00:06Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're looking at finales that made dozens, or sometimes hundreds, of hours feel completely worthwhile.
00:13They don't necessarily have to be happy endings. Instead, we're looking for emotional catharsis, long-awaited victories, brilliant final revelations,
00:21and those rare conclusions where the gameplay, characters, and story all come together perfectly.
00:26As you might expect, there are spoilers ahead.
00:35Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to
00:41get notified about our latest videos.
00:44The Killing Joke – Batman Arkham City
00:46After facing the likes of Hugo Strange, Ra's al Ghul, Protocol 10, and an entire prison city full of supervillains,
00:53the finale comes down to Batman, Joker, and the cure for the Titan infection slowly killing them both.
01:04Batman obtains an antidote and, despite everything Joker has done, fully intends to share it.
01:10Unfortunately, Joker attacks him anyway, accidentally smashing the vial and losing his last chance at survival.
01:15The Dark Knight delivers the perfect final blow without throwing a single punch.
01:19He tells Joker that despite all the murders, torture, and chaos, he still would have saved him.
01:24And the Joker dies laughing.
01:25Even after everything you've done, I would have saved you.
01:36Batman silently carries Joker's body out of Arkham City, mirroring the likes of Cain and Abel.
01:41He places his greatest enemy on the hood of a police car and walks away without saying a word.
01:50It's haunting, strangely intimate, and a perfect conclusion to one of gaming's greatest hero-villain relationships.
01:56The Joker remains eternal, but this is about as perfect an ending for the Clown Prince of Crime as we
02:01could ever dream up.
02:02Breaking the Golden Rule – The Forgotten City
02:04You're trapped in an ancient Roman settlement governed by the Golden Rule.
02:08If one person commits a sin, everyone dies.
02:11All I have to do is commit a sin and the day will begin again.
02:16Watch this.
02:17I'm going to kill you now.
02:19Time loop after time loop reveals that trying to prevent individual crimes
02:22is essentially putting divine duct tape over an impossible system.
02:26The satisfying solution isn't finding the sinner.
02:28It's proving that the rule itself is fundamentally broken.
02:31The canon ending requires uncovering the city's history, getting to know its citizens,
02:36and eventually confronting the being responsible for the Golden Rule.
02:55Through dialogue and persuasion, the player can force the likes of Pluto himself to recognize the failure
03:00of his supposedly perfect experiment and finally release everyone.
03:04Which leads to the real reward – the museum epilogue.
03:07Rather than simply rolling credits, the game lets you walk through a modern exhibition
03:11and reunite with the people you've spent countless loops helping.
03:14You discover what became of them and see how their lives improved once they were finally free.
03:18Sitting together on our terrace with a glass of our wine, which the locals say is almost drinkable now.
03:25And watching the sun set over the rolling hillside.
03:29And I couldn't be happier.
03:32Another path. God of War Ragnarok.
03:34Considering how many Greek gods Kratos reduced to paste,
03:37beloved spiritual leader probably wasn't high on anybody's list of possible career paths.
03:42And that's exactly why God of War Ragnarok's ending works so well.
03:47Father, I need to talk to you about something.
03:54There are other giants out there.
03:57And I've gotta find them.
03:59Kratos and Atreus survive Ragnarok, overthrow Odin, and escape the destruction of Asgard.
04:04But the real payoff comes afterwards.
04:06Atreus decides it's time to leave his father and begin his own journey to find the remaining giants.
04:11The old Kratos might have responded by tightening his grip.
04:14Instead, he lets his son go.
04:16Son, you are ready.
04:20But that's not all.
04:22Behind Fae's hidden shrine, Kratos discovers another image depicting something almost incomprehensible to him.
04:27People worshipping him.
04:29Not because they fear him, because they love him.
04:31Seeing the normally stoic Kratos become emotional as he realizes he can leave behind something other than death is enormously
04:37cathartic.
04:38For once, Kratos gets to choose what kind of god he becomes.
04:41A god of hope.
04:43What did you see in there, brother?
04:50Well...
04:51Reaching the moon.
04:52To the moon.
04:53Emotionally manipulative?
04:55Immensely.
04:56Will you cry all the same?
04:57Damn right you will.
