00:14Yeah, we had a chat before training yesterday and he said, well, it's great.
00:19We want to be the best professionals in this environment and we want to give the next generation the best

00:27And do you think the penny has dropped for players? Were you looking around that room going, right, everyone kind
00:31of gets what he's saying?
00:33Yeah, 100%. Look, Rudy's been around the England dressing room for plenty of years now.
00:38He knows what it takes to be the top professional and I think we've just got to do the best
00:43we can moving forward.
00:45Josh, how would you sum up the difference in approach between Ben and Joe in terms of the captaincy?
00:51Pretty simple, pretty chilled. It's nice having Rootie at mid-off and it was obviously very good having Stokes there
00:57at mid-off as well.
00:59We keep the plans very simple. That's how I like to bowl, really. I don't want too many things going
01:04through my head.
01:05And I think that's where you play your best cricket as well.
01:12Josh, just your own position from like eight or so months ago when you were in New Zealand, kind of
01:18training in parallel to a white ball squad but not active, hoping to get a look in in the ashes,
01:23to where you are now involved in all England teams, your success in the 100. How has that been for
01:31you?
01:32It's been crazy, really. I've always wanted to play all three formats for England.
01:38Obviously, I ticked off the test stuff and started very well but I still want to get better in my
01:42test stuff.
01:44And then obviously making my debut this year in the T20s and the 50 over and to win both of
01:50those series as well is quite special.
01:53And obviously winning the 100 here, it only seems like yesterday really. I was here at Lords winning with Manchester.
01:59But yeah, I feel in a really good place at the minute.
02:01Does it affect how you, even how you feel in yourself as you stand at the end of your run
02:06-up, the knowledge of the success you've had over the last few months?
02:12Yeah, it gives me a lot of confidence leading to any game that I play, if that's for England or
02:17for Nottingham as well.
02:19And I want to try and make an impact in teams and put the team in the best position as
02:25I can to win games of cricket.
02:27And just on that conversation you had as a squad with Joe, that clarity that he seems to have brought
02:36in that conversation,
02:37has that not been there in the time you've previously been with the squad?
02:40Was there uncertainty about what the ground rules were?
02:43I think we've just got to make sure we're as professional as we can.
02:47Obviously, things that have happened, we need to try and move on for them and show all the youngsters growing
02:54up wanting to play for England that it's an amazing place to be.
03:00Hi Josh, it's kind of off the back of Simon's question about your form.
03:04You were involved in that Wellington night out pre-Ashes and since then you've been flying really from the Ashes
03:10right through to now.
03:12What changed or did anything change from that point in terms of, I suppose, your focus and your drive, professionalism
03:18even?
03:19I just tried to move on from that situation really and focus on the cricket.
03:24It's an absolute privilege to play for England and especially walking out and thousands of people watching you.
03:30And like I said, I want to put in as many performances as I can for England and win as
03:35many games for England as well.
03:41Joe said yesterday when he spoke to us that he was really hacked off about the ride and car situation.
03:46Did he seem pretty angry when he spoke to you guys yesterday?
03:49He said it straight, yeah.
03:50It was a very good conversation.
03:53Made it clear what he expects from us.
03:56Playing for England, obviously, it's a privilege to play for England and we've got to make sure we're the best
04:01professionals we can.
04:01And did he speak about kind of creating a new culture or was having like a cultural reset?
04:08Yeah, obviously, like I said again, it's a privilege to play for England and we've got to be as professional
04:14as we can.
04:23Josh, I just wondered, having won the 100, how you pulled up physically this week after last week and how
04:29different it was playing test cricket again?
04:31Yeah, it's obviously a big change, changing formats, obviously going from bowling 20 balls in the 100 to potentially getting
04:39through 40, 45 overs in a test match.
04:42I think it was quite nice only bowling 16 overs in the test as well.
04:45But my body was absolutely fine leading into the test match and I made sure during the 100, I made
04:51sure I got my overs in at training.
04:54And yeah, and just recovering really well.
04:56And Root is obviously one of England's best slip fielders with him now captain and at mid-off, he's out
05:02of the slips.
05:03Is the change to the cordon something that you as a fast bowler think about?
05:07Not particularly, no.
05:08Obviously, Ducky's gone into first slip.
05:10He was at third slip anyway when Rootie was there.
05:14They obviously train really hard on their slip catching and I've got full confidence in all of them.
05:18And lastly, just on the pitch, of course, it played pretty hard against New Zealand.
05:23I wondered if you'd had a look at it.
