00:00I have this album that I'm putting together centered around this concept of this evil
00:05clone version of me versus the actual me.
00:09It is a bit stressful, but I did want to fully transform into this character I've created
00:15in my head.
00:16You should go hard or go home.
00:18Hi I'm Bruceyboy and today I'm getting flame tone hair.
00:22I grew up in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina.
00:26Moving around a lot probably lent me to not really be put in a box.
00:32Like I was always adapting and kind of wanted to look different because I felt different.
00:39Growing up my mom only determined my hairstyle.
00:42I looked ridiculous dude.
00:43I had like this short of bangs.
00:46Since then my hairstyle has changed two times a year.
00:49I have this industry showcase coming up and I want to show the people watching me Bruceyboy.
00:56I am Sam Labella and I am an international artist for Aloxi.
01:00I specialize in bold color placement, editorial color, vivid fashion colors.
01:08I am a traveling international artist so I work all over the United States.
01:15Hi Brucey, I'm Sam.
01:16Hi Sam.
01:16I'm so excited.
01:17So what are we wanting today?
01:19We want some tritone red bleach tips.
01:24Sort of like a flame effect?
01:25Yeah.
01:26The inspiration today was actually a drawing that Brucey sent to me before I even met him.
01:32I thought this was so cool because I see a lot of photographs as inspo but never a hand drawing.
01:40Today what I'm doing on Brucey is giving him a flame tricolor melt.
01:46The most important aspect of going to a vivid color is getting the hair light enough in order to achieve
01:51maximum brightness.
01:52And if their hair is previously colored, it makes it very difficult to lighten out of that artificial pigment.
01:59The first step in coloring was the dark base and the pre-lightening for the flame melt.
02:05My lightener used here is ultra lightener and 30 volume.
02:10I utilized tones, Aloxi's demi-permanent color line in 3N or level 3 natural and just a couple of chips
02:21of 1N or 1 natural.
02:25Our first step was to paint the sides and the back using my tones mixture in the deep dark brown.
02:32Tones, which is our demi line, it's awesome.
02:34The longevity is killer.
02:36It has crystallized micro pigments, so that dark base is going to hang out longer than a lot of other
02:42brands.
02:43Next, I went through the top of the head and the crown, melting our tones, dark brown, into my ultra
02:53lightener mix.
02:56And every slice was foiled.
02:59I used our ultra lightener, which lifts up to 9 levels safely.
03:04It's not chemical smelling, it has a beautiful and even lift, and it doesn't trash the hair, which is a
03:11bonus.
03:16Once we reached a level 9, I rinsed the color and lightener, shampooed the lightener out of the hair, and
03:24finished with Color Lock, Aloxi's post-color finisher.
03:31After we rinsed out our Color Lock, I brought Brucie back to the chair, and we dried his hair, prepping
03:39it for our flame melt.
03:41After he was dry, we went back to the color bar and grabbed Aloxi's Ultra Hot in red and a
03:47bowl of Aloxi's Ultra Hot in yellow.
03:51There's two kinds of people that do hair color.
03:54There are hairdressers that do color, and then there's like mad scientists who want to intermix and tweak until they
04:01find like that perfect color that's in their brain.
04:05That like fluorescent highlighter yellow, as opposed to like a lemon yellow.
04:09Now it's time to paint our melt.
04:13Sectioning out our pre-lightened pieces, I painted through each section red, melted into yellow, freehand.
04:25My mom was in the beauty industry as a sales rep, so I grew up in the industry.
04:31I was able to take my first color class at 11 years old, and have really just never let it
04:38go since then.
04:40I did this throughout all of our pre-lightened sections, and allowed it to process for 15 minutes.
04:50Next, it's back to the bowl to rinse it out.
04:54It's important here to rinse our vivid colors in cold water.
05:02After rinsing out the melt, I finished with Aloxi's Color Lock.
05:06Now it's back to the chair for a trim, and a blow-dry style.
05:15It's time to see Brucie's reaction and the final reveal.
05:19Okay, I think we are done.
05:23What do you think?
05:24What do you think?
05:24Ah!
05:26Whoa, dude.
05:28It's crazy, dude.
05:29Are these the colors you imagined?
05:31Hell yeah.
05:32Good.
05:33Yeah, that's it.
05:36I'm sorry, I just don't even recognize myself.
05:39I'm like, who's this cool guy?
05:41Who's this guy?
05:43Yeah.
05:44Cool.
05:45My mom's gonna be so pissed.
05:47Ha!
05:57This is exactly what I imagined in my drawing.
06:00Even better, honestly.
06:01I know nothing about, like, hair color and stuff, so I don't think I really had a gauge for,
06:09like, the exact colors.
06:11I just knew I wanted red and yellow.
06:14But she literally, like, picked out the most ideal shades of red and yellow, so it's, like,
06:20better than the drawing, almost.
06:22Sam definitely created the alter ego look that I was going for.
06:28Brucie was super excited.
06:30I think it's exactly what he was picturing when he described his ideal flame melt.
06:38I'm honestly kind of looking forward to seeing how people look at me when I walk on the street.
06:44Like, I want people to run away from me.
06:48I think that would be ideal.
06:50More so than turn their head.
06:52Turn, they will turn their head and then they'll run.
06:55And that's what I think will happen.
06:57The way that you look is a direct expression of yourself and your art.
07:03I feel like people actually walk differently when they're in a hairstyle that fits them.
07:09Alright, so we're gonna FaceTime my mom because I think this is gonna be priceless.
07:17Oh, my God.
07:22Holy .
07:25Yep.
07:27Oh, wow.
07:29Are you proud of your son?
07:31Oh, God.
07:34Oh, Lord have mercy.
07:36My heart is racing.
07:37Yep.
07:38It's going back.
07:40Mommy's little angel, right?
07:42Yeah.
07:42But they did an amazing job.
07:46Also, you're on camera.
07:48Hi.
07:51Hello.
07:53Thank you, Sam, for the hairdo.
07:56I'm in love with it.
07:57Gonna do great at the show with it now.
07:59Gonna look sick in my EP shoot.
08:03Do you think this look will turn heads?
08:05Do I think this look will turn heads?
