01:43She's basically a citizen of nowhere right now
01:47Which I knew would be the case
01:49And that's totally fine, she can actually stay in Thailand
01:53Without getting citizenship or passport or anything
01:56Until she's 14, I think it could even be 15
02:01But she doesn't need a visa, citizenship, nothing
02:04But the problem is, she can't leave
02:07Obviously we don't want her to be stuck here in Thailand
02:11And actually, because of our visas, we're switching over visas
02:16In about 4 months
02:17And in order to do that, me and Mandy both have to leave the country
02:21Which obviously means, Lila has to come with us
02:24Which means she needs a passport
02:26Honestly, I thought, would just mean applying for a passport
02:31Showing my citizenship for Australia or Mandy's for Canada
02:34And that would get her a passport
02:35But it turns out, Lila needs her own certificate of citizenship
02:41To either Australia or Canada
02:43So we're going with Australia
02:44And so in order to do that, she needed
02:47I've basically got to print off a bunch of forms
02:51I've got a photo taken of her, a passport photo
02:53Which was interesting
02:54Like we went to get the forms printed off
02:56And a passport photo taken
02:58And they kind of just looked at us like
03:00There's no way we can't take a photo of your 2 week old baby
03:03They just had a stool
03:05And a piece of paper behind it
03:06So we took the photo ourselves at home
03:08And it actually turned out pretty good

03:18Or I guess it's a citizenship photo for Australia
03:21It's not even for her passport
03:23But the guy at the shop at the mall didn't want to do it

03:37It's impossible to get her to focus on anything

04:21And I'm gonna go in

05:07That my daughter was born here
05:08A couple of weeks ago
05:09And I need a doctor or a nurse
05:11To sign a form
05:12To verify her identification for a passport
05:15So for the form that I need to submit
05:17To get her citizenship certificate
05:19It basically has to be either
05:21An Australian citizen
05:22Who isn't related to her
05:24Which
05:24Can't be done
05:26Or
05:27A citizen
05:28In the country where we're residing
05:30Who works in a specific profession
05:32And nurse or doctor is one of those professions
05:35So it seems like a logical thing to do
05:37I'm gonna see how we go
05:49One of the best things about this hospital
05:50Is the free shuttle
05:51That they give you
05:52From the car park
05:53To the entrance
05:54It's pretty sick
05:55It's only like 200 metres
05:56But it's cool

05:58I'm done at the doctor

06:21It's Friday today

06:25She's going to sign them for us

06:27And then I'll get it all

10:06Alright, it's Sunday morning.
10:07We've just made it to The Standard,
10:10which is a hotel here in Hwaian.
10:13It's probably, I think, our favourite day club to hang out at
10:16just because it's really chill.
10:18They've got good music, heaps of trees
10:21and it's on the beach
10:22and they've got really good food.
10:24It is 800 baht per person for the day
10:28to hang out all day
10:29and that goes towards food and drinks
10:31which is why we like it so much.
10:33There's always kids here.
10:35It's pet-friendly.
10:37Although I don't think we'd ever bring Bear here
10:39because he would destroy the pool.
10:43I saw they have pool towels over there.
10:46Oh, pet towels over there.
10:47Imagine just letting Bear run loose into the pool.
10:51We brought Lila for her first beach club day.
10:56She already pooed.
11:02Pretty impressed.
11:03I didn't think we'd be doing this...
11:05She's not even three weeks old yet.
11:08I thought we'd have to wait a little longer

11:13But yeah, we're just going to chill out here
11:14for the whole day, I think.

11:39with Lila.
11:40We're at the Chiketa Markets
11:42which is probably the best night markets in Hua Hin.
11:47They've got so much good food.
11:49We'll see how this goes.
11:50Hopefully she doesn't crack it.
11:52We're here pretty early.

12:44i'm really keen to eat a lot of protein here there's so many different meats to eat

14:13okay we actually had some success we just went back to the hospital
14:17uh and got a meeting with the doctor the ob-gyn who was looking after us the whole pregnancy
14:25and she signed all the paperwork for us we had to bring lila in and uh she was really good
14:32actually she signed everything for us and verified um her identification and the photo and everything
14:39so that's all good and i've just submitted the application to get her uh citizenship certificate
14:48and i actually rang the department of home affairs i think they called
14:53and they uh were really helpful too which was kind of surprising because sometimes these government
14:58agencies like centrelink they're not much help but they were actually really good
15:04and i explained the situation they were really understanding and uh they couldn't give me any
15:09guarantees on like how long the process would take but we gave them all the information
15:14on like when our visas expire and we need to leave thailand and they said they're going to
15:21push it through hopefully as soon as possible um as a matter of urgency so yeah that's where we're at
15:28we basically have four months from now to get her a passport before we leave otherwise i don't know
15:34what we're going to do we don't really have much of a backup plan there hopefully it all gets sorted

15:39mean four months should be enough time but you know how these things were the only other plan i can
15:45think of is maybe we could speak with thai immigration and maybe that would give us some grace
15:52due to the circumstances and an extreme option would be for me and mandy to leave one at a time

16:00other one stay home with the baby but i don't really think we're gonna do that because i can't see

16:08leaving lila even for like 48 hours and i don't particularly want her to anyway so i don't know now

16:16just gotta wait and see um hopefully we can get this pushed through quick enough and keep you guys
16:21updated but i'm on to another problem now uh literally like for the last five days or whatever
16:30it's been absolutely pissing down rain it is absolutely flooded here in kwahen this morning and
16:39man the universe is hilarious because just a couple days ago this window here
16:46decided it wasn't going to roll up uh but it hasn't rained in like two weeks so i was like
16:51yesterday i was going to get it done but it was sunday i was like you know what i need
16:56a day off
16:57so mandy and i went to our favorite day club just standing and now this morning i wake up to
17:06torrential rain it's looking like it's going to be raining all day
17:11and i'm soaked just before it started raining i had this issue with our window
17:18the driver's side door it won't roll up all the way for whatever reason
17:28i tried to uh fix it myself but there's something mechanical in there it's not
17:34not working so i am gonna drive to the mechanic just around the corner from our house
17:40and see if they can do it i think it should be a pretty quick fix luckily
17:44it's not expensive to get stuff fixed here in thailand um but this is probably just
17:50honestly part of buying an old car so i'm gonna get it fixed today because it looks like the rain's
17:56stopped for a few days so i'm gonna get this sorted before it starts raining again because i've been
18:02getting drenched even driving around in the car it has rained so much the last four or five days
18:08like the roads have been flooded we'll see how we go
18:11the car uh you do repair what repair
18:35all right i guess the mechanic isn't in today so he said come back monday
18:43that's all i guess hopefully it doesn't rain the next couple days
