00:00Hi there, it's certainly been a summer dominated by low rainfall but also high pressure and high temperatures.
00:06This weekend high pressure returns but it's time without the high temperatures and that's because
00:12around the periphery of the high over the last couple of days we've had northerly winds bringing air all the
00:17way from the Arctic
00:17and we've got the legacy of that sticking around overnight and into the start of the weekend.
00:23A cool and some might call it chilly night to come with further showers at first but as you can
00:29see
00:29the showers largely fade away inland overnight. Just a few remaining around coastal parts of western England,
00:36West Wales, some parts of northern, Northern Ireland, northwest Scotland, one or two for the east coast.
00:41Inland clear spells and temperatures falling widely. 11 or 12 in the south, 8 to 11 further north and in
00:48some sheltered spots
00:49a few degrees lower than that so low to mid single figures in some of the colder spots as we
00:56start off Saturday.
00:58A dry start to the weekend for many but there will be some showers around on Saturday and this gives
01:04you the
01:04idea of the variable amounts of rain we're expecting to come in the form of showers on Saturday itself.
01:10Northwest Scotland, Northern Ireland seeing a few showers. Some of these central parts of England to North Wales
01:16as well as Cornwall but for many others actually it's dry on Saturday and it's dry again on Sunday as
01:21that high pressure
01:22moves in. So the showers fewer, further between, less lively as well but still a few about. North Wales,
01:30northwest England through the Cheshire Gap, one or two of the Pennines. Northwest Scotland, Northern Ireland
01:34more reliably seeing showers coming through one after the other especially near coasts and Cornwall.
01:40So sticky out bits essentially. Inland we've got clear spells, sunshine forming once again and despite the sunshine,
01:48despite pressure building from the west, we've got the legacy of that cool air in place. So widely below average
01:54once again, temperatures similar to Friday, mid to high teens in the north, low 20s possible in the south
02:00given enough sunshine out of the breeze but certainly a stark contrast compared with so much of the heat
02:06we've experienced through summer so far especially across England and Wales. A few more showers for one or two in
02:12England and Wales overnight but more frequent showers arriving into the north and west of Scotland,
02:18the north of Northern Ireland on a brisk westerly breeze. Lighter winds elsewhere at a chilly start to
02:25Sunday. Again temperatures fairly widely away from main urban centres in the south, single figures and in some
02:31sheltered spots, low single figures. But we start off Sunday with largely dry and clear weather, long spells of
02:39sunshine for England, Wales. Eastern Scotland seeing some bright weather but turns cloudier through
02:43Scotland and Northern Ireland for much of the afternoon. A few light showers here and there.
02:49Most places settled and dry but again not especially warm. Temperatures a degree or so higher compared
02:55with Saturday up to 22, 23 Celsius in the south and it turns a little warmer again on Monday and
03:02Tuesday
03:02but that's only as a low pressure system approaches from the west and that means the high that we've got
03:09this
03:09weekend for once is temporary. It's not going to last. We're going to see low pressure dominate the
03:15weather from the middle of next week bringing a return to much more widespread spells of rain.
03:20Much more as always on our YouTube channel. Bye bye.