05:07Doctor's Eva Rosaline and Neil Watts are tasked with entering the memories of dying patient Johnny Wiles so they can
05:13fulfill his final wish.
05:15Traveling to the moon.
05:16Slowly, they discover that Johnny doesn't even fully understand why he wants to go there.
05:20The answer lies in childhood memories lost after his twin brother's death.
05:29As a boy, Johnny meets the likes of River at a carnival, and the two promise that if they ever
05:34became separated, they would regroup on the moon.
05:36Rosaline and Watts ultimately restructure Johnny's memories so that he grows up pursuing a career at NASA.
05:42As the real Johnny lies dying, the artificial memories reach their conclusion.
05:46Johnny and River board a spacecraft together, holding hands just as his heart goes out in the real world.
06:05It's bittersweet because none of this technically happened.
06:08Yet Johnny dies believing that he kept a promise he'd forgotten he ever made.
06:18Death Wish.
06:19Grand Theft Auto V.
06:20After spending an entire game stealing cars, robbing banks, and resolving disagreements with military-grade weaponry,
06:26Grand Theft Auto V gives Franklin one final choice.
06:29Kill Trevor, kill Michael, or choose Death Wish.
06:40Let's be honest.
06:41Was anybody picking the first two after spending 40 hours with these lunatics?
06:45Option C.
06:46The third way is GTA V turning its finale into pure wish fulfillment.
06:50Instead of betraying one of his partners, Franklin gets Michael and Trevor together and decides that everybody trying to manipulate
06:56them can go instead.
06:58The trio ambush their enemies, survive a massive shootout, and systemically eliminate Stretch, Wei Shang, Steve Haynes, and finally Devin
07:05Weston.
07:11The three protagonists kidnap the smug billionaire, stuff him into the boot of his own car, and give him one
07:16final lecture about friendship and capitalism, and push him off a cliff.
07:26Nobody becomes a better person.
07:28This is still Grand Theft Auto.
07:29But after an entire story built around betrayal, mistrust, and people using each other, the ultimate victory is that these
07:35three walking catastrophes choose loyalty.
07:37For Los Santos, that's practically wholesome.
07:40I'm getting too old for this nonsense.
07:44Eager for more Carnage with Trevor and the Boys, head on over to Mojoplay's 24-7 livestream by scanning the
07:49QR code on screen for all the best content that gaming has to offer.
07:56Something Beautiful
07:57Disco Elysium
08:06Depending on how you've played Disco Elysium, Detective Harry Dubois can reach the finale as a recovering alcoholic, a communist
08:12superstar, an apocalyptic prophet, a complete disaster, or, more realistically, several of those at once.
08:18But after solving the murder at the center of Martinez, the game delivers something nobody expected.
08:23The Insulindium Phasmid is real.
08:25The insect's head is crowned with reed-like scales, the shape of seed heads.
08:30They rustle as the air moves.
08:33The ventricles at its abdomen continue to expanding like lunglets.
08:38Throughout the game, the rumors of an enormous cryptid feel like a charming distraction from the murder investigation.
08:43Then, while confronting the deserter responsible for the overarching crime, the gigantic stick insect simply emerges from the reeds.
08:50We suspect it would be something like the oxygen holocaust that wiped out anaerobic life 2.6 billion years ago
08:59when organisms first started breathing.
09:02Only much worse.
09:03Harry can even communicate with it, turning an apparently ridiculous side quest into one of the game's most strangely spiritual
09:09moments.
09:10If Kim is present, he photographs the creature, meaning Harry finally has proof that, for once, the unimaginable thing he
09:16claims to have seen actually happened.
09:18He takes out the photo and shows it to the officers across the yard.
09:23Rain comes down.
09:25He covers the glossy photo of the phasmid with his hand.
09:30You hear gasps beneath the howling of the wind.
09:33On a strong playthrough, Harry keeps his job and demonstrates that despite being profoundly broken, he can still be a
09:39detective.
09:40It doesn't magically fix his life, but he solves the case.
09:43He sees a miracle, and perhaps, most importantly, he gets another chance.
09:47Reunited. Hollow Knight. Silksong.
09:49Players waited an absurdly long time for Silksong.
