00:00The SEC and the Big Ten, I give them credit.
00:03They were the only ones that stood up today and said, all right, we got to draw a line
00:07in the sand here, Tom.
00:08Like, they're not letting you come back to play on a team.
00:12If you went, declared for the draft, you went to a preseason, you got paid money from the
00:18NFL, they're basically writing laws now that say you can't come back to the SEC, and if
00:26any team or university actually puts them and brings them back on a team, there's all
00:32sorts of penalties and everything.
00:34This is all fine and dandy.
00:36The problem is the Big 12 ain't doing that.
00:39The ACC is not doing that.
00:41And all we got to do, Tom, you know how it is, find the right judge in the right state.
00:47You go in there, and the minute you try to prevent me from going back to school for a
00:51fifth year, you know what's going to happen.
00:53A friendly judge is going to give them a pass, so all those rules that the Big 10 and the
00:59SEC keep telling us on all these things they're going to do, they're ultimately not going to
01:04mean anything once you get into the court and a judge goes, yeah, no, they can go back to
01:09school, which was the NCAA's claim from the very beginning.
01:14Right.
01:15And I want to know what date this takes effect on.
01:19Is it effective immediately?
01:19Does this affect Daquan Wright, who just left the Browns two days ago, three days ago,
01:25whenever it was to go back to LSU or go to LSU?
01:30So that's what I want to know.
01:32Is it effective immediately?
01:33Is it retroactive?
01:34Are players grandfathered in?
01:37Can you be grandfathered in for something from five days ago?
01:40Yeah.
01:40And then you could be there for this season, but it's effective immediately.
01:45So that's what I want to know.
01:47You said it yesterday that college football has, or college sports, have lost the plot
01:51where they're allowing players that were drafted go back to college.
01:56I think it should be a clean rule where if you enter the draft and you play in the NFL,
02:00you sign an NFL contract with the NBA, you can't go back and play.
02:04It's that simple.
02:04Now, again, I think there may be an avenue for players that go undrafted to then return,
02:11but they're not allowed to sign with a team.
02:12Like, you can't go undrafted, sign with a team, and then go back.
02:16If you go undrafted, and then you can go right back to college.
02:19That I could be okay with.
02:21And, you know, the ironic thing is here, and it's so funny because all of these conferences,
02:28they're just pounding their chest and, oh, we're going to make room.
02:33We're all the, all the athletic directors, and we're all, but none of that matters in
02:38the least bit because none of it is going to matter, certainly, if the Big 12 goes, and
02:44we already heard the Texas Tech head coach come out and go, listen, I have 105 guys I'm
02:50allowed to keep on a team.
02:51I have 104 right now.
02:53And he point blank said, Joey McGuire, if I get a guy that gets cut from the NFL this
03:00week, that has a fifth year and wants to come back, he says, you think I'm not going to
03:05consider bringing him on the team?
03:07Of course I'm going to.
03:08These coaches are paid to win football games by all means necessary.
03:13If they're not breaking any laws and a judge is saying, you can go back and play for a fifth
03:20year, then what exactly are you doing besides grabbing headlines and telling everyone how
03:26great you are?
03:27And that's the thing that cracks me up about this, Tom, is none of this is going to make
03:31a difference.
03:32But when you've got universities and conferences spending all this time with PR trying to tell
03:39me about how you're not going to allow it, you don't really have a say in it.
03:43And oh, by the way, if I'm the ACC, go ahead, bring them on.
03:47Go to Miami, go to Florida State, go to maybe Dabo has a change of heart and finally decides
03:53that, you know what?
03:54Get a couple of NFL players back in here.
03:57If I was Shador Sanders and this one, would I have gone to the Browns in the fifth round
04:02or would I have gone back for a fifth year of eligibility, Tom?
04:06He probably would have gone back one more year, play it, improve his draft stock overall,
04:13put up some good tape, whatever you want to call it.
04:15I could see a lot of players be willing to do that.
04:17And, you know, when you're a top draft pick, a lot of that comes with guaranteed money.
04:22You know, the draft slot and the money that goes with it is huge and it's vastly different.
04:27And we see it immediately after the draft ends.
04:30We see all the NFL reporters tweeting out that, oh, this player signed to a futures contract
04:35with an NFL team.
04:36The UDFA signs with this team for, you know, he's going to be at, you know, OTAs with this
04:40team or rookie OTAs, wherever it is.
04:42Some of those players may not end up being there.
04:44They may go back to college just for one more year of eligibility, the length of the portal.
04:48I assume there would have to be some standard or process where, I don't know if the school
04:52that they were at has first dibs on them, but something along those lines.
04:56Thanks.
04:56Thanks.
