00:00It has to get in that lane, which is doing.
00:02Wow, just as I say, that's pretty impressive.
00:05So today's a bit of an interesting one
00:07because we're hanging out with Tesla.
00:09And last week I got a call from them and they said,
00:10Ben, we don't usually do this,
00:12but we've got something super massive and huge
00:14that we have to unveil to you guys.
00:16We're gonna fly you up to Brisbane.
00:17And they never do that.
00:18So we're here in Brisbane.
00:19They have a product so important that they had to do it.
00:22So I really had no idea what to expect
00:24when I woke up at 4 a.m. this morning,
00:26jumped on a plane to come check out this new product
00:29that Tesla was unveiling.
00:30And as it turns out, it's not a right-hand-drive
00:33Cybertruck like I first thought.
00:34They're launching full self-driving supervised,
00:37or FSD bracket S, which is massive news.
00:40And you'll be allowed to drive it on Australian roads
00:43in your Tesla if you buy full self-driving.
00:46And the caveat there is it's $10,000.
00:49But it's pretty impressive.
00:50I had a chance to play around with it today.
00:52I've probably driven over 100 kilometers with FSD S.
00:55I'm gonna show you guys all about it in this video.
01:01Apparently, this is still like a bit of an early version
01:04of the FSD supervised.
01:06So we'll see how that goes.
01:08But they did say to us that it may do 5 to 10 Ks
01:12under the speed limit and sometimes not indicate early enough.
01:15But by the time other Tesla drivers out there,
01:17like you guys get your hands on it,
01:19it should be pretty sweet.
01:21So yeah, just waiting to go.
01:23See how it goes.
01:23All right, first time full self-driving supervised.
01:30Okay, we're gonna put it into drive.
01:33Press accelerate to drive.
01:35Okay, so I'm driving right now.
01:38How do I engage it is the question.
01:41Okay, so all I have to do is press this button
01:44on the right-hand side of the car,
01:45on the right-hand side of the steering wheel,
01:46and we're off.
01:48Okay.
01:50That's kind of weird.
01:51Hopefully, you guys can see on the screen.
01:52But all I have to do now, apparently,
01:54is just kind of sit here with my hands.
01:57And I guess that's the scary part.
01:58It's like how many people
02:00are just gonna start playing with their phone.
02:02But apparently, if I take my eyes off the road
02:04and look to you guys for too long,
02:06they don't disengage.
02:08Theoretically, I, from this point,
02:10don't have to touch anything.
02:12This is a pretty serious...
02:13I'm gonna hurry it up here because...
02:15I guess if you were driving it,
02:17then you'd do the same thing I'm about to do.
02:18But I do kind of want to see
02:20if it'll pull across this intersection
02:21because it's like a dual-lane road.
02:24Okay, so now let's see if it stops.
02:28There's no way that it pulls across this road.
02:31There's no way.
02:32Now there's a car blocking it,
02:33so let's not be able to see.
02:38There's no way that it does this.
02:42I'm kind of terrified.
02:43You can see that holding the steering wheel like this
02:44because I can't see shit.
02:47Okay, there's no one coming to my right.
02:49I don't know what's happening on the left.
02:50I don't think it knows either.
02:52Okay, it could pull out.
02:54Okay, it's pulling out.
02:58Ah!
02:59It did it!
03:01And now it's moving.
03:04So sitting 60 in a 70,
03:06I do wish I was going a little bit quicker.
03:07I think I can actually hit the accelerator pedal
03:09and speed it along a little bit.
03:10So we'll see if I accelerate it.
03:13Yeah, so it hasn't disengaged.
03:16I'm just hurrying it up.
03:19Autopilot will not brake.
03:20Okay, so if you're accelerating,
03:22it's telling me it won't brake.
03:22So we're coming up to an intersection.
03:24So let's see if we can figure out a roundabout.
03:31Oh God, it doesn't have good visibility either.
03:34Oh my God.
03:35Look at that.
03:38The person behind me is up my ass.
03:45Yeah, it worked it out.
03:50And it speeds back up again.
03:51So this is not an easy roundabout.
03:53It doesn't have a lot of visibility through these trees.
03:56It does know there's a car there though.
03:57It doesn't know what the car's doing.
03:58Okay, now it knows what the car's doing.
04:00It's left the roundabout, enters the roundabout.
