00:05After more than 190 years at the top of your game, you'll be forgiven for resting on your
00:09laurels. However, Swiss Maison Longines is doing anything but. The pioneering watchmaker is
00:15continuing to forge its own path and it's taking nearly every bit of that near 200-year heritage
00:20along for the ride. For its latest collection, Longines is dipping right back into the archive
00:25books and reviving a high precision icon. Enter the new Longines Ultracron. So we're here today to
00:32talk about the Longines Ultracron. What can you tell me about that watch? This watch was originally
00:38released in 1968, some time ago, and it was quite an innovative watch at the time. It's a high
00:44frequency dive watch, which was the first of its kind. Talk about high frequency movements, what
00:50exactly does that mean? That's referring to basically how fast the watch runs. These are
00:55mechanical watches, obviously, and they have a balance wheel that bounces back and forth. And
01:00this one oscillates at 5 hertz, which translates to 36,000 bph. And that means that this watch
01:07basically ticks 10 times per second. That's very fast. You know, you can't actually see it with the
01:12naked eye because it's imperceptible. It looks as if the seconds hand is just gliding along, but it is
01:16actually beating 10 times per second. One of the big improvements here, obviously, in terms of
01:22durability and longevity of the watch, you said you could use it for a long time. Is that leading
01:26into power reserve and things like that? That's right. Yep. So the watch has a 52 hour power reserve.
01:30It's an automatic watch, so it's self-winding. It will wind itself on your wrist, but if you do take
01:34it off, it will run for 52 hours, which is quite amazing for a high beat watch. So durability here,
01:40it's a big thing. Obviously in the original 1968, there's a lot of moving pieces here. 2022 flash forward,
01:46how durable is this piece and how long will this piece last? On the durability front,
01:50there's been massive improvements. It's just all modern materials. So this is a seriously durable
01:55watch. It's got a solid stainless steel case back, solid stainless steel case middle, sapphire crystal,
02:01sapphire bezel. This watch will outlast us. Aside from just looking good, obviously,
02:07there's a lot of things going on under the hood. What makes this watch so special and so accurate?
02:12The watch is being chronometer certified by a third party independent testing organisation,
02:17TimeLab, based in Geneva, and they test the watch fully cased up. So it's not just the movement,
02:22they're testing the watch with the dial on, with the hands on, in the case. So it's getting tested in
02:28that factory as it is, you know, when it's on your wrist. Longines always have this beautiful
02:34price point where it's approachable, but still high quality. What are we looking at for these two watches?
02:40On the steel bracelet, it's $5,600. On the leather strap, it's $5,275. So you're still coming in at
02:46that point where it is very approachable, it's very affordable, but you're getting so much out of
02:49that watch. And you're seeing that with Longines. They're kind of doing an ultra-pron here that has
02:54all of the elements, very much value for money. Are they compromising on quality here? No.
02:59Not at all. Amazing value for money, no compromise on quality.
