02:59cleveland and then they still have games against the white sox who who are leading the division so
03:05it's still there it just gets a lot tougher i actually love i'm starting to love and starting
03:10to really embrace your the way that your attitude is on this team for the rest of the season
03:16and that is just kind of hey this is like extended spring training go ahead and give younger guys a
03:20chance to to show what they can do and it's the beginning of when you sell the deadline and you
03:26have a young core and and as much as they do have a young core i do look at it
03:30as it's the it's it's
03:33the beginning of spring training 2027 is get at bats get reps in the meantime you know they've
03:39they've accidentally crawled back into this playoff chase and it's awesome um and i'm i'm not you know
03:45i still think there's a hail mary hope out there for this team and i think there's a logical reason
03:50why it could work and we'll get to that coming up but um but mostly i'm processing what i'm seeing

04:25these names are going to be making up most of the starting nine they'll be making up half the
04:30rotation like they've they've completely flushed and restocked and it's pretty damn promising
04:38but you know it's one thing to be to be i mean they're still a below 500 baseball they are
04:44and and
04:45so it's yeah oh cool he looks like a major leaguer but are they going to help him win at
04:49a higher rate
04:50and that's that's ultimately the sort of the next step that this young core has to take has to prove
04:55so another reason why i've enjoyed the roller coaster that is this season is there are little
04:59tricks that i've done where i this is why i can enjoy every single game the rest of the way

05:04there's what you've said with you know getting a head start on things uh i think there's a golden
05:09opportunity at some point when if if internally they like all right well now we know we're out of it
05:15that they can do things like hey i'm gonna let colt keith hit against lefties or i'm gonna let
05:22valencia hit against righties and and and see okay gonna test your metal they got 15 games up in the
05:27season or whatever it's going to be at that point let's see how you do in those situations so that
05:32we
05:32can better count on it for for next year or at least let's let's get a starting point so not
05:36yet but
05:37at some point at some point you can get to there right the other thing that i started looking at
05:41last night is because it's kind of it's wild when you look at the wild card situation here
05:48and you know the tigers are with all these other teams right there are only three teams that are out
05:53of it in the american league the athletics the angels and the royals everyone else is like within
06:00two and a half games of that wild card spot so the other trick i'm telling myself now is if
06:05they're
06:05going to lose then go ahead and keep losing because you're going to find yourself with potentially
06:11potentially a top 10 pick in the draft and i don't love that that's that's more of a loser's
06:17mentality but it's a little trick that's in the back of my mind that okay i gotta find something
06:22some kind of silver lining if if if they don't if they fail to make the playoffs baseball draft picks
06:27really excite you that much they have lately really yeah i think i think there's way more attention
06:33that's being paid to them now um from a fan standpoint i think from a media standpoint they're paying
06:40more attention is is there's more uh resources to go ahead and do that but no i mean it's not

06:45football it's and i don't think it'll ever be like football but yeah i have to say that i i

06:57playing and and you you do you like is it to the extent where you're thinking about baseball prospects

07:24the draft because that's the draft that matters the least in football basketball hockey you can make
07:28the argument like hey i don't want to just get in because we're going to get smoked i'd rather have
07:32a chance at a good lottery pick for baseball i don't care at all like at all about draft make

07:39playoffs just get in for me you know baseball because you have two different it's like two
07:43drafts in one it's like okay i've got the draft in the high school kids i got the college kids
07:47and
07:48high school kids that's a real lottery ticket you don't know what you're going to have until four
07:51years down the road college draft pick you feel a little bit better about that there's more of a track
07:56record and understand this too that trick that i'll play if i have to play that is a very small

08:47don't the thing that was undermining them when they had a stronger roster still undermining them
08:52and it's the bullpen yeah and and it was another example of it was an example in two of the

08:56games against the white socks it's an example in this series with pittsburgh yesterday being
09:01a very obvious example of it and and yet so that's still around that hasn't gotten better

09:14the only thing like if they fade from this deal that i would say well at least i think we'll