04:07Yeah, it's definitely a little bit slower than
04:10you would drive in a car.
04:12I think this person behind me is getting quite fed up, but
04:15sorry, mate.
04:16I'm FSD-ing.
04:19So I'll just try and hurry it up a little bit.
04:24Okay.
04:25It's doing okay through there.
04:26I'm back off the pedal.
04:28So it's getting in the right lane.
04:32It's got it wrong.
04:33It's got it wrong.
04:40Yeah, so that was an interesting one.
04:42So it was a right turning lane just before an actual right turn at an intersection.
04:49And it thought that it was meant to use that right turning lane to turn right at the intersection.
04:54It's an interesting one because they're not uncommon in Australia, those type of
04:59intersections where there's like a bit of a slip road before you go either around a roundabout or
05:03through an intersection.
05:04So I'm going to just drive for a little bit and I'll join you when the roads get a bit
05:10tougher.
05:11We are in city streets, but I think there are some harder roads coming up.
05:14So let's cut to those.
05:16So we're about to do a merge onto the freeway, 100 kilometers an hour car behind me.
05:22It's found a slot in the traffic.
05:23I was kind of hoping that there would be less slots, so we'd have to figure out the slot,
05:27but it has done it pretty well.
05:29And now we're just cruising.
05:30So this is the funny one, right?
05:33So we're sitting, we're climbing up to the 100 kilometer hour speed limit.
05:38A lot of people are going to want to use this on the freeway.
05:40And I think that's the best use case for this technology because highways, a lot of the time
05:45you just spend doing this, which is monitoring your surroundings and sitting behind the car in front
05:52of you. It's going to be interesting because our car's merging at a bit of a slower pace.
05:56So we'll see what it does.
05:57It kind of, like in Australia, you just let this person in.
06:00So it has managed to do it at UTIN.
06:03It kind of managed, it managed the speed there a little bit, but yeah.
06:08On the freeway, I think it makes a lot of sense.
06:10I do wonder when it's going to want to do an overtake because we're on this freeway for the next
06:1410 kilometers.
06:15So there it goes.
06:15Now it's doing, it thought about it.
06:17It's doing an overtake.
06:19Smooth overtake.
06:20I mean, by far the smoothest system that I've used in terms of autonomous lane change in Australia.
06:29Use a lot of Kia products that have it.
06:32This is pretty darn good.
06:34They know what they're doing.
06:35That's very smooth.
06:36Overall, the actual steering system is not jerky at all.
06:40It doesn't pinball in the lane.
06:41It does make minute adjustments, but I'd have to say it's definitely smoother than a lot of systems out there.
06:47So the traffic's stopping, so let's see what it does.
06:50I'm covering the brake.
06:55Yeah, I mean, it's pretty good.
06:57It keeps a good gap, safe gap.
06:59It's an interesting one because for me, I like being in the outside lane sitting on the speed limit,
07:05whereas this thing is just very happy to sit in the middle lane.
07:08I think when it releases to customers, you can definitely change with some of the settings and things like that
07:14and kind of make it more aggressive.
07:16I know you can do that in American markets with full self-driving, but
07:21in Australia, it'll be interesting to see how they juggle that because I wouldn't mind sitting in that lane bang
07:26on 100,
07:27whereas right now we're sitting at 50 in the middle lane.
07:29So, yeah, I mean, the question is like, why wouldn't I just indicate right now and get in that lane?
07:37But I'm not going to do that because we're testing it, but I have to say, quite impressive so far.
07:43Okay, so now I've had a bit of time with the car.
07:45I'm going to try and run you guys through how you actually do this full self-driving thing.
07:53So I'm going to go handheld for this screen in front of me.
07:56Let's switch to that now and I'll show you how to do this.
07:58So here's your screen.
07:59You've got a Tesla Model 3, Model Y, old gen, new gen.
08:03You'll recognize this screen.
08:05Jump into the car, bottom right-hand corner, and then you come up here to autopilot.
08:10And if you've got this software, you'll see traffic-aware, auto-steer, full self-driving, supervised.
08:17So that's what this video is about and that's what everyone's getting excited about.
08:21You have to go through a bunch of this information, which I'm going to put up on the screen now
08:24in case you want to read it.
08:26And basically what you have to do is switch that thing on from park or select it up here.
08:31This is a secondary menu.
