00:08And obviously, Deshaun Watson, you've got Dylan Gabriel, and of course, Shador Sanders.
00:15So Shador Sanders was asked the question if he was ever in a quarterback battle.
00:20And Shador Sanders answered it this way.

00:27Well, let's put this out there.
00:28Well, last time I checked, when you were at Jackson State, your dad was the head football coach.
00:34The last I checked, when you went to Colorado, your dad was the head football coach.
00:41When have you ever fought for anything?
00:43And now you're in a quarterback battle to try to win a starting quarterback job in Cleveland.
00:50Personally, I think this is the first time that Shador Sanders in his life has had to actually earn a
00:56starting position.
00:57And this is something that will benefit him if he is the guy.
01:01Because remember, the one thing here about an NFL football team, the NFL is looking for starting quarterbacks.
01:09And if he's good enough, congratulations.
01:11You earned yourself a starting job.
01:14Remember, let's go back to the draft of a year ago.
01:17Everyone was saying that Shador Sanders was a first-round draft choice.
01:21Well, you know, the NFL has a way of telling people who you really are.
01:25Kid, we think you're a fifth-round draft choice.
01:28And this is who you are until otherwise proven.
01:32You know, when you look at Tom Brady, the 199th pick in the National Football League draft,
01:37when he came out, NFL told you, hey, Brady, this is what the NFL looks at you as.
01:44A sixth-round, 199th pick until proven otherwise.
01:49Name the quarterbacks.
01:50Joe Montana, third-round draft choice out of Notre Dame.
01:53You're a third-round quarterback until otherwise proven.
01:57You haven't proven anything yet.
01:59Now, I get it's Cleveland.
02:00That's one of those destinations you go to die when you're a starting quarterback.
02:05They're in New York with the Jets.
02:07And I understand it.
02:09Shador was ranked 35 out of 35 for veteran quarterbacks based on a poll of executives and coaches.
02:18The NFL is telling you exactly who he is.
02:21Right now, he is a journeyman-type quarterback.
02:24I don't see anything special about Shador Sanders except for the fact that he played for his dad.
02:32To me, it looks like Shador James, like Bronny James here.
02:39Fathers that are so great get opportunities to give their kids chances to become professional athletes.

02:47I've had this question asked me before.
02:49So, if you were able to get your kid on a professional sports team, would you do it?

02:57But, again, you've got to walk down the yellow brick road yourself, dude.
03:01Doors are swung wide open when you're Deion Sanders and when you're LeBron James.

03:08And you have to earn these quarterback starting spots.
03:12Look, it's the most coveted job in American sports today is being a starting quarterback in pro football.

03:22There's no other job in American sports.
03:25Nobody knows.
03:26A bigger job than being a starting quarterback.
03:30No matter if it's Cleveland or no matter if it's in New York.
03:34And Shador Sanders has an opportunity here.
03:36Now, I hope he takes and grabs a hold of it and becomes a starting quarterback.

03:49But here, this will be the first time that he's ever had to earn a job.

03:56He was one game over .500, was blown out in a bowl game, and had his jersey retired.
04:04And Darian Hagan, who was the guy who won the national championship, had to wait until this last offseason to
04:11go into the Buffalo's Ring of Honor because it didn't want to make it look so obnoxious when Sanders went

04:18Sanders was a good football player in college.
04:21A great one?
04:22Absolutely not.
04:23Now he gets the opportunity, and I would say right now, because your last name is Sanders.
04:29Let's face it.
04:30If his name was Shador Brown, would he be given the opportunity to play with the Cleveland Browns?
04:39Most likely not.
04:40And Dylan Gabriel would be given that opportunity more so.
04:43And Dylan Gabriel was actually drafted ahead of him and a better prospect coming out of college than what Shador
04:50Sanders is.
04:51He's a media-made person, and everyone in the media wants the kid to win.
04:57I hear all the time that people are saying, Sills, you're too hard on the kid.
05:00No.
05:02There's 53 chairs in an NFL locker room.
05:06It's the most competitive place I've ever been in my entire life.
05:10Nobody cares who your dad is.
05:12Nobody cares where you played.
05:13Nobody cares about your journey.
05:16Those 53 chairs are earned, not given.
05:20And it's one of the hardest things to do is win a spot on an NFL roster.
05:26There's a reason there's only been 29,000 men ever to play in this game with 16,000 men alive
05:33that have ever played in the National Football League.
05:36You have to earn these positions.
05:38Let's go, let's go ahead.
