00:00I think I'm going to fall asleep in this.
00:02No way.
00:03This feels like it's going to be relaxing.
00:05Oh yeah, I forgot.
00:06No naps.
00:08Hey guys, it's Mi-Anne, and this is Beauty With Me.
00:11Today, I got a facial at the gym.
00:14Sort of.
00:15I went to Face Gym.
00:16It's a spa that has made very, very intense facial massage.
00:21It's bread and butter.
00:23I've been hearing about Face Gym for quite some time now,
00:25so when the brand reached out to us to give us the exclusive to film the brand's new Skin IV
00:31Machine,
00:31which is an add-on to any of Face Gym's original facials,
00:34I jumped on the opportunity to try it out, and we filmed it for your viewing pleasure.
00:40Before we show you, please make sure you are subscribed down below.
00:44Beauty With Me comes out every Monday at 11 a.m.
00:47Face Gym isn't your typical spa.
00:48In fact, its founder, Inga Theron, would describe it more as a place that you go to work out your
00:53face
00:53Instead of having, you know, your typical private rooms,
00:57there are four chairs lined up where their trainers, so their facialists, will do their work on your face.
01:03Hey guys, I'm here with Inga Theron.
01:05She is the founder of Face Gym, and I am going to get my first workout today.
01:09I am very excited because I've heard a lot of very good things about this.
01:13I've been dying to know how Face Gym came about.
01:16I've done a ton of different facials, but I have never done one like this before.
01:19I realized that muscle manipulation wasn't being done effectively enough.
01:25People were still doing facials, and product on, product off, just doesn't give you that long-term efficacy
01:30that I think you can actually get when you work and manipulate the muscles.
01:35And so I was like, there's got to be a different way.
01:37Why don't I take a training approach, which I'm doing with my body, and apply that to beauty.
01:41And that's when I started working with a plethora of experts to try and create a protocol
01:47that actually stimulates the forgotten, what we call forgotten 40 muscles in the face.
01:52At Theron's suggestion, I went for the game face treatment, which, like most workouts, starts with a slow warm-up.
02:00My facialist, Elle, started with stretching my neck, cleansing my skin, giving me a gentle facial massage,
02:05before whipping out a little red yoga ball that she used to stretch, relieve tension on my face, open up
02:11my sinuses, the whole shebang.
02:12So how's your skin feeling today?
02:14Um, actually my skin feels pretty good. I'm just prone to congestion.
02:18Okay, we use our training serum. Since you say you're prone to breakouts, I'm going to be using our clear
02:24skin.
02:24Then after applying the serum to my face, Elle whipped out the big guns, and that was a radio frequency
02:29machine.
02:30Now radio frequency is a type of energy that encourages cell turnover and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin
02:36by heating up the layers of the skin.
02:38This is actually a device I've never used before, so I was a little bit worried that it would burn.
02:44It actually didn't at all. It felt really good. It had this rotating knob on it that felt like a
02:49little massage.
02:49There were sections of my face where it was a little bit uncomfortable, but overall it was a really pleasurable
02:54experience.
02:55Then it was time for the cardio portion, which was essentially a very intense, super, like, whipping fast facial massage
03:04that stimulates circulation, brings blood to the surface of the skin, and improves texture.
03:08Elle's hands, like, work so quickly, like, gliding past your skin.
03:14It looks like it would hurt, but it actually felt really good.
03:17It felt like it's just a really fast, strained facial massage. It helps drain lymph. It helps improve circulation.
03:23I generally really, really liked it.
03:26Then it was time to sculpt my face, and not gonna lie, this was the portion that was actually the
03:31most uncomfortable.
03:32Imagine a masseuse working out not on your back, but doing that on your face.
03:38The pressure was pretty firm, but afterward I really do think I could see a slight difference in the contours
03:45of my face and just overall lifting.
03:52Once the cardio workout was done, Elle moved on to another device. It's a microcurrent device.
03:58The microcurrent device basically uses electricity to stimulate muscles and cause them to tighten.
04:04I could actually feel my lips and my eyelid, like, twitching as the device glided over those areas.
04:11Finally, we got to the main event, which was the new Skin IV machine.
04:16Inspired by the vitamin drips and intravenous fluid that people get when they're just feeling kind of bland,
04:22Inga was inspired by that kind of technology and wanted to create something for the face that had similar boosting
04:27effects without a needle.
04:28It's essentially a customizable form of hydrogen evasion, which uses water, oxygen, and special serums to exfoliate and help with
04:36dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
04:38After spraying the detox water on my skin as the first step, which contains silver oxide, which is antibacterial hyaluronic
04:44acid,
04:44which is hydrating an aloe vera juice that's very soothing, she moved on to a serum.
04:49Elle decided to use two different serums on my face, the Clear Skin Cocktail and the Glow Shot.
04:53Both serums combined to fight acne with a mix of acids and vitamin B5 to hydrate and tone the skin.
05:00The best way to describe this treatment is prickly.
05:04It's not painful, but you're definitely aware that there's a spray going, like, 200 miles per hour on your skin.
05:09It doesn't hurt, but you definitely feel a little bit of that sensation.
05:12After my skin was sufficiently sprayed, Elle moved on to some facial guassa and finished off with some products
05:18just to keep my skin nice and hydrated and protected after I left the studio.
05:22I've got to admit that before I went to Face Gym, I did have a little too much wine the
05:28night before,
05:28so my skin was definitely feeling puffy.
05:31After I got the facial, I could definitely see a difference in just the general contours of my face.
05:36It was kind of cool to see that, like, slight effect without makeup.
05:39In truth, though, I think I might be a little bit too young to see drastic results from Face Gym.
05:44Their treatments ranged from $70 for the Signature Facial to $275 for the Game Face, which is what I got.
05:51I think that to really see marked results, you'd have to go back multiple times.
05:56Actually, Inga recommends six times.
05:58For me, though, I think this is something that I would do before a big event,
06:00or if I'm just feeling, like, just gross, congested, and puffy,
06:04because it really does help with lymphatic drainage and helps reduce inflammation.
06:08For those of you who don't have a Face Gym near you or simply just don't want to spend the
06:13cash on it,
06:13I'd recommend doing some facial massage at home.
06:15You can do it just with your fingers as you put on your moisturizer or when you do an oil
06:19cleanse,
06:19or you can spring for a facial massage tool.
06:22I just got this new facial gua sa tool.
06:24I got this one at Herbivore Botanicals.
06:26You can use it to give yourself a little facial massage in the evening or in the morning when you're
06:30just applying your product.
06:31It's good to get a little bit of a deeper massage than you can get with your fingers, but honestly,
06:36I highly recommend both.
06:37Okay, that is it.
06:38Thank you guys so much for watching.
06:39I really enjoyed making this video.