08:33So you hit that one and then it pretty much does it at all times.
08:37From there, it's literally a matter of chuck your seatbelt on.
08:40Swipey on this Model 3, Model Y has obviously got a stalk over here, but you hit that.
08:45You have your route selected.
08:47You press drive like this.
08:50You hit this thing.
08:52See you guys in a second.
08:53Okay, so it's getting serious now.
08:55I've been sitting on the highway for 20, 30 kilometers and now we're in the city.
08:59So this is where I get nervous.
09:02So it has to pick the lane because there's a lane off to the right here.
09:05There's the inside lane, which I think is about to end.
09:07It stuck me in the middle lane based on what's on the screen, but now it knows it has to
09:12get to the right-hand lane.
09:13So I guess it's already set itself up to do that, which is quite smart.
09:17I have some thoughts about what happened on the freeway and generally it was pretty much bang on.
09:23There was a couple of occasions where I could see that there was a car coming up pretty fast in
09:27the distance.
09:28And I didn't really want to pull in front of it because it does sit bang on the speed limit.
09:32Obviously it can't exceed it, but that was an interesting one.
09:37Other interesting one in Australia.
09:39Now we have a lot of variable speed signs, so they're above the highways.
09:45And there were some occasions where I thought they were stop signs because they're illuminated red with a white lettering,
09:50but it didn't get confused, which is the good news.
09:53I was worried that it was about to try and slam the brakes on. There's a car trying to jam
09:57itself in here in front of me.
09:58I think it's going to let it in. Yep, so let it in.
10:00There's another car behind me. I think this car is also going to go in front of me.
10:03Yep.
10:04I think that's something that happens when you are FSD-ing.
10:08But it has left a massive gap here, which I know is not making people happy.
10:11So I can just hurry it up by hitting the accelerator pedal.
10:13If you couldn't do that, it would be a little bit more of an issue, but let's see what it
10:17does here.
10:18Should get in that lane. Yep, got in that lane. Didn't indicate.
10:21Okay, probably should indicate in that situation.
10:24This is a tight corner. Okay, we can do it.
10:29We've got a stop sign up here with a left turn on a one-way, so it shouldn't be too
10:32much of a problem.
10:33But there are cars coming down off a bridge, so I'd have to read a little bit of elevation, but
10:38we'll see what it does.
10:38Stop sign. There's a chance to pull out in front of this truck that there's cars on the outside lane.
10:44It doesn't know that it's two lanes, so it's not that keen to pull out.
10:51Okay, I won't have a chance to pull out yet.
10:54I'll tell you when I'd pull out, and we'll see when it does it.
10:57So there's a chance now. It didn't do it. No, didn't do it.
11:04There might be a chance in a second.
11:07Okay, so it's pulled out in front of someone.
11:09Not aggressively, but it has pulled out in front of someone, which is not going to make me very happy.
11:13It has to get in that lane, which it's doing.
11:15Wow, just as I say.
11:17That's pretty impressive.
11:22Yeah, that's pretty quick.
11:23Just as I thought about looking at the screen.
11:25By the time I looked at the screen, I knew I had to be in this lane.
11:28I'd already thought about it, so that's pretty impressive.
11:31So let's see how long it takes for the system to disengage.
11:35So if I stop staring ahead, the interior camera should know that I'm not watching the road,
11:43and it should beep in me and basically tell me that it's about to disengage.
11:46So I'm going to stop staring ahead.
11:48I'm going to look out the window. Let's see.
12:11So that did take a little bit of time.
12:13I'm now looking ahead again, and it re-engages.
12:17So if I sit here and pretend like I'm playing on my phone, let's see how long it takes.
12:27So that didn't take long at all.
12:28So it is a supervised system.
12:32It's not too bad.
12:33I think a lot of the new electric vehicles that we're getting in Australia,
12:38a little bit too aggressive.
12:40I think this one's probably a fair amount.
12:42It did take a surprising amount of time to yell at me when I was staring out the window.
12:47But I think overall, it's still pretty solid.
12:50There you go.
12:51So we are now on loop two or route two.
12:55So we drove all the way into Brisbane City from out near Mount Cotton, I believe.
13:00And now we're here on some back roads, 50 kilometer hour speed limit.
13:07There's a funny turn coming up.
13:08So I turned the camera on to see what it does.
13:10But so far on these back roads is great.
