00:01Hello once again everyone, this is the K2R2, otherwise known as the K2 Retro Second, and I am back here
00:06with another review video.
00:09Now, this is my third review video on the channel in general, and this is my second game review.
00:15And the game I picked today I'm going to be reviewing is the Super Bomberman Collection for modern platforms and
00:21PC.
00:24So, let's get started with this review right away.
00:27Okay, and here we go.
00:30So, what is Super Bomberman Collection, you may be asking.
00:34Well, what is it?
00:35So, Super Bomberman Collection is a game, like I said, that came out from modern platforms, which are the Nintendo
00:41Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series XS.
00:47But it also came out on PC as well.
00:49And these versions were all shadow dropped on the same day as Nintendo's Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, where they announced
00:59this game and release it.
01:02And, wow.
01:03I did not expect this game to even be released on the same day as the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase.
01:11That is freaking awesome, in my opinion.
01:14And I'm actually glad, you know, we got this.
01:19Right?
01:19I'm actually glad we got this, and I'm grateful that Konami, you know, gave us this collection.

01:28So, this was published by Konami and I think developed by Red Art Games.
01:33I could be wrong, but...
01:35So, Super Bomberman Collection is a collection of five Super Bomberman games, which are Super Bomberman, Super Bomberman 2, Super
01:45Bomberman 3, Super Bomberman 4, and Super Bomberman 5.
01:48Now, as of the latest update, they also included Super Bomberman Panic Bomber W, which is a puzzle game that
01:55never came out outside of Japan until now.
01:59But, there's also two bonus games as well, which are Bomberman and Bomberman 2 on the NES.
02:07So, that's actually eight games.
02:11Wow.
02:13Okay.
02:14I mean, not bad.
02:18Not a bad deal.
02:20$20 for eight games.
02:22Alright.
02:22Not bad.

