00:00Usually when I hear the term daddy issues,
00:02it's from someone being super judgy
00:04over how a woman is dressed.
00:05She has her titties all out,
00:07but she probably has abandonment issues.
00:10Hey, maybe she does.
00:11Or maybe she just wants to show off her cool ass boobs.
00:14I mean, I have a daddy issue right now.
00:16My dad lives in the apartment above my apartment,
00:19so he's like my neighbor, but he's my dad.
00:22So he's super invested in everything I do.
00:25Specifically, how I throw out my trash.
00:27You know, kid, I looked outside
00:29and I saw the trash cans, right?
00:31You gotta separate it, kid.
00:32I'll put it in the bag.
00:33I'm gonna take it out.
00:34I'm probably gonna take it out Thursday
00:35or maybe 10 p.m.
00:36or maybe 10 or 5 p.m.
00:37I might walk downstairs.
00:38You know, I should be a garbage man.
00:42Or one of our trash can lids went missing,
00:44and I heard about that for like four weeks.
00:47And then they took the lid.
00:48They took the, somebody took the lid,
00:50the lid to the trash can, they took it.
00:52And I really hope the neighbors stop with the dog poop.
00:55I'm gonna follow them.
00:56I'm gonna follow them next time.
00:58I'm gonna grab the dog poop kit.
00:59I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna take it to the house.
01:01I'm gonna say, this is your trash.
01:03Daddy garbage issues is what I got.
01:05So I wanted to get deeper into these daddy issues
01:07we all have.
01:08So I decided to invite a psychologist and a cool friend.
01:12I'm here with Naomi and Dr. Nilu,
01:15and we're gonna be talking about daddy issues.
01:18So when you hear the term daddy issues being used,
01:21what do you guys think of?
01:22I, when I hear the term daddy issues,
01:24I think it's always used to describe acting out for attention,
01:30but specifically male attention.
01:32It's important to remember that men also have daddy issues,
01:35not just women.
01:36You know, as a strong black woman,
01:38I have what is known in medical terms as a Jew boo.
01:41That's a Jewish boo.
01:42Now, am I dealing with an issue there?
01:45Because obviously my daddy wasn't a petite white man.
01:47And yet, that is who I've taken into my heart.
01:50What am I doing?
01:51What am I doing, doctor?
01:52Sorry, what's the question?
01:54I don't know.
01:55Lay back, relax.
01:58Oh God, yeah.
01:59So maybe you chose someone who's like the opposite of your dad
02:02because you were afraid that...
02:04That checks out.
02:06Yeah.
02:06That checks out.
02:07You know, Jew boo's are very stable.
02:09Yeah.
02:09I'm sure you've read that in your literature.
02:11Very stable, stable people.
02:13Sometimes, not always.
02:15That's a generalization.
02:16I don't know.
02:17I'm spitballing here.
02:19Those thoughts don't just come out of nowhere.
02:22They're based on your self-image.
02:24They're based on your worldviews and your core beliefs.
02:28I love me some CBT.
02:30Yeah, good.
02:31It's good stuff.
02:31Trying to handle my business, you know?
02:33It's good stuff.
02:34Both my mom and my dad were really cool.
02:36And one memory that I have is like, I cried once.
02:39I came home from school once crying.
02:41And my dad was like, what's wrong?
02:43And I told him that this guy that I liked, like my best friend.
02:47And I just remember him being like, don't worry.
02:50You're going to meet a great guy someday and he's going to be special for you.
02:53And he just gave me this pep talk that was so amazing.
02:56And I even remembered it in my 20s and been like, oh yeah, I always remember that.
03:01That's so awesome.
03:02That's so sweet.
03:03Yeah.
03:03That's great.
03:04That makes me want to drink.
03:05Here on Report Card, we like to grade our topics.
03:07So today we're going to be grading using the label, Daddy Issues.
03:12Who's your daddy?
03:15What we have is our own grading system.
03:18A is, I love it when you call me Big Papa.
03:21B is, say his name, say his name.
03:23C is, I'm a Freudian scholar.
03:26D is, you're grounded.
03:27And F is, go fuck your mom.
03:37One, two, three, bam.
03:41Oh, wow.
03:42We don't like it.
03:43We both said you're grounded and you said, what did you say?
03:47Go fuck your mama.
03:49Wow.
03:51All right.
03:51Thanks for being here.
03:52I hope you guys have fun.
03:53Thank you for having me.
03:54I had a lot of fun.
03:55And you know what?
03:56Good luck with all those dads out there.
