Kazakhstan’s new ruling party projected to win Sunday elections

Kazakhstan's new ruling Adilet party has taken a decisive lead in early exit polls, with more than 70% of the vote in the country's early elections for its unicameral parliament which could give it roughly 105 of the 145 seats in the new legislative chamber.

00:00Following the adoption of a new constitution, Kazakhstan held its first election for a new unicameral parliament, the Kurultai.

01:41But the significance of the election goes beyond domestic politics.
01:44The election comes as Kazakhstan takes a bigger role in Central Asia, pushing it straight, transport and the middle corridor
01:51between Asia and Europe.
01:53For Kazakhstan, this vote is also a test for its political reforms and growing economic and geopolitical ambitions.