02:24But, um...
02:26Alright.
02:27So, let's start the review, shall we?
02:30So, of course I'm going to start off with the menus.
02:35Now, upon booting up Super Bomberman Collection, I definitely like the title screen and the title screen music.
02:41I really wish somebody could extend that and upload it to YouTube so I can download it on my phone.
02:47But, that's not the main point, right?
02:50The point is the menus.
02:52And the features here.
02:53So, the menu is wonderful.
02:56I definitely like the game selection screen.
02:59Like I said, you get to select through any of these games.
03:04And the bonus games.
03:08So, the game selection is definitely great.
03:11You know, you actually have the characters on the left side.
03:14You have the logos.
03:16In high resolution.
03:18It's awesome.
03:19And you have a preview of the game on the bottom right.
03:22Which is the game you're about to play.
03:24Which is pretty cool.
03:26Pretty cool.
03:27And it also has the battle mode highlights.
03:30Now, this highlights what is available in the battle mode.
03:36So, for example, Super Bomberman has the classic battles with these power-ups.
03:40Of course, the battle mode highlights in Bomberman 2.
03:45Have the golden bomber, which is pretty interesting.
03:49The little kangaroo-looking creatures in Bomberman 3.
03:54And you have mounts and throws in Super Bomberman 4.
03:57And the maniac mode in Super Bomberman 5.
03:59So, and not only that.
04:02In the battle mode highlights with Panic Bomber W, you have skull mode.
04:06And you got some skull items.
04:07Which, you know, you got these pretty insane-looking items that could turn the tide of a puzzle battle.
04:16So, yeah, you know, pretty interesting stuff to learn.
04:23Now, what I also definitely like is this unbox feature here.
04:29So, what you can do is take a look at the box art from different regions.
04:34So, you can see this is the USA version of Super Bomberman.
04:37But, we have the Japanese version.
04:41And we got the European version.
04:45Isn't that awesome?
04:47But, you can also unbox.
04:50And you can see a 3D render of the cartridge.
04:53Which is pretty interesting.
04:54And the instruction manual.
04:56And you get to read through the manual.
04:58Now, this reminds me a little bit of the Sonic Mega Collection Plus.
05:02Where in that collection, there's a feature where you can read instruction manuals of the games.
05:09Now, I thought that was pretty awesome to do.
05:12You know, if you want to take a break from playing the games, right?
05:15So, of course, you can read the instruction manuals right here.
05:20You know how to play the game.
05:21What the controls are.
05:22What the items are.
05:23Stuff like that.
05:23So, I mean, pretty good stuff.
05:25Pretty good stuff.
05:26But, yeah.
05:29But, you also have your options, too.
05:31So, you have your language.
05:35You have your region.
05:36So, you can actually change regions in this game.
05:38But, keep in mind, it says here, save data differs between Japan and USA and Europe.
05:44So, you know, I'm not really going to change the region on mine.
05:48I've done it before.
05:50But, I mean, nothing too different other than the language.
05:54But, hey, that's okay, I guess.
05:57But, yeah.
05:59Yeah.
06:01So, that's it for the menus.
06:03How about the emulation?
06:05Now, keep in mind, this is all emulation here.
06:08This is all emulated in ROMs.
06:10You get the idea.
06:12Right?
06:13And, I will definitely say for certain that the emulation is splendid.
06:20The emulation is freaking gorgeous.
06:24The games play amazing.
06:27They play like the original releases.
06:31And, the emulation is really spot on.
06:35The emulation is really spot on.
06:38So, definitely plays pretty well.
06:41I had no input lag issues.
06:43None of that stuff when playing the game.
06:46So, yeah.
06:48That's pretty cool.
06:51But, what about the English translation?
06:54So, keep in mind, these three games here are already in English.
07:01But, you may be asking, what about 4, 5, and Panic Bomber W?
07:05Well, those games are also English translated as well.
07:10So, despite them never being released outside of Japan, they actually have this English version here.
07:20So, this English version tells you that there is an English version of this game.
07:26And, that you can play this in English.
07:29Obviously.
07:32But, how do they get this in English?
07:34You may be asking.
07:35Well, it's obvious that through the power of ROM hacking.
07:39Now, there are English translation ROM hacks of Super Bowerman 4 and 5 that are out there on the internet.
07:45But, I really think the Red Art Games versions of these English translations do it justice, really.
07:50You know, because these are new English translations.
07:54And, you know, these were done professionally.
07:58So, yeah.
08:00Yeah.
08:01Pretty good.
08:02Pretty good translations.
08:03So, you got Super Bowerman 4, 5, and Panic Bomber W, which have the English translated versions.
08:10So, yeah.
08:12I genuinely believe that these are some good English translations.
08:21Yeah.
08:22But, let's get on to the Super Bonus.
08:24So, what is included in Super Bonus right here?
08:27So, of course, you have Bombermans 1 and 2 on the NES.
08:32And, they also run off emulator and ROM.
08:34So, yeah.
08:36I definitely think the emulation on these two games are spot-on, too.
08:40In fact, actually, when you're picking a game.
08:43And, I'm going to pick an example.
08:44I'm going to pick Panic Bomber W.
08:47But, um.
08:49When we go to a game.
08:53And, you can see that I'm going to the game.
08:55You get a nice little border, right?
08:57And, I actually.
08:58And, you can actually pick the border that you want.
09:00So, I'm going to go to the pause menu here.
09:06And, one of the cool things is that you get to remap the controls.
09:10And, as for me.
09:11I made the controls more like the Super Nintendo controls.

09:17You get the idea.
09:19But, um.
09:20You also have the display options.
09:24So, you can pick what display option you want.
09:28So, for example.
09:31I want to change the frames.
09:33And, you have about seven options.
09:36You got your blank ones.
09:37You got Super Bomb Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
09:41And, you got Panic Bomber W.
09:43So, you also have a CRT filter.
09:46Which, if you like the CRT filter.
09:50Well, go ahead and knock yourself out and pick that one.
09:53But, um.
09:56Next up is the aspect ratio.
09:58Which, you can pick.
10:00I picked the native ratio.
10:01Because, I think it's a lot better.
10:05But, there's also input overlay.
10:07If you want to toggle that one.
10:08I choose to have it on.
10:10You know.
10:11Because, that's how I personally like it.
10:12Just in case.
10:13If I can't memorize how to get to the menus or whatever.

10:17Sometimes I have bad memory issues.
10:19So, pretty good.
10:20Pretty good.
10:21Alright.
10:21So, let's go back to the menu.
10:23I'm going to hit change game.
10:25Oh, yeah.
10:25Not to mention this game also has save states too.
10:27Which is pretty incredible.
10:29So, yeah.
10:30Pretty cool stuff.
10:31When it comes to the emulation.
10:32Pretty spot on and stuff like that.
10:34It also has a rewind feature.
10:37Which is pretty awesome.
10:40So, I guess if you're stuck on a certain part.
10:43Use the rewind feature.
10:46Alright.
10:48So, let's talk about the other extras.
10:52So, of course we have a gallery here.
10:56Which, if you want to look at some pictures.

