Michaela Coel has said she did not expect so many people to identify with her Bafta-winning series I May Destroy You.

00:06expecting to win for leading actress so I'm feeling still a bit stunned and so

00:17grateful to BAFTA. I think I wasn't expecting it I wasn't expecting so many

00:23people to identify with the show, with the characters, I wasn't expecting people to

00:32feel like I had represented them and that they saw the show as a mirror unto

00:38themselves and that there isn't really a word for that feeling. It really helped

00:43me get past some troubling stuff and what it enabled me to do is sort

00:52of pair something quite tragic with something quite beautiful and that was

00:58being able to make a show and create opportunities and see everybody's

01:03talents come together to create it. It kind of helped, it kind of replaced bad

01:10memories with really nice ones.
