00:02You get all the turbo sounds.
00:11So you can see it's a pretty tough day at the office for me today.
00:13I have to choose which one of these Ferraris I want to take out.
00:17First we've got Pura-Sungway V12, not SUV, FU.
00:21It's a Ferrari utility vehicle.
00:23Look at this thing.
00:23It looks wild in person.
00:25Check that out.
00:28No, it's not a Mazda CX-3.
00:29I've heard that joke before.
00:31I wrote a whole article about the fact it's not a Mazda and I don't want to hear about it.
00:34We've got 296 GTB, so coupe, an amazing blue color with some serious interior bits.
00:42Have a look at this.
00:43First off, stripe.
00:44Beautiful wheels.
00:45This spec to me is very gentleman, but also pretty aggressive.
00:49Good play to V6 GTB.
00:51I love this contrasting stripe.
00:53And on the inside, hopefully you can see it.
00:55We've got this really nice sort of white interior.
00:59We've peeked through the engine bay there.
01:01Pretty special.
01:01But what I'm going for, it's a red Ferrari.
01:05Check the key out.
01:06GTS.
01:08Convertible.
01:09Drop top.
01:10Whatever you want to call it.
01:10And it's red.
01:11So, of course, we've got to take it out.
01:12This one, that's how you open the door, is again, gentleman's spec.
01:19So, it has a really nice interior.
01:21I wish you could smell this leather.
01:22Serious leather.
01:23And I have to show you this because this car is highly, highly spec.
01:27So, you've got the key there.
01:29Flip it over.
01:30Double tap that.
01:32Front trunk opens.
01:34Frunk.
01:36Find the latch.
01:37There it is.
01:39Find the latch.
01:40And check this.
01:42Carbon fiber.
01:44Look at this whole shell here.
01:46All the way around.
01:49It's carbon fiber.
01:51Carbon fiber.
01:52It's wild.
01:53I mean, you can't even see it while it's parked.
01:56It's just to say that you have it.
01:57And this has some options.
01:59But, yeah.
02:00This carbon sort of display here at the front, whatever you want to call it, the accent thing is just
02:04so over the top.
02:05That car doesn't have it.
02:06I was driving that car yesterday.
02:07This is mental.
02:08Today, we're here at the Bend Motorsport Park in Adelaide to do some 296 Challenge Laps, which you can probably
02:13hear riding around the track, driving around the track right now.
02:16But, I wanted to take the GTS out.
02:17Not only does it have a drop top, but it has this rear window that you can put down, which
02:21I'll show you in a second.
02:22But, what we're going to do is pretty much go for a first drive.
02:25Unfortunately, the roads around the Bend suck.
02:27But, there's a really cool little marina we can go to.
02:29So, we'll take it there.
02:30I'll give you a bit more of a walk around of the car.
02:32I'll give you first impressions on the drive out there.
02:34And on the way back, I'll give you some sounds.
02:36We'll hear some sounds of this V6.
02:37I think it sounds really good.
02:38But, more on that inside the car.
02:40So, let's jump in.
02:41Yes, I'm propping up my camera on the back of a 296 GTV as I get into my 296 GTS.
02:47Strange thing on the door, briefly.
02:49It just keeps going.
02:50It doesn't have, like, a second little latch, which is a bit weird.
02:53But, anyway.
02:54We push on.
02:56And it's always graceful getting into a Ferrari.
03:02Then, once you're inside, you get a nice 296 logo here up on the dashboard.
03:06And all of this is hidden.
03:08Like, all of these dials, there's air-con control there.
03:10Until you press the button.
03:12So, put on the brake.
03:15And everything lights up.
03:17But, what you really want to do in a 296 is drop the top.
03:19So, to do that, you go down here.
03:23And then it goes.
03:40So, done.
03:41So, you can count how long that was.
03:42It was about 20 seconds or so.
03:44It's not the world's fastest drop top.
03:46But, I've always thought the speed of convertible tops, it's fine.
03:50I've never ever thought, like, wow, I really wish my convertible top was quicker.
03:54I think the Aston DB12 did it in 14 seconds or something.
03:57The Arturo does it in 13.
03:59But, I mean, who really cares?
04:02So, I've chucked the roof back up because audio thing.
04:05It's going to suck if the roof's down.
04:06I'm running on a little lapel mic.
04:08So, one cool feature of this car that I want to show you.
04:11Over the coupe.
04:12So, it pretty much feels like a coupe right now.
04:14There's a little bit less headroom.
04:15I kind of fit in perfectly fine at six foot.
04:18In case you're wanting to buy a Ferrari tomorrow.
04:20But, this little rear window here is really cool.
04:24So, you can put that down, as I just did.
04:27And hear all the engine noise from out the back.
04:29All the turbo blow-off sounds.
04:31All that V6 goodness.
04:33This is probably the best sounding V6 I've ever heard.
04:35So, we're sitting in the driver's seat at the 296 GTS now.
04:39I'm going to show you the steering wheel.
04:40So, all of these buttons here, as I fire up the engine.
04:44All of these buttons here only show up when the car is being touched.
04:49So, when you touch things, they show up.
