00:00U.S. Trade Representative Jameson Greer says the Trump administration does not have an open channel of communication to the
00:07Canadian government for now.
00:09This is after trade talks between the two countries broke down last week.
00:13So what will it take to get back to the table, Ambassador? Who makes the first move here in your
00:19mind?
00:20Well, you know, the Canadians put out a press release saying they were suspending the talks.
00:24You know, the Canadian side is proceeding with additional retaliation and a variety of things like that.
00:30So so it's not clear to me on that front. I mean, the reality is we have a trade policy.
00:35It's global in nature. We're proceeding with it. If there's further retaliation from the Canadian side, you know, we, of
00:42course, we're not going to just sit down and take that.
00:45You know, our view is don't you know, don't retaliate. But I know that, you know, I know how people
00:50are feeling in Canada and what they think.
00:51So, you know, it's unfortunate, but it is what it is. And we have our own trade policy and we'll
00:57proceed with it in the way that's best for the United States.
