Today’s featured work, [The Edge], was created based on the core theories of the master of existential philosophy, Karl Jaspers: Limit Situations (Grenzsituationen) and Existence (Existenz). Jaspers argued that while humans usually live buried in the comfort of daily life, they realize their true Existence only when they confront limit situations—such as death, suffering, struggle, and unavoidable fate. This project visualizes the resilience of a subject who awakens amidst such an existential crisis.
The line "Strike through the dark, I am awake!" in the lyrics sings of the vivid realization gained through the limit situation. Furthermore, the final declaration, "I don't break, I leap," demonstrates the dignity of a designer who treats the storm not as a disaster that destroys her, but as a tool that refines her into her purest existence.