11:05You also have some art for the other games.
11:08Which are pretty interesting.
11:12Wait.
11:13Why no art for Panic Bomber W?
11:15Eh.
11:15Whatever.
11:16Doesn't bother me.
11:17Because I don't really look at the gallery anyway.
11:19But, there's also Bomb Radio.
11:23Which you can listen to the music.
11:26From all the available games.
11:30Well, except for Bomberman's 1 and 2 on the NES.
11:33But, you get it.
11:35But, yeah.
11:37Pretty good music player here.
11:40If you want to kill some time and listen to some music.
11:42Go for it.
11:46But, yeah.
11:47Pretty interesting.
11:49Now, I did say some of the positives.
11:52But, I will admit there also are some.
11:55I guess you could say a nitpick that I had with this collection.
12:01And, I don't know if you want to say it's a minor or a major nitpick.
12:05But, I did have a nitpick with this collection.
12:10And, this is something that has bothered me for, I guess, a while.
12:15And, I guess I can let it out.
12:17Is that there's no online multiplayer.
12:21Or, at least there's no true online multiplayer.
12:23So, why I say this is because, from what I saw, there's a substitute for online multiplayer.
12:33Which, if you're on the Steam version, of course there's the remote play thing.
12:38Right?
12:39Of course, there's that.
12:41But, not only that.
12:45There's a Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game.
12:48Which is, well, the Nintendo Switch 2 edition.
12:52But, this Nintendo Switch 2 edition has a feature that is exclusive to that version.
12:58Which is the game share.
12:59A feature that is found on the Nintendo Switch 2.
13:03And, not the original Nintendo Switch.
13:06So, and, of course, game share is one of the main highlights of the Nintendo Switch 2.
13:12You know, aside from all the other features that Nintendo was talking about with the Nintendo Switch 2.
13:18But, yeah.
13:20I mean, I really don't think it's really that fair to have the Nintendo Switch 2 version have game share.
13:28Which is a form of online multiplayer, by the way.
13:31But, yet, the Nintendo Switch 1 doesn't have it.
13:33I mean, I really think that they could have had a true online multiplayer for this game.
13:41Similar to how games like Capcom Fighting Collection or Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection have online multiplayer in it.
13:48So, I really think this collection could have had online multiplayer.
13:53Because, you know, there are people that want to play the battle mode online in any of these games, right?
14:01Because, these games, all of them here have battle modes.
14:05Save for the first Bomberman on the NES.
14:10Right?
14:10So, I really think a true online multiplayer could have been warranted here.
14:17So, I do not know exactly why they did not put online multiplayer in this game.
14:24And why, you know, they'd have to rely on you using Game Share or, like, Steam Remote Play Feature or
14:31something.
14:31But, yeah, that's just one of my nitpicks.
14:35Is that there's no true online multiplayer for any of these games.
14:39I really wish there was.
14:41I really wish there was.
14:43You know, because I want to play with friends.
14:45You know, I want to battle with my friends.
14:48So, I don't want to rely on certain features of a console or the PC to do it.
14:57You know, I want to be able to enjoy this game.
15:00Now, of course, with the PC version, of course, you can use Steam's Remote Play.
15:04But, not only that, you can use Parsec.
15:10So, yeah.
15:11There's that.
15:15But, yes.
15:17Despite the nitpicks, I definitely think Super Bomberman Collection is a win.
15:21It's a pretty good collection of Bomberman games.
15:24And, I think it's definitely worth a try.
15:27If this is your first time playing Bomberman.
15:31Or, you know, if this is not your first time playing Bomberman.
15:35But, yeah.
15:36Pretty good collection.
15:38Pretty good game.
15:39Is it perfect?
15:40No.
15:42But, I think it's definitely a fun collection to enjoy and experience with your friends.
15:47Or by yourself.
15:49Or whatever you want to do.
15:50I don't know.

15:51But, yeah.
15:53Pretty good stuff.
15:55So, that's going to about do it for this review.
15:59I don't really have a final verdict on this game.
16:02Because, I'm not Angry Joe.
16:03But, I'm pretty sure if Angry Joe were to review this game, he'd probably give people a final verdict on
16:09this.
16:09But, it's whatever.
16:12But, yeah.
