00:00The World Health Organization has warned that the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo

00:11WHO Director General Tedros Aranom Ghebreyesus says the outbreak is far from being under control,
00:18with more than 5,000 cases and over 2,320 deaths recorded.
00:25Tedros warned that the virus is spreading at an unprecedented speed,
00:30with the location of many deaths suggesting that unidentified chains of transmission remain.
00:35He said an updated recommendation to the government of DRC and other countries at risk
00:40will be issued in the coming days.
00:42The outbreak is the DRC's 17th and is now its deadliest,
00:47surpassing the 2,299 deaths recorded during the 2018-2020 outbreak.
00:52There is currently no vaccine or approved treatment for the Bundabugio species behind the outbreak.
