steve into the
02:53tragic, memorable ally the story always hinted he could be.
02:56You're warm.
03:00Steve, you've got to hang in there, okay?
03:05Uh, my brother's come to save us.
03:07We're getting out of here.
03:08Dangerous Zombies.
03:22Resident Evil Code Veronica's Zombies always had that eerie, shambling charm, but even by 2000
03:28standards, they were more annoying than terrifying once you got the handgun rhythm down.
03:33For the remake, we're hoping Capcom cranks the threat level way up like they did in RE2 and RE3 Remake.
03:40Imagine zombies that actually learn, dodging gunfire better, climb obstacles to cut off escape routes,
03:47or reacting to sound in smarter ways during those tense Rockford prison and Antarctic facility runs.
03:53Adding some fresh mutation variety too, with some exploding into acid sprays when killed,
03:58others developing tougher hide after taking damage, or even temporary virus bursts that turn regular
04:04shamblers into sprinting nightmares mid-fight. Make every corridor feel risky again, forcing
04:10smarter resource use and positioning instead of just circle strafing. The Veronica virus deserves
04:16enemies that live up to its reputation for elegant, horrifying evolution. Capcom make us scared to open
04:23every door again.
04:36Quality of life improvements.
04:40Don't move.
04:49Code Veronica was a beast back in 2000, but some of its quirks have not aged gracefully. Endless backtracking,
04:57cryptic item descriptions, and save rooms that felt a million miles apart could test even the most
05:02patient survivor. For the remake, we're hoping Capcom updates mechanics such as quick item radial menus so
05:08you're not pausing mid-zombie swarm, and smarter autosaves that respect your progress without spoiling
05:14tension. We'd also love to see updates to movement, making characters navigate the environments more
05:19quickly and realistically to match the tension of the experience as well as the speed and horror of
05:25each encounter. Accessibility options like adjustable FOV, colorblind modes, and multiple difficulty
05:31sliders would make the game welcoming for newcomers while keeping the classic challenge intact for
05:36veterans. Little things like these would let the incredible atmosphere, story, and horror shine
05:41without the old-school friction getting in the way.
05:45I'm still alive?
05:49Cleaner narrative.
06:02Code Veronica's story is packed with Redfield Family Drama, Ashford Family Madness, and Veronica
06:08Virus Intrigue, but the original's fragmented files, sudden time jumps, and dense lore drops could leave
06:14even dedicated fans piecing things together after multiple playthroughs. For the remake, we're hoping
06:20Capcom delivers a tighter, more cohesive narrative that flows naturally while still expanding the
06:25universe. Smoother transitions between Rockford Island Chaos and the Antarctic Nightmare with
06:31environmental storytelling and updated files could make the sibling rivalry between Alfred and Alexia
06:37feel truly personal and tragic. Deeper dives into Claire's determination post-Raccoon City,
06:42Chris's off-screen heroics, and the full weight of the Ashford legacy would enrich every moment without
06:48overwhelming new players. Keep the gothic horror soul intact, but make the emotional beats and twist land
06:54with RE2 remake level clarity and impact. The bones are already there, Capcom just needs to polish them
07:01into a gripping, unforgettable Redfield Saga chapter.
07:04It turns out that Alexia's work wasn't much of anything, so now the only thing left is revenge.
07:11Keep the weird.
07:23Code Veronica has always been one of the weirder entries in the series, with its evil aristocratic
07:29twins, cloned siblings, a virus named after a tragic opera singer, and an Antarctic base hiding ancient
07:35horrors. That glorious strangeness is what makes it special, and we're hoping the remake keeps every ounce of it
07:42intact. We want Capcom to lean harder into the darker undercurrents that were somewhat lessened by the
07:47original's technical limits. Amp up the psychological isolation of Claire trapped in Rockfort, the grotesque
07:53body horror of the Veronica virus mutations, the tragic family dysfunction of the Ashfords, and the creeping dread of
08:00those frozen ruins where humanity feels completely abandoned. Make Alfred's obsession and Alexia's god
08:06complex feel truly unhinged and sinister, with heavier tones of grief, betrayal, and existential horror.