13:12I mean, these are pretty decent winding roads and it's not hanging around.
13:17There's not any amount of phantom braking or things like that happening, which is quite impressive.
13:23The wheels speed is normal.
13:26It's smooth, smoother than so many drivers out there, especially on the controls.
13:30Like it just slows itself down, speeds itself up really easily.
13:33Let's see what it does here.
13:35This looked like a bit of a confusing one on the map.
13:37And it is a bit confusing.
13:38So let's see.
13:38It's a stop sign, a giveaway sign, sorry.
13:41With quite an angle to it and a bit of a bridge.
13:46Nothing wrong with that.
13:48It does its job.
13:49It didn't indicate though.
13:50A bit strange.
13:51And we'll see how it goes here with the speed because there is a car behind me.
13:54You do find yourself hitting this accelerator pedal quite often.
13:59Interestingly, so I'm hitting it now.
14:00I'll bring it up to 50.
14:01Hit max 50.
14:02It's pretty happy to sit there.
14:04So it's a funny one.
14:05It kind of struggles to stay.
14:07It struggles to get up to the speed.
14:08But once you hit that accelerator pedal and kind of hurry it up a little bit,
14:11it's pretty happy to stay there.
14:15But yeah, I mean, so far so good.
14:17Looks like there's a couple of interesting turns coming up.
14:19But honestly, so far there hasn't been much to write home about.
14:21I haven't been able to trouble it.
14:22Coming into one of the car parks where we just did a little bit of a stretch our legs moment.
14:27There was a car that it didn't see on the other side of a garbage truck.
14:34So the car came out from behind the garbage truck.
14:36There was only enough room to fit one car at a time.
14:38And it did move over a little bit.
14:40But it was just a situation, I think, where you just decide to take over yourself.
14:46And use your humanness, as I'd like to say.
14:49So I think you'll agree that the full self-driving supervised is pretty darn impressive technology.
14:56But now that we're back in the car together, I want to read through some of the questions
14:59that you guys might have.
15:01And we do have some answers.
15:02We weren't able to do a Q&A or an interview with any of the Tesla folks that were here.
15:07But they did answer some questions themselves that we might have together.
15:12So when will customers with full self-driving on their Tesla get their updates?
15:17So they say it's closer than ever.
15:20It's functional on public roads.
15:22And I think it's only a matter of time at this point.
15:24They are going to do a scheduled release to customers with full self-driving software
15:29already on their vehicles.
15:31So that's an interesting point.
15:33So to get this software, you have to have full self-driving, which is a $10,100 option,
15:39$10,000 option here in Australia available on all Teslas.
15:44What models will get it?
15:45Model 3 and Model YHW4.
15:49And what are the options for customers to get full self-driving once launched?
15:52So it'll be available as a full self-driving option.
15:55So if you get full self-driving, introduce a subscription model.
15:58That's an interesting one.
15:59So it sounds like it'll be potentially subscription on top of full self-driving.
16:03I guess we'll find out.
16:04And you'll get a free 30-day trial upon delivery.
16:07Government approval questions.
16:08They have outlined this.
16:10It's level 2 ADAS.
16:12So it's compliant to all current state and federal laws.
16:15And ultimately, as you saw in the video that the driver must maintain responsibility for
16:20the vehicle.
16:21So when I was staring out the window earlier in the video, it did catch me, which is good
16:25news.
16:26And then finally, who's at fault in an accident?
16:29And well, that would be you or me, the person behind the wheel, which is the most important
16:34part about all of this technology that you've seen today in this video.
16:38So as we pull out of here, I just put the cameras down.
16:41It doesn't really know what it's doing.
16:43So it's telling me to pay attention to the road and then takes off.
16:45So I was staring at all these cameras, setting things up.
16:48It does use the interior camera to tell me what the heck I'm doing.
16:53And now we're off.
16:54It's literally that simple when it comes to this full self-driving supervised.
16:59You might be able to tell on the screen, it's going quite slow, 30 to 50.
17:03I can hurry it up.
17:04We'll see what it does down here because it's actually, it doesn't know it's in the wrong
17:07lane.
17:07So I'm just going to take over for a second and then reactivate.
17:12Okay.
17:13So we're back on track.
17:14It's a funny one.
17:15It was a solid line and it pulled into the sort of inside of the solid line.
17:19But now we're back on track.