09:52Thankfully, its deepest ending gives them quite the reward for making it through Farlum.
10:01While defeating Grandmother Silk can initially bring Hornet's journey to an apparent conclusion,
10:06Unlocking Act 3 reveals there is considerably more work to do.
10:10The road eventually leads Hornet into the Abyss in a confrontation with Lost Lace, her rival now consumed by the
10:15Void.
10:24Defeating her doesn't end with Hornet simply putting an old enemy down.
10:28Instead, Hornet spares her and attempts to escape using Grandmother Silk's remaining power, only for the Void to threaten both
10:34of them.
10:34And then Hollow Knight fans get the payoff they've been waiting for.
10:37The Knight returns.
10:48Now manifested through the Void alongside his other siblings, the original game's protagonist protects Hornet and Lace from the tendrils,
10:55carries them safely toward the surface.
10:57With Grandmother Silk finally gone, the Void-corrupted threads covering Farlum disappear.
11:01Lace awakens, and she and Hornet share a quiet moment together.
11:05Absolute cinema.
11:14Revenge.
11:14Red Dead Redemption.
11:16Calling Red Dead Redemption's ending satisfying might initially sound like emotional sadism.
11:20Take a look at that.
11:25Jack, go to the house, lock all the doors.
11:28Whatever happens, don't come outside, you hear me? Whatever happens.
11:31John Marston does everything Edgar Ross demands.
11:33He hunts down his former gang, he returns home, he rebuilds his ranch,
11:37and for a brief moment, it genuinely looks like Rockstar is going to let him live happily ever after with
11:42Abigail and Jack.
11:43Then the government arrives.
11:45Don't be worried about me, you hear? Now get going.
11:48You stay out of trouble, John.
11:50Ain't no trouble, Abigail. Ain't no trouble.
11:53John realizes Ross will never stop hunting him, and sends his family away before stepping out of the barn alone.
11:59The Deadeye mechanic appears one final time, except this time there are simply too many targets.
12:04John dies buying his family their freedom, but the game isn't finished.
12:08Years later, control shifts to an adult Jack Marston.
12:11The world has moved on, Abigail has died, and Edgar Ross is comfortably enjoying retirement.
12:16Jack tracks him down beside a river, and challenges him to a duel.
12:20One shot later, Ross is dead.
12:29The revenge is immensely cathartic while simultaneously proving John's tragedy.
12:33He wanted his son to escape the outlaw life, but Jack ultimately inherited it.
12:37Father and Son Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots
12:41How do you conclude decades of clones, conspiracies, nanomachines, secret societies, nuclear robots, and people named Snake?
12:47Apparently, with about 17 endings stacked on top of each other.
12:50This is it, brother. Our final moment.
12:55And somehow, it works.
12:57Metal Gear Solid 4 first delivers the spectacular fistfight between Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot atop Outer Haven,
13:02gradually cycling through the music, health bars, and aesthetics of previous Metal Gear Solid games.
13:07And it's not just a boss battle.
13:09It's the entire series beating itself senseless one last time.
13:15You're pretty good.
13:16You're pretty good.
13:17Pretty good.
13:21But the real closure comes at the boss's grave.
13:25Snake, believing his body threatens the world, prepares to take his own life.
13:28He ultimately stops, only for his thought-long dead father nemesis Big Boss to drop in.
13:34Let it go.
13:36My son.
13:39I'm not here to fight.
13:44Or should I call you brother?
13:48The former Snake explains the truth behind the Patriots, Ocelot's sacrifice,
13:52finally kills an aged Zero, and once again salutes at the boss's grave even as the Foxtai Virus consumes him.
13:59Before dying, he encourages his son to stop fighting and spend whatever life remains simply living.
14:04This might just be Kojima's masterwork.
14:12The End of Everything
14:13Outer Wilds
14:15Most games tell you you're the chosen hero who can save the universe.
14:18Outer Wilds eventually reveals something much more terrifying.
14:21You can't.
14:28The stars aren't exploding because of some evil mastermind.
14:31The universe is simply dying.
14:33The time loop gives you endless opportunities to investigate,
14:36but no amount of cleverness can stop the inevitable.
