00:00Big Ten has three teams in the top 10, four teams in the top 15, and by my math, what
00:07is that, eight teams in the top 25?
00:10Yes, I believe so.
00:13Okay.
00:13Yeah, eight teams.
00:15Eight teams in the top 25.
00:17Out of all those Big Ten teams still, is there anybody you think that is a little overrated, overranked, or
00:23maybe underranked?
00:24Oh, goodness gracious.
00:27If I had to switch it up, I would probably move USC up a little bit.
00:32I've been hearing a lot of noise from that incoming freshman class.
00:35They've got a lot of great players.
00:37Jane Mayaba apparently is making big-time steps.
00:39They've got more weapons.
00:40They've got a lot of people on that defensive and offensive line that have been taking humongous steps and getting
00:45better.
00:46So I'd have USC move a couple up.
00:50Goodness gracious.
00:51I enjoy this poll.
00:53For the most part, I wouldn't change around too much.
00:55Maybe a couple teams here and there, but I feel like everyone was rated somewhat decently.
01:00Yeah, I don't necessarily hate it.
01:02I mean, Indiana, feel bad.
01:04They're getting shafted at six.
01:05And ironically with this, like in the AP and the coaches poll, Hives did the most first place votes.
01:13Indiana had the second most, and they were ranked six because either people thought they were the best in the
01:17defending champs, or they probably thought they were 10th or 12th.
01:20But this one, Ohio State the most with 40.
01:24Oregon second with 14, who was second overall, but Indiana still more than Notre Dame and still more than Miami
01:30with six and one, respectively.
01:33Indiana garnering eight.
01:35One of the most interesting facts about this, this is the first time, and I want to say since 2015,
01:43that there was an SEC, there wasn't an SEC team with a singular first place vote, which is a crazy
01:51anomaly.
01:52And I'm guessing that 2015 team was the Ohio State returning champs.
01:56And I don't know if they got all of them, but they probably got almost all of them.
02:00And then someone else, maybe Texas, because they were in the Big 12 then.
02:05Oklahoma was in the Big 12.
02:07Maybe someone from the West Coast or, you know, an ACC squad.
02:12I don't know who that would have been, would have gobbled those up.
02:14That's the only reason I'm thinking that.
02:16It's the first year in a long time still, as we've talked about the demise of the SEC.
02:22That's just another little piece of anecdotal evidence of what popular perception looks like.
02:27And it makes no sense to me, because if you look at that one through seven, if you could pull
02:31it up, Pat, if you look at one through seven, there's not a lot of disparity for me.
02:35If you have any of them ranked at number one, have them win the national championship.
02:38By all means, I'm not going to say anything negative about you.
02:41But the fact that the only two SEC teams within that top seven don't have any first place votes, I
02:47don't know if there's some kind of coup going on within the AP poll voters.
02:51But it makes no sense to me, because both of them, if they won a national championship, I wouldn't really
02:56be shrugging my shoulders.
02:58It makes sense.
02:58They're both very talented.
02:59A lot of returning guys coming back.
03:01A lot of production.
03:02So I don't know what the motivation is behind that.
03:05Maybe that's some way of saying, hey, let's motivate the SEC to finally go out and overcome this three-year
03:13skid that the Big Ten has over us.
03:15But they should have first place votes.
03:17I didn't have either of them winning it.
03:18I didn't have either of them in my first place.
03:20But they should have a couple votes.
03:22And it kind of scares me that they don't.
03:24Maybe that's just a little bit of extra motivation for them.
03:26All right.
03:27So heading all the way back to 1988, I believe, John Cooper's first year or second year.
03:35Ohio State has been ranked in the AP preseason top 25.
03:4038 straight years, the longest running streak.
03:43And that is active and current.
03:46Doing a great job.
03:47Speaks to really the consistency of the program over what it has been.
03:52You know, from Coop to Trest to Urban to ultimately.
03:59Even when Fick was here, they were still ranked.
04:01And then even now under Ryan Day, as he enters his eighth season.
04:05So very, very impressive from that standpoint.
04:08Something that might not be as good.
04:09It's the Ohio State.
04:11What have they won?
04:12Eight or nine national titles, if you count 70.
04:15Do you know how many of those times that they were ranked preseason number one?
04:20I'd probably say zero.
04:23I believe that is correct.
04:26Ohio State has been ranked in the number one eight times.
04:35You know how many times they've won it?
04:37Zero.
04:38So right one this year.
04:40How does that make you feel, Steele?
04:42I hate it.
04:43I see Troy here talking about it.
04:45Rat poison.
04:45That's exactly what it is.
04:46Because it's a preseason.
04:48No one's actually put the football down and played 11-on-11 football.
04:52And everyone already thinks we're going to win it.
04:54Which, that's a tough place to be.
04:55I enjoy chasing rather than being chased.
04:58But knowing Coach Day, he's going to spin it a little bit.
05:01He's going to say, everyone thinks that we're the best team in the country.
05:03So let's go out there and prove it.
05:05But you see it in the media.
05:06Pat McAfee was calling him up saying, hey, you don't need to come into practice today.
05:10You guys got it.
05:12We're hearing all that stuff already.
05:14And I hate hearing it.
05:15And I know that the culture around the Woody isn't really paying attention to that.
05:20But you just, I don't enjoy being number one.
05:24If you could put us at number two or number three, by all means, do so.
05:27Because that means we have a little spits on the chase.
05:29But if there is a team that can handle this kind of pressure, where you're number one,
05:34you got to stay number one throughout the next five months.
05:36I feel like it is Ohio State.
05:38Just because they've been there.
05:39They've dealt with that.
05:40They haven't won a national championship after being put at that spot.
05:43But if there is a team to do it, I feel like it could be them.