17:21Stop sign with the right turn.
17:22There's a car indicating down there.
17:24There's a ute coming.
17:25Hopefully it doesn't pull it in front of this ute.
17:27No, it has seen the ute.
17:28And now it should be sweet.
17:29Good to go.
17:30It does stuff as quickly as you can think.
17:33So it'll indicate as quickly as you would as a human.
17:36It pulls out in front of cars fairly safely, but firmly, like it doesn't hang around.
17:43And you don't want it to either.
17:43You want it to be assertive in what it's doing when it's driving.
17:46It is darn impressive.
17:48This is quite early software.
17:50The one that people will get and will be rolled out to everyone else is better.
17:56It sits about 10Ks under the speed limit in most places.
17:58But if I hit the accelerator pedal with my right leg, it's still self-driving,
18:04supervised, but it kind of speeds itself up a little bit.
18:06So now we're sitting at 50, which is the speed limit.
18:08Reads the road signs.
18:09Compared to a lot of other lane keep systems that I've used,
18:13the Tesla one's quite special because when there's no line marking on the road,
18:19it doesn't just freak out, disconnect, and then you go, oh, shit.
18:22It can kind of understand based on where the cars are around you,
18:25basically where the roads are going much further ahead than I can see,
18:29where the line markings might be, and it figures it out from there.
18:32I should say that we're on the third leg of the journey here.
18:37See how it negotiates this double roundabout?
18:38So there's a car coming around now.
18:40It's seen it.
18:41It does have a chance to go now.
18:44And away it goes.
18:45It's so impressive.
18:47Okay, so we're driving through much more heavily populated areas now.
18:51I've got the full self-driving superpowers going.
18:54It's pretty darn good so far.
18:57A lot more traffic on the road, dual carriageway.
19:00There is a clear way here at this time of the day.
19:02The traffic's stopping.
19:03It's stopping.
19:04But, you know, there's cars like right now on my right-hand side.
19:07There's cars turning to the right.
19:08You don't want to be in that lane.
19:08You want to be in this lane.
19:09It can figure that sort of stuff out,
19:11but I want to see how it goes
19:13in terms of negotiating a lot of this traffic
19:15because there is quite a lot of it.
19:17So it's pretty keen to sit behind cars.
19:19If there's an upcoming turn, it likes to be in that lane.
19:23On the highway, it did a good job of getting out of the way,
19:25but on dual carriageways like this where there's a lot of traffic,
19:28it's like you would.
19:29You want to hang in the lanes where people aren't going to be peeling off to the right,
19:33to the left.
19:34It knows roughly where it wants to be like you would,
19:37which is, I think, one of the impressive things that stood out to me so far.
19:41It's very quick to pull away, and it kind of does that creep forward thing
19:45that a lot of cars or a lot of drivers do.
19:48It's funny when I say cars because I'm really talking about humans.
19:51A lot of humans do it.
19:52You would as a driver.
19:54Highway is coming up.
19:55It needs to be in the left-hand lane, which it is.
19:57Road work ahead, truck on my right.
19:58There's a lot of stuff happening, a lot of things that the car has to think about
20:02that I kind of feel like I have to think about,
20:04even though it kind of goes to the back of my mind a little bit.
20:07Car turning here on my right-hand side, trying to get in front of me.
20:09It definitely is quite courteous.
20:11It lets people in.
20:12It doesn't cut people off.
20:13In that situation, I probably would have let that guy in too.
20:16So, coming to a stop.
20:20It's really good at stopping, I think.
20:22A lot of...
20:24You get an Uber, and it's just a lot of herky-jerky, but this car is very smooth.
20:30A lot of drivers, you know, they just haven't figured that bit out yet,
20:33but this is doing it.
20:35We'll see if anyone tries to jam it here in front of me,
20:37because this is the only turning line to jump on the M3 South Brisbane.
20:42I'm sorry, North Brisbane.
20:45No one's jamming it in front yet.
20:46It's getting a little bit too close to the left-hand side of the road for my liking.
20:51Oh, so it's waited at this intersection.
20:52So, I notice the traffic has stopped, and it's waiting for it to move.
20:56Yeah, so now I should go.
20:57Yeah, that's pretty impressive.
21:00I mean, it's basically doing exactly what I would have done if I was driving,
21:05which I guess I technically am, but I'm not.