14:38The only thing you can change is what happens next.
14:49After finally reaching the mysterious eye of the universe, the player enters a surreal recreation shaped by their experiences.
14:56One by one, you find your fellow travelers, or representations of them, and gather everyone around a final campfire.
15:02Each brings their instrument.
15:10Together, they perform the musical theme you've been hearing in fragments throughout the entire game.
15:15You're then given one last thing to explore.
15:18Possibility itself.
15:19Entering the quantum sphere collapses those possibilities, and a new universe explodes into existence.
15:25After the credits, the game jumps forward 14.3 billion years, showing new worlds and potentially new life.
15:38Outer Wilds doesn't let you conquer death.
15:41It teaches you to accept it.
15:43Your universe ends.
15:44Your friends disappear.
15:45Everything you've explored is gone.
15:47But something will eventually come afterwards.
15:49A Hero's End.
15:51Medieval.
15:57Ser Daniel Fortescue, or the Hero of Gallimere, led the charge against the sinister sorcerer Zarok,
16:03but before they could meet on the battlefield, his heroic head met an anticlimactic arrow.
16:08This embarrassing secret was buried along with him, but when Zarok returned, so did Ser Daniel.
16:13After hacking and slashing through an army of menacing minions, and eventually beating the wicked sorcerer himself,
16:18the chivalrous skeleton is once again laid in rest with his honor intact.
16:23But hold on, it gets even more wholesome.
16:25If the player grabs all the chalices, then Ser Daniel will take his rightful place among other courageous champions in
16:31the Hall of Heroes.
16:39Two Wolves, The Witcher 3, Wild Hunt.
16:42Is it done?
16:44Yes.
16:46Did he believe you?
16:48I have no idea.
16:50To most people, Geralt of Rivia has more in common with monsters he kills than with a family man,
16:55which is why it's so delightful to see him be a kinda sorta dad to his adopted daughter Ciri.
17:01Players spend most of the game combing through the continent looking for her.
17:04Your choices impact your ending, so if you play your cards right, and we don't mean Gwent, then you can
17:10get the most uplifting ending.
17:11Where Ciri survives her bout with the White Frost, she continues to be a Witcher, and decides to be a
17:16part of Geralt's oddball family along with Yennefer or Triss.
17:20Let's try it out, then.
17:23Tomorrow.
17:24Gears of War 3.
17:26Your father always thought he had all the answers.
17:30But he had none.
17:33Nothing but clever ways to kill.
17:37This series is known for being grim and gory, so players tend to cherish any feel-good moments they can
17:42get their hands on.
17:43After a steady supply of suffering, this relatively optimistic ending goes a long way.
17:48Marcus Fenix finally gets revenge for everyone he lost along the way by killing Queen Mira, the leader of the
17:54Locust.
17:54His father, who sadly had to sacrifice himself, ends the threat of the Locust, the Lambent, and the Emulsion in
18:00an instant.
18:02Humanity is now at peace and at last has hope.
18:05Plus, Clayton Carmine survives this game.
18:08The cycle is broken.
18:10What have we got back now?
18:15Tomorrow, Marcus.
18:16We finally got a tomorrow.
18:19A Helping Hand.
18:21Nier Automata.
18:28One of the 26 endings, this is definitely the one to restore your faith in humanity.
18:33While facing arguably the weirdest boss in the game, the literal credits, your ship is easily engulfed by bright orbs
18:40that seem impossible to beat.
18:41When all seems lost, a prompt pops up asking if you need help.
18:45If you do, then a few ships swoop down to protect you while the rising music will drown out your
18:50worries.
18:50The help you receive is from a random gamer who sacrificed their save data to help an absolute stranger who
18:56turned out to be you.
18:58You can choose to do the same thing by spreading some gamer goodwill to someone else.
19:06Goodbye.
19:07Portal 2.
19:17After almost escaping the grip of series antagonist GLaDOS at the end of the first game, just to be put
19:22through even more of her terrifying tests in the sequel, it's only natural that players find her potato-related predicament
19:28a little too satisfying.
19:30What you don't expect is for all of those feelings to be tossed out the window after you find out
19:35GLaDOS's origins, make an uneasy alliance with the malicious AI, and then see a smidge of humanity develop in her.
