00:00It is a very complex layered role because members of the hive mind don't really have the typical luxury of
00:06like being able to mirror or naturally react to a scene partner's emotions.
00:11Do you like my books?
00:12Oh, we love your books.
00:14What do you love about them?
00:16Everything.
00:17Your books are an expression of you and we love you.
00:21What was that like upbeat love and adoration like for you to play while you're sitting across from a very
00:27upset carol?
00:28There was a little bit of a challenge to it.
00:30I think that is something that I in my wheelhouse I can play pretty well is warmth and love.
00:36And so it's good that I didn't have to just like constantly play, I don't know, some emotion that is
00:44more difficult for me to access.
00:46Just having Alice in there because I would be like, wait, so am I like, do I feel this or
00:52whatever?
00:52And she was like, you have all of the things, but you still have this imperative and this, you know,
00:59need to change her.
01:01But you do love her.
01:02You do love her work.
01:03I thought that was very, very helpful.
01:05But, you know, it was complicated.
01:07As Carol presses about Helen, you can feel like the hive's wheels turning as they're thinking more carefully about the
01:13responses.
01:13How did you approach just building the tension that comes from not being able to lie?
01:18Even though I was playing a part of the hive mind, there was still this idea that there is still
01:23some humanity in them and that like they know that this will hurt her and they do not want to
01:28hurt her.
01:29And so I found that to be like a really good anchor of trying to redirect the conversation and not
01:36give you too much.
01:38It felt a little politician-y, it felt a little bit like we're going to go in this direction.