21:09All right, merging onto the freeway here.
21:11Let's see if we can pick a gap.
21:13This is really interesting to me.
21:15Okay, I kind of figure out it's going sort of to a slight 45-degree left.
21:19It is. It kind of needs to pick up the pace a little bit.
21:22Car behind me is getting a bit pissed.
21:24Okay, I'm just going to hurry it up a little bit here,
21:26because we are merging onto a freeway.
21:28I'm just going to let it merge, actually, here, because...
21:33Okay, so there's a truck, so this will be tough.
21:36Two trucks.
21:38One's actually moving or trying to get left.
21:42So, it's not merging, because it doesn't need to merge, but...
21:46Okay, now there's a truck right next to me.
21:48I would like it to hurry up a little bit here, but...
21:53It needs to get right.
21:56I think it's trying to let the truck go past and get right.
22:00But we'll see what happens here.
22:01I'm going to let it do its thing.
22:03It does need to get right pretty badly, though.
22:08Go behind, go behind, go behind.
22:11It needs to get right now.
22:13Okay, it's figured it out.
22:14Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go,
22:16go, go!
22:18Go, no, it hasn't figured it out.
22:25It's a bit of a me problem now.
22:30Oh, no, maybe it hasn't.
22:31I think I'm actually wrong.
22:32Wow, the computer was right.
22:34I was wrong.
22:35All right, we're going to resume.
22:38I think, or maybe it was wrong.
22:43No, I think it was wrong.
22:45It got it wrong.
22:47I was right, I think.
22:48Unless this is about to turn right, and then it got it right.
22:52No, but it has, okay, so it got it wrong.
22:55It missed the turn.
22:57I did need to be over there.
22:58I was a bit unsure, too.
23:00The computer got it wrong.
23:01I got it wrong.
23:01It has rerouted itself, and it's added barely any time.
23:04So that's really cool.
23:07Look, in that situation, I would have taken over,
23:10but I just wanted to do it for sort of argument's sake.
23:15But I would have taken over.
23:17This is an interesting one, too, because it's going to have to get right pretty aggressively.
23:26here, like fairly swiftly.
23:28It's got 200 meters to get in the right lane for a roundabout.
23:32It's got to go now.
23:34It's going.
23:36Come on, go.
23:38Faster, faster, faster.
23:39See, that's not how someone would merge.
23:41And now there's a truck.
23:45It needs to go again.
23:46Go again, go again, go again.
23:50I guess all lanes go right from here.
23:54Okay.
23:56I'm just going to trust it.
23:57Not trust it.
23:58I'm just going to let it do its thing.
23:59I still don't trust it.
24:00But I'll let it do its thing.
24:01I have more trust for this than any other ADAS system I've used.
24:12It does need to get in the right-hand lane, I think, though.
24:14Come on.
24:18All right, we're coming to a stop.
24:23See, I also wouldn't sit behind a truck.
24:27Now it's trying to get right.
24:28See, no, let's not do that.
24:31It's sitting at an intersection trying to turn right.
24:34So that's not right.
24:36No, stop trying to do that.
24:37See, I'm just going to take over.
24:39Because it knows that it needs to be in the far right-hand lane.
24:43But that's not how you merge.
24:44You don't stick your indicator at an intersection.
24:46And now the problem is, because I've done that,
24:49no one's going to want to let me in.
24:50So we'll see.
24:51The interesting thing is we have rerouted onto a route that isn't
24:57like in the pre-scheduled routing that Tesla's given us.
25:00So the skeptics out there, it's an interesting one.
25:05Okay, now I'm just going to get it in the right-hand lane here.
25:07We're going to resume if it lets me.
25:11So now we're resumed.
25:13Now it's doing its thing again.
25:16It probably would have worked that out,
25:17but I'm not really a crash test dummy.
25:19So I'm not going to try and figure that out.
25:23Anyway, this is still not on the route that Tesla has given us.
25:26It has had to redirect itself.
25:28So we'll see what it does here.
25:31Okay, it's pulled away fairly aggressively,
25:32as it should at a right-turning lane.
25:35I am just going to hurry up here because it's just...
25:38Everyone wants to squeeze through the right-turning lane.
25:40So I'm pretty inclined to just give it a little wriggle on.
25:50Trailer.
25:50Yeah, it's avoided the trailer.
25:52I think it's a truck.
