00:02Can you give us your initial reaction to what we've seen overnight in Nepal?
00:07Thank you for having me.
00:09First of all, I would like to express my prayers to those that have lost their lives,
00:15as well as our deepest condolences to those bereaved families,
00:21and also our prayers to those that are still missing.
00:25We are hoping and praying for good news, including for those that were visiting from the United Kingdom.
00:33First, when I heard about this news, we didn't realize the enormity of it,
00:40which, of course, over time, as it became clearer,
00:43how significant and how distressing and devastating these vast floods,
00:50as well as the mudslide has been.
00:53And, like, it is beyond disbelief, it is heartbreaking, it is tragic,
00:59or just come to terms with it.
01:02And if we, from the outside, are feeling this way,
01:05you can just about imagine how devastating it is for the people living through it
01:11and experiencing it right now over there in Nepal.
01:15Have you spoken to other people in the Nepalese community in Kent?
01:18And if you have, how are they feeling?
01:22Yes, I think there is a large Gherkin Nepalese community across Kent.
01:28And all of us are, first of all, like I said, it's the disbelief,
01:33but on the other hand, it's about praying for the loved ones.
01:36And also the other important part is about what can we do in this time,
01:43in this moment in time to come together, support each other,
01:47but also is there anything we can do to help people over there?
01:52We're just waiting for further confirmation between different community leaders
01:57to coordinate a sort of fundraising or anything we can do to express to Nepal
02:04that, Nepal, you're not alone.
02:06We stand together and we are here.
02:11And to send a strong message to Nepal, to stay strong, really.
02:16Well, Andy Burnham said that he's going to pledge some money
02:19towards aid efforts in Nepal.
02:21Do you back that?
02:23Absolutely, because, as I said, Nepal is a friend of the United Kingdom.
02:31And I think I would heartily welcome this initiative from the government,
02:38from the Honourable Prime Minister.
02:40And I would also urge all the nations across the world to join hands
02:45at this particular moment in time to show solidarity and support
02:50in whatever way possible to Nepal and the people of Nepal.
