Jabalpur: The threads of Raksha Bandhan are pulling lakhs of people back home this festive season, and Indian Railways is racing to keep pace. In Jabalpur, the festive rush has led to growing waiting lists on several key routes. Raksha Bandhan is among the busiest festive travel periods. The West Central Railway (WCR) announced 47 special train services across five routes. The first service starts on August 22, while the last is scheduled to run on August 31. Madhur Verma, Chief Public Relations Officer, WCR, said, "Like every year, we are expecting heavy passenger rush during Raksha Bandhan this time as well. And that is evident from the waiting lists on some trains. Therefore, the WCR has planned special services on routes where we usually see a higher number of passengers." "There are five such routes: Rewa-Bhopal, Jabalpur-Delhi, Kota-Nizamuddin, Sogariya-Mathura and Sogariya-Jabalpur. A total of 47 special services have been planned across these five routes," Verma said. "We are expecting around 1,500 to 2,000 passengers to travel on each train. Overall, these special services are expected to cater to approximately 70,000 to 1,00,000 passengers. The first service is planned from August 22, while the last train is scheduled for August 31, with different frequencies on different routes," he said. The additional trains aim to provide a convenient and much-needed option for those travelling back home to celebrate the festival with their loved ones.