04:51But, other than that, they're capacitive.
04:53So, a lot of this dash display, as you'll see up here.
04:56You've got to wake it up.
04:57There we go.
04:58And it's woken up.
04:59It's a little bit annoying, I'm not going to lie.
05:01But, it is beautiful.
05:02And you do get your Apple CarPlay here in front of you, once you set that up.
05:06And then, even the passenger gets their own display with performance graphics.
05:11So, rev counter, which is pretty cool.
05:16Speed.
05:17So, you can scare them a little bit.
05:19Even the gear indicator here, which is quite cool.
05:21But, this whole dashboard, the whole layout of it to that screen is really cool.
05:27I do wish there was a center screen, though.
05:28So, the Dolce Chilindri, the new V12 Super Duper Car, has a center screen, which is kind of preferable in
05:37a car like this.
05:37Because, you just want to have your ways running here.
05:39And then, you have your beautiful Ferrari dashboard up here.
05:41But, you can't really have both.
05:43You either have CarPlay, or you have this really cool gauge cluster, which has your gears, your speed, and all
05:47that important information in front of you.
05:49But, what a place to sit.
05:50Whenever you're sitting in front of the prancing horse, and you have a manatino, you know life is going to
05:55be good.
05:55So, let's go for a drive.
05:56So, the car starts up in hybrid mode.
05:58So, the engine doesn't switch on.
06:00You basically turn it on.
06:01There is no parking brake.
06:02You just pull the shift pedal here.
06:05And then, you're in drive.
06:06And you'll see no sound at all.
06:07So, we pull away, automatic parking brake.
06:10And then, you're away.
06:11And you're driving a Ferrari.
06:13So, you can drive this thing around like a Tesla, if you really wanted to.
06:17Which is great, because it's not a quiet car, and you're not going to annoy your neighbors, which I really
06:20appreciate.
06:21And I think your neighbors would, too.
06:22So, we'll put it into performance mode.
06:26Sorry, performance, not sport mode.
06:27Performance mode.
06:28And now, the engine will stay on permanently.
06:33VIX paddles.
06:41You get all the turbo sounds.
06:47That sounds ridiculous.
06:50You can load it up in a higher gear.
06:53Stamp on it.
06:55Build a turbo boost.
06:57Land off.
06:57And it just, full blow off.
07:08Mental.
07:09So, we're just sitting on a freeway now, at about 110 kilometers an hour.
07:12National limit, pretty much.
07:14And it's so comfortable.
07:16It really is the kind of Ferrari you could drive every day.
07:19It's more comfortable than just about everything else that exists that is this fast.
07:24This is a mentally fast car.
07:26Sub three seconds, zero to 100.
07:28If you can get traction, it's rear wheel drive only.
07:30But, sub three seconds, zero to 100.
07:33It's mental health with its power down.
07:34It gives you, you plant your foot, it builds the boost.
07:37It gives you that effortless electric boost as well when you're in qualifying mode and you're in full kill.
07:44And then, it's just so comfortable.
07:46It just deals with it.
07:47Out here on the freeway, it's perfect.
07:49It's a little bit louder than the coupe and the GTB, but you get to do this sort of thing.
07:57Baby pops.
08:00It even gives you that cool downshift wastegate noise that you get from turbo cars.
08:06Just listen to it.
08:07It sounds incredible.
08:14It opens up at the top end.
08:16You get this beautiful opening sound.
08:20Right there.
08:25So, you can retract this roof at lower speeds.
08:27And, we're pulling up to the marina now.
08:29So, that's exactly what I'm going to do.
08:30Button down here.
08:32Press that.
08:34And, it starts doing it for you.
08:36Windows down.
08:38Roof opens.
08:39So, we're going 25 kilometers an hour now.
08:41You can probably do it up to speeds of 40 or even 50 like most cars.
08:46But...
08:52And, now you're top down motoring.
08:53And, that's how you want to be doing it in a Ferrari.
08:56So, I'm hoping that they've sent me the spec sheet.
08:59And, we can play a little bit of spec sheet watching.
09:03Price checking.
09:06Because, this is not a cheap vehicle.
09:08As I've probably alluded to.
09:11And, I'll tell you exactly what it costs.
09:16Once I figure out how to park the car.
09:19And, that's it.
09:20So, before we get into running through all the options that are on this car.
09:24The base price for the 296 GTS in Australia before on-road cost is $668,146.
09:32So, it's about 100 grand more expensive than the Coupe.
09:34So, the starting price is already getting way up there.
09:36And, by the time you add tax and all those sort of things.
09:39It's going to be pushing the $750,000 or $100,000 mark.
09:43And, that's before you add all of these options that I'm about to run through.
09:46Now, Ferrari has not provided the price list for this car.
09:49And, that's not something that they typically do in Australia.
09:52I know overseas that they'll give you a full rundown of how much everything costs.
09:54But, that's not really something that they do over here for us.
09:58Just know that all this carbon fibre is super duper expensive.
10:01On SF90 and a lot of those cars.
10:04There's an Assetto Fiorano package where it comes with a lot of exterior carbon fibre.