26:01Weird roundabout here.
26:02I don't...
26:03Surely it can't see through that.
26:05No, it can.
26:06A little bit hesitant.
26:07I'm not sure it could really see around the corner there,
26:09but neither could you as a human, so...
26:12Okay, so it knows that it needs to get in a turning lane here, I think.
26:17Yep.
26:18Go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go, go.
26:21Okay.
26:21All right, it's done it.
26:26I still don't know how it can tell the difference between a right-turn
26:29and an arrow and a green light.
26:31It's an interesting thing.
26:33I don't know how, because on the screen in front of me,
26:36I can't tell that at all.
26:38So all these cars are parked in the lane, and it's kind of...
26:41Let's figure it out.
26:42Yeah, let's figure it out.
26:44It's stopped it to keep clear.
26:46The light has now gone green to turn.
26:47It's not creeping.
26:48Okay, now it is.
26:50It's pulling quite hard, actually.
26:52Okay.
26:53Now, this is going to be on a bit of an arterial road,
26:59indicating a couple of lanes here.
27:03It's got to figure out what lane it wants to be in.
27:06So you're turning left in a kilometer, so it can just chill.
27:11So that was an interesting one.
27:12There was a keep clear.
27:14It knew that.
27:15It stopped.
27:16The light ahead, you tend to drive into that keep clear,
27:20has figured it out, and then it's pulled through the intersection.
27:23So that was a bit of a test for it.
27:25Haven't had many of those situations yet.
27:28And it did it with really no issue at all.
27:30So that's quite impressive.
27:32So there's some interesting ones coming up now.
27:34We are in Brisbane City.
27:36I've absolutely no idea where we are.
27:37Bedford Playground Park, if you want to know what roads we're drawing through.
27:41It's going to do a left, a right, another right, and another left.
27:46So this is going to be a challenge.
27:47I feel like they've added this to the route for a reason.
27:50Who knows?
27:50I don't know.
27:51When we rejoined the route, we got detoured.
27:53We joined back.
27:54This is a bit of a funny one.
27:55Let's figure that out.
27:56So there's a bus in the left turning lane here, but it needs to get in that lane.
28:00So I don't know if it's worked that out yet.
28:02But I'm going to monitor for cars coming behind me, and we'll see what it does.
28:07This will be an interesting one.
28:08I think this is the biggest test that it's had so far.
28:11Okay, come on, get in the left lane.
28:14Oh, so actually, no.
28:15So it's smarter than I am.
28:17It knows that it doesn't have to get in the left lane.
28:18There's now a guy walking in front of me.
28:20Let's figure that out, no problem.
28:23Let's see if it creeps.
28:25I feel the brakes disengaging.
28:26It's not creeping.
28:31So left.
28:32There's people walking at the crossing ahead of me.
28:35This will go green in a second, but they're still pedestrian, so we'll see what it does.
28:42I mean, at this point, we are really testing this system out to see what it can do.
28:48I mean, realistically, I would just drive this.
28:51I think a lot of this type of technology is particularly good on freeways.
28:58Let's see how it does here.
29:04Okay, so it's figured out that there's a lane.
29:06It does need to crank a right.
29:07Okay, so it's indicated.
29:10There's no pedestrians.
29:11There's a big curb here, so let's see if it avoids the curb.
29:14It's avoided the curb.
29:17Okay.
29:18It's made the turn.
29:19It does need to stay in this lane, actually.
29:22It needs to stay in this lane, which it has.
29:23It's pretty impressive.
29:24I think we've tested this thing out quite well today.
29:29I'll be keen to test it out more in the future, but I have to say, I'm pretty darn impressed
29:35with this full self-driving supervise.
29:38So it's not really full self-driving, is it?
29:40But maybe it is.
29:43Maybe they just add that supervise bit on the end for legal reasons, but who knows?
29:47It's level two, though.
29:48It is technically level two, so yeah.
29:51Impressive stuff.
29:52I think we need to jump back out.
29:53I'll join you back at our HQ and give you my final thoughts on everything.
29:58But yeah, quite strange to not turn the wheel for a couple hours.
30:03Here we are.
30:04But that's pretty much it from me for this video.
30:06A really interesting piece of car tech that's landing in Australia.
30:10Slightly controversial, of course, but man, it really does perform.
30:14I think you'll agree.
