00:00I thought I would have him in like three days. I had no idea it would turn into 71 days.
00:05I was in
00:05a Walmart parking lot one day. I thought I saw a little dog's head pop up. What was it about
00:10him
00:10that made you really feel inclined to like rescue him? Like I've got to help this dog. I found out
00:15he had been out there for at least a year or two and from that day forward that's where the
00:21hunt
00:21started and I knew I had to rescue him. Every time he would see me he would look like he'd
00:26seen a
00:26ghost and he would run off. That's when I knew this dog is fearful of people and the only way
00:31we're going to get him is to trap him. I've been rescuing since 2014. I've fostered and rehabilitated
00:37around 45 dogs. I've just never trapped a dog before. I thought I would have him in three days.
00:43He went into that. The gate hit his little booty and he backed right out and so I knew we
00:49had to do
00:49something bigger and better and that's when someone came forward and offered me the misty trap.
00:54So on day 18 he went into the trap and I had five trail cameras on him so I was
01:00always watching
01:01everywhere he was and I was like oh my gosh he's going in he's going in he's going in he's
01:05in the
01:05back and then the magnet released the gate. It makes a little click. He heard that magnet and he got
01:12out
01:12of there faster than you can even imagine and I was like oh my gosh oh my gosh. He was
01:18outsmarting me
01:19left and right. So it started to become a challenge and it was a challenge that I was like I'm
01:25not
01:25going to give up. And so after that I started conditioning him for over 40 days which means
01:31I didn't set the trap and I was going back morning and night putting brand new food out
01:36I'll try to get him comfortable to go in.
01:52On day 70 he fully went in to the trap and he was eating chicken and something in my heart
01:59told me
02:00tonight's night. So I finally set the trap for the first time. I went home I set my alarm for
02:08every
02:0830 minutes because I didn't want to take the chance of falling asleep. I think it was like 5.03
02:15a.m.
02:15He went in and oh my gosh I bolted out of here. Hey guys it's Jasmine. It's 6 a.m.
02:22on Good Friday and look who I just got.
02:29A month or so in I decided that his final home would be here with me and the girls. If
02:35Wally could
02:36understand everything that you've done for him what do you think he'd say? He would say mom I'm sorry I
02:41made you wait that long because I would have had this home and this life way long ago.
