00:00Hey guys, we are the Brothers Green and we have a YouTube channel called Brothers Green Eats
00:04and we're here with Refinery29 giving you the ultimate little tour of Chinatown, the $2 tour.
00:10$2 tour, everything you can eat for $2. We're talking steamed buns, we're talking dumplings, noodles.
00:16I want to show you guys though how to like really navigate through Chinatown and eat your way through.
00:20Let's do this thing.
00:21Let's do it.
00:26Brum and Eldridge just try to find this place. Yeah, they have these peanut butter noodles that are supposed to
00:30be amazing.
00:31One place I haven't been to yet, so I think we just get in because I'm starving.
00:35So we got this beef tripe soup here. It's basically tripe is stomach, right?
00:40Stomach of the cow.
00:41Yeah, the lining.
00:42Stomach lining of the cow.
00:44Tripe is one of those things that's not for the faint of heart. Very chewy, a lot of flavor. It's
00:48delicious.
00:48The flavor, it's got that wonton soup flavor but with just more beef action.
00:54I'm still chewing the tripe at this point.
00:57Yeah, if you want to be adventurous.
00:57There's a point with the tripe where you're like, okay, I guess I just gotta swallow.
01:01Yeah.
01:01Like you're not gonna break it down.
01:02Spit or swallow.
01:03Spit or swallow the tripe.
01:05If you manage to make it here, it's on East Broadway and Division.
01:10Certainly they call it Under the Bridge. There's a lot of good produce.
01:12And it's definitely more into the heart of Chinatown.
01:19I love this well-cared for skewered meat. Nothing better.
01:25That's very true.
01:25We got more things to do.
01:27All right, on to the nut one.
01:28I love this cracker thing, too.
01:29How much for one?
01:30Who gets bagels in Chinatown?
01:32Two for one?
01:3320 cent?
01:34Are you ripping me off?
01:35Yeah.
01:36You are?
01:36Oh!
01:38So this is my version of getting like a 20-course meal.
01:42You have to walk a little bit for it.
01:43Do some exploring.
01:44And you're taking in the culture. You're taking in new flavors, new experiences. It's all part of the fun.
01:49Some cheap throwaway.
01:50If you have $10, you could probably eat for the week.
01:53You could feed an office.
01:54You could feed a whole office.
01:58All right, so the next stop.
01:59Right next door.
02:01Fried dumplings.
02:02Fried dumplings, $1.
02:03For hot and sour soup, $1.
02:05Everything on the menu is basically under $1.
02:08I've never seen anything quite like this.
02:10What are they?
02:10It's like this fried pork bun thing.
02:13But it's not like your steam bun or your regular fried bun.
02:16When you walk into a hole in the wall in Chinatown, there's not many places to eat.
02:21So you just sit anywhere.
02:22There's a park right next door.
02:24You got the one crispy side, so you get the crisp.
02:26It's a potsticker.
02:27You fry it on the one side, steam it all the way through.
02:30When you go to Chinatown, it's a little bit overwhelming at first.
02:33But just pick a street.
02:34Go to, say, Mott Street.
02:35Start on Canal and just work your way down.
02:38And just pop into a spot.
02:40That one looks good.
02:41That one looks good.
02:42Breathe.
02:43Stay calm.
02:44It's going to be okay.
02:45It's going to be delicious.
02:46It's going to be all right.
02:47It's important when you're going to Chinatown that you're pacing yourself.
02:50And we are overpaced.
02:54Two very famous things in Chinatown that we usually will get elsewhere, but they're
02:59still good at bakeries.
03:00You've got your steamed bun.
03:03Check this thing out.
03:04It looks like nothing, but you break in and you get all kinds of stuff in there.
03:07They usually like the steam roasted pork.
03:09There's a surprise in there.
03:10This one is more of a sort of pork and cabbage one, actually.
03:14Could give it a switch up.
03:15I've never had anything like that.
03:17Look at the layers and the crispiness on that.
03:30We had an awesome day filming in Chinatown.
03:33Two dollars and below.
03:35So glorious.
03:35I can barely breathe.
03:36I can barely breathe.

04:10Alright, let's see.
04:11wrote a note.
