00:00Good evening and welcome to a new episode of your show, What's Happening?
00:05Today is Sunday, 23.8, 2026, 23.9, 2026.10.
00:11Rabbi Alawal, wishing everyone safe.
00:15Because in Algeria, unfortunately, during the past few hours,
00:20large fires have broken out again in the country of Algeria.
00:24Unfortunately, these fires have caused a lot of damage.
00:30Many forests, specifically in Canchella province.
00:34I wish we could have done a proper report in Canchella province, Algeria,
00:38and more specifically in the forests of Hamam al-Salihaime in Canchella province, Algeria as well.
00:45You can actually see the damage there on your screen.
00:49And it seems that firefighting and civil defense teams in Algeria
00:53are still fighting the fires at this very moment, right there in Canchella province, Algeria.
01:00And certainly, the reason, and most likely, the main cause of these fires
01:06is the extremely high temperatures.
01:12As we mentioned earlier, it's the El Niño phenomenon or Super El Niño.
01:18The El Niño phenomenon or Super El Niño.
01:21It didn't just cause these big fires again in Algeria,
01:26but there were even bigger and bigger and bigger fires.
01:29Honestly, it hit Indonesia after the devastating earthquake.
01:34Do you know Indonesia?
01:35About a week ago, it experienced a devastating earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7
01:41on the Richter scale in the Flores Sea or on Flores Island,
01:45and it caused a lot of destruction.
01:48But Indonesia wasn't even recovering from this devastating earthquake before it was attacked.
01:56Massive fires started in many places like Borneo Island, Sumatra Island, West Papua, and Java.
02:04Huge fires began hitting those areas.
02:07You'll start to see that you are boycotting.
02:11And specifically from the Indonesian city of Lombok,
02:15these fires are in the center of Lombok City.
02:19They are historic fires in every sense of the word,
02:22witnessed in the heart of this city,
02:25as well as in the forests of Kalimantan in Indonesia.
02:31And I can tell you Indonesia is being hit
02:34because the Pacific is currently experiencing this super-El Nino phenomenon.
02:41And it is experiencing very high temperatures,
02:45and these high temperatures are affecting the various countries there,
02:48including Indonesia.
02:51And because of this significant rise in temperature,
02:54unfortunately, it caused these massive fires.
02:58These massive fires that are still sweeping through Indonesia,
03:02unfortunately, have caused air pollution.
03:06It caused the closure of dozens, if not hundreds,
03:11of schools in Indonesia,
03:13and even the smoke from the fires there reached Malaysia specifically.
03:18Dozens of schools were also closed in Malaysia,
03:23specifically in the Malaysian state of Sarawak.
03:27And because of the sheer magnitude of these fires,
03:30there is now a state of emergency in Indonesia,
03:34and also in Malaysia,
03:36in the state of Sarawak.
03:38Just imagine,
03:4048,000 personnel from civil defense and firefighting
03:46have been deployed in a serious effort
03:48and in an attempt by the Indonesian authorities
03:52to contain a disaster of this scale.
03:57very large fires in Indonesia,
03:59which I think are happening for the first time.
04:02And the reason is always the same.
04:03And what we have warned about many times
04:05is that, unfortunately,
04:07the giant El Nino phenomenon,
04:09or the super El Nino,
04:10that was everything.
04:11This is Amin al-Daram with you.
04:12Repeat the introduction.
04:14I don't know what's happening.
04:15Block.
04:15Block.
04:16Block.
