00:00Every day a president faces storms most people never see.
00:04Keep your nerve and remember the nation comes first, you get through.
00:08I know you know that feeling yourself.
00:11Well, I appreciate those words. Those words are fantastic.
00:14And I just want to say it's an honor to be with you today.
00:18We are making a little bit of a tour of some of the fantastic things you've done.
00:23Do you consider the Panama Canal your greatest achievement?
00:30Well, well.
00:32Right then, yes.
00:36The canal stands as one of my proudest battles, no question.
00:40But greatness is a strange thing.
00:42It isn't always the biggest or boldest job that matters most.
00:46The Panama Canal showed what America could achieve if we held steady and acted fast when the world dragged its
00:51feet.
00:52That said, I measure my greatest work by the lives improved.
00:57The park set aside, the food and drugs made safe, the square deal given to all, not just to a
01:04few.
01:04Still, when I stood in the mud watching those steam shovels, knowing ships would pass through, changing the world's map
01:10forever,
01:11I felt I had left a mark that would last.
01:15Okay. You did. Thank you.
01:30You