08:13Preserve the bonkers plot twists, but deliver them with the grim, mature atmosphere of later Resident Evil games.
08:20But I cannot let you escape now.
08:25Alfred, you cross-dressing freak!
08:29Sibling Synergy
08:33Chris!
08:37I missed you so much!
08:39Claire Redfield has always been the heart of Code Veronica, a determined, capable survivor stepping
08:44out of her brother's shadow just months after Rackland City. That focus made her journey feel personal
08:50and empowering, and we're hoping the remake keeps her firmly in the spotlight as the main protagonist.
08:55At the same time, Capcom could add some real magic by letting brother and sister briefly team up during
09:01key moments. Imagine synchronized sequences in the Antarctic base where you switch between Claire's
09:07agility and Chris's raw firepower, covering each other during intense set pieces or tackling joint
09:12puzzles that highlight their sibling bond. These controlled team-up segments could deliver satisfying
09:17payoff without diluting Claire's solo survival story. It would deepen the Redfield family emotional core
09:23while giving fans the long-awaited reunion vibe in a way that feels earned and tense. Keep Claire
09:29leading the charge, but let the siblings shine together when it counts most.
09:33Chris, promise me. Please promise that you won't leave me alone again.
09:38I'm sorry Claire, but it's not over yet. There's still something we've got to do.
09:42Better Bosses
09:56Code Veronica delivered some truly wild boss fights, but many of them felt more frustrating than epic
10:02thanks to fixed cameras, tank controls, and awkward pacing. The giant alligator, the mutated Nosferatu,
10:08and the final confrontations with the Ashford's had amazing concepts that just needed more room to
10:13breathe and terrify. For the remake, we're hoping Capcom turns these into standout set pieces worthy of
10:19the Aryan engine. Give us dynamic, multi-phase battles that use the full environment, crumbling
10:25Antarctic platforms, collapsing Rockford structures, and creative virus mutations that force you to adapt
10:31on the fly. Make the Ashford twins' encounters deeply personal with unique mechanics that reflect
10:36their twisted sibling dynamic and god-complex madness. Imagine visceral cinematic moments that
10:42blend survival horror tension with satisfying action and weak points that actually feel rewarding
10:47to discover. Environmental hazards you can weaponize, and visual spectacle that lives up to the Veronica
10:52virus' horrifying potential. Put the survival in survival horror.
11:15Code Veronica nailed the isolation of being stranded on a remote umbrella outpost, but their survival
11:22tension sometimes took a back seat once you stocked up on ammo and herbs. For the remake, we're hoping
11:28Capcom doubles down on that raw survival horror core, especially in those early Rockford prison and
11:33island sections where resources should feel desperately scarce. Make every bullet, every herb, and every scrap of
11:40healing really count. Limited inventory pressure, smarter enemy placement that drains your supplies, and
11:46environmental scarcity that forces tough choices like do you risk exploring for extra ammo, or push forward with
11:53what you have. The Antarctic base could feel even more oppressive with dwindling power, freezing temperatures
11:58affecting movement, and the constant threat of running dry during long treks between safe rooms. This approach would
12:05heighten the dread and make every small victory feel earned, turning the outpost from a playground into a true
12:11desperate struggle for survival.
12:15We did it! We're finally out!
12:20Endgame content at launch. Code Veronica delivered some great post-credits replay content like unlocking the
12:27battle game mode after your first clear, and weapons like the rocket launcher for strong rankings. For the remake,
12:33we're hoping Capcom goes all in with a full suite of unlockables and extra modes available right at launch.
12:39A robust new game plus that carries over upgrades and opens alternate paths, rewarding high ranks with
12:45infinite ammo weapons, new outfits, and challenge modifiers would be ideal. Bring back and expand the
12:51battle game into something even bigger, maybe with mercenary-style time attacks or hardcore survival variants.
12:58Giving us all this content immediately instead of locking it behind later DLC or patches would massively
13:04boost replayability and show respect for the community that's been waiting years for Veronica's return.
13:10After all this time, the weird Antarctic nightmare deserves to keep us hooked for the long haul.