19:42Granted, she does delete said humanity shortly after and then gives you something sweeter than the cake you never got.
19:48Freedom.
19:49And what's left of your companion cube.
19:57Passing on.
19:59Spiritfarer.
20:05Stella, the titular Spiritfarer, is tasked with finding spirits and granting them one final wish before ferrying them off to
20:12Everdore, where they will cross over into the afterlife.
20:15She finds some whimsical wayward souls and gets to know each of them.
20:19Before you know it, you've bonded with them and are bawling your eyes out whenever you have to say goodbye.
20:24The whole experience feels fulfilling, especially after finding out about Stella's past as a palliative care nurse.
20:30If your eyes were dry until then, we're sure you'll happy cry when you see Stella and her cat, Daffodil,
20:36take her turn to pass through the Everdore and light up the sky.
20:46Reforging Bonds.
20:47Hades.
20:48I loved her, yes.
20:50I loved her terribly.
20:53But now, it seems I'm merely delaying the inevitable.
20:57This frenetic roguelike dungeon crawler puts you in the stubborn shoes of Hades' son, Zagreus, who's trying to escape the
21:04underworld to find his biological mother.
21:06As Zagreus deals with all of his father's fury over and over again, his persistence pays off when he meets
21:12his mother and reunites her with his father.
21:15If you choose to help the tons of tormented permanent residents along the way and increase your heat level to
21:20eight, then you can unlock the secret ending where Zagreus, Hades, and Persephone invite the gods of Olympus to the
21:26underworld to break bread.
21:28This tender ending warms our hearts.
21:30We hope it sticks.
21:32The Queen Persephone revealed herself in all her splendor, much to their surprise, and told them everything she indicated to
21:40her son.
21:41A new life.
21:42Uncharted 4 A Thief's End.
21:51With a foreboding title like A Thief's End, most players might have assumed that Nathan Drake was going to bite
21:56the big one at the end of the game.
21:58But luckily, that didn't happen to our treasured treasure hunter.
22:01Naughty Dog delivered a heartwarming ending instead, with Nate and Elena going legit and Sam and Sully going off on
22:07their own adventure.
22:08But what will melt your heart entirely is the epilogue.
22:11We meet Nate and Elena's daughter Cassie, who pokes around her house and finds out about her parents' exciting exploits.
22:18When confronted about it, they'll tell her their tale, starting from where it all began.
22:22You know what?
22:23The sun is up.
22:25Boat's ready.
22:26Wind is just right.
22:27You want to continue the story?
22:28I say we do it on the water.
22:30The final run.
22:32Combat Evolved.
22:41If you aren't humming this theme by now, you will be.
22:45We're shifting gears to something more action-packed.
22:47The end of the campaign sees our favorite Spartan blitzing through wave after wave of the Covenant and the Flood
22:53on the Pillar of Autumn Cruiser.
22:54The once familiar setting is now in ruins and bursting with enemies at every corner, which keeps the player on
23:00their toes throughout.
23:01What ensues right after this is one of the tensest joyrides in gaming history, where you'll need nerves of steel
23:07and a lead foot to escape the destruction of the Halo ring.
23:11The iconic Warthog run sequence is so beloved that it became a series staple.
23:28Before we continue, check out this single from Sound Mojo's Adia, Songs from Iran, reimagining Persian melodies as modern rock,
23:36metal, and pop songs.
23:38Check out the full track and album below.
23:40My heart belongs to you.
23:51True Pacifist. Undertale.
24:00If you want to squeeze as much joy from this quirky RPG as possible, then the Pacifist route is the
24:05way to go.
24:06You need to spare everyone you meet and date every main character so that you're all set for one of
24:11the most heartfelt finales.
24:12While battling the reincarnated Asriel, it's difficult not to get pumped up when your pals help you win by reaching
24:18out to him.
24:19Once the barrier between the underground and the surface is broken, the monsters make peace with the humans and live
24:24well-adjusted lives among them.
24:26The only thing that would make this ending better would be a warm slice of cinnamon pie.
24:31Ah, there we go.
24:46Is thatner, that is my name?
24:47If you'd like and d