10:08And, a lot of standard options.
10:09And, it's pushing $100,000.
10:10So, this is not a cheap car.
10:13I think this car, if I was to have a guess.
10:15You're pushing basically the best part of a million bucks.
10:18As it sits here today.
10:19So, in Australia.
10:20We're going to start with the exterior.
10:22Now, that's probably the most expensive option on this car.
10:24Because, it's Rosso Imola.
10:26It's a beautiful red colour.
10:27It's a beautiful deep red.
10:29So, it's not your traditional Ferrari red.
10:31But, it's a nice deep red.
10:33Then, you've got a lot of stuff on the exterior.
10:36So, two-tone body painting.
10:38So, you've got Nero on the top.
10:40So, that top's black.
10:41Bottom's red.
10:42So, that's your two-tone.
10:43That's an option.
10:43Carbon fibre front bumper insert.
10:47Which is down here.
10:48That's the splitter.
10:49I'll show you that.
10:50It's beautiful.
10:51It's beautiful carbon fibre.
10:52That runs along both sides.
10:54It does have a nose lift.
10:55So, you don't have to worry too much about the nose.
10:57Carbon rear diffuser.
10:59Carbon side skirts.
11:01You can see that there.
11:03All of this stuff is stupidly expensive.
11:06But, you kind of got to get it, right?
11:08Carbon rear diffuser.
11:09So, you don't want to hit that on the road.
11:12That's an option.
11:13Carbon fibre dashboard insert.
11:15So, we'll jump to the interior in a second.
11:16Standard wheels.
11:17But, they're in brilliant silver matte.
11:19So, this is really nice finish on them.
11:21They look exceptional.
11:23That's an option.
11:24Black brake calipers.
11:25So, if you want black brake calipers, you've got to pay for that too.
11:28And then, pretty much, you've got the shield.
11:30So, if you ever see Ferrari shields, just know that they're also an option.
11:34Scooter rear Ferrari shields, they're pretty cool.
11:36Then, pretty much, everything else is on the interior.
11:39Except for front radar.
11:41So, the front radar is also going to be optional.
11:43And that comes with automatic cruise control.
11:45So, for distance.
11:46Not that you really need it.
11:47Because most of the time, you're out in front of the traffic.
11:48And I don't know if you can see it.
11:49But, it has its own mini splitter.
11:52Which is pretty hilarious.
11:54Let me know what you think of the colour of the car.
11:56I think it's stunning.
11:57I think I'd take a red Ferrari over pretty much any other colour.
12:00The car that is.
12:01So, the options on the inside actually start here.
12:04With this carbon door sill.
12:07Which is pretty spectacular.
12:09And then, you jump in.
12:11Which is reasonably easy to do.
12:13These Ferraris have a JBL sound system.
12:17And don't get me wrong.
12:18I think JBL makes some of the best portable Bluetooth speakers that we've ever tested at Man and Many.
12:22I don't know.
12:23It's not the most expensive stereo brand in the world.
12:25And this is kind of one of the best cars in the world.
12:28So, I've got my trusty manual here.
12:30And I'm going to run through all of the options on the interior.
12:33We'll start with the colour of these seats.
12:35Sabia interior colour.
12:37It's beautiful.
12:37It's like this creamy white colour.
12:40Maybe a little bit prone to marks.
12:42And I'm very glad that I didn't wear jeans on this trip.
12:45Carpets.
12:46We'll flick down there.
12:47These carpets.
12:48It just says non-standard.
12:49So, they're not standard carpets and they're expensive.
12:53We've got the suspension lift system.
12:54So, when the car's turned on, there's a button here and it lifts the nose up.
12:57That's not standard.
12:59Coloured special stitching in beige Chiaro.
13:02So, the coloured special stitching.
13:03It's basically, there's not a whole lot of stitching on this car.
13:07We've got coloured leather interior inserts in Sabia.
13:09So, I believe a lot of this stuff is inserted in Sabia.
13:13I couldn't tell you exactly where that is.
13:15Ventilated full electric seats.
13:17So, yeah, we like a ventilated seat.
13:18It keeps your bottom nice and cool.
13:20Carpets in Alcantara.
13:22Alcantara nearer.
13:22Then we've got coloured mats with logo.
13:24Okay, more mats.
13:25I mean, mats everywhere.
13:26A premium hi-fi system.
13:28So, that JBL system I was talking about, that's an option.
13:31Hmm.
13:31I like JBL, but I don't know.
13:33Then we've got sill kicks in carbon fibre.
13:35I've shown you those.
13:36We've got carbon fibre trunk covers.
13:38Carbon fibre steering wheel plus LEDs and a neck warmer.
13:42I like the sound of a neck warmer.
13:43I haven't actually used it because it's been bloody hot, but it's up in there.
13:46So, it'll blow warm air.
13:48On the back of your neck while the roof's down.
13:50Because you kind of want to put down the roof at any given chance.
13:55So, that's pretty much it for the Ferrari 296 GTS.

14:06It gets rid of the hybrid system, ups the power, twin turbo V6, 700 horsepower in a race car that
14:13a customer can buy for about 650,000 bucks.
