04:58Welcome, welcome, welcome.
05:00Welcome on in to the 4-in-1 podcast.
05:04This is an amazing day today.
05:07We are celebrating six years of the 4-in-1 podcast.
05:13I actually came up with some crazy idea, because that's what everybody thought I was crazy at the moment, to
05:22start a podcast and just go live on Instagram.
05:25And I started with maybe like 20 people.
05:30And honestly, I lost count today.
05:33But I'm so thankful for the movement.
05:35I'm so thankful for the friendships and the connections that I have, you know, been blessed with over the years.
05:43And I say it every night, but I'm still amazed by it and thankful.
05:50And I could not do it with each and without each and every one of you.
05:53And I most certainly could not do it without my executive producer.
05:57I want to thank God for giving me another opportunity to come out here and give you all the 4
06:04-in-1 podcast.
06:04Thank you so much.
06:16I don't know if we had some upgrades or some technical difficulties, but the opening was real dope.
06:23No, I've never done that before, but it was real interesting with the music in the background.
06:28So I like that.
06:29So maybe we got some upgrades on the show that nobody alerted me about, but we're going to do a
06:35real 4-in-1 style here today.
06:37I'm not going to keep you long.
06:39I really don't even have anything really to say.
06:42I just want to hear from, you know, the people out there.
06:46So again, as always, do me a favor.
06:49Please like, comment, share, subscribe, tag a friend, text a friend, do whatever you can do to help support the
06:54movement.
06:54I know we've been here for 6 years, but we still have so much more growth and so much more
07:00to do.
07:01And I need your help and I need your support.
07:03So please go ahead and hit that like button, subscribe, tag a friend, text a friend, repost, retweet, whatever you
07:10do.
07:12Please help share this out.
07:14Very special what's up to the people out there on Spotify.
07:17Thank you all so much.
07:18Thank you to YouTube.
07:20Thank you to the Facebook family.
07:22Thank you to the Daily Motion family.
07:25Again, just across the board.
07:27Thank you so much.
07:28Now we're going to get into my favorite segment of the show.
07:32I love speaking about music.
07:34So let's get into the song of the day.
07:45None other than Stevie Wonder.
07:48I was actually born when this song came out.
07:51Can't believe it.
07:521980 off of his album, Hotter Than July.
07:56Happy birthday.
07:57So I want to give a special happy birthday in one podcast.
08:02And that's pretty much all I want to say when it comes to the song of the day.
08:06You know what happens when that song comes on.
08:10When it's somebody's birthday and, you know, that's how you want to celebrate.
08:14Not the old, you know, traditional way you want to celebrate.
08:18At least I do with the Stevie version.
08:21Love that one.
08:23And now let's go ahead and hit these phone lines and reach out to friends.
08:29Let's see out there and see what we have going on here.
08:34Let's see.
08:49What's going on?
08:50What's going on, Antonio?
08:51What's good with you?
08:53Hey, boss.
08:54What's up?
08:55What's up?
08:55What's up?
08:56What's good?
08:56Welcome on in.
08:57I'm doing good, man.
08:58I'm doing good, actually.
09:00How are you doing?
09:01I'm doing good.
09:02I'm doing great.
09:03I feel amazing tonight.
09:04You know, celebrating.
09:07Just looking back.
09:08Congrats on the sixth year anniversary, man.
09:10That's awesome.
09:12I appreciate that.
09:13I appreciate you.
09:14I was looking at our episode, actually.
09:17I went back and watched the replay.
09:20It's interesting.
09:22Rising from the ashes?
09:23Absolutely.
09:24Yeah.
09:26I was like, look at what we did last year.
09:30Was it last year?
09:31Yeah, it was last year.
09:33And then your daily routine was talent on you.
09:36Right.
09:36The two separate.
09:37I think it was two separate seasons with you.
09:40So let's talk about that.
09:44So when did we first meet?
09:48When was that?
09:49I'd say about two years ago.
09:52Okay.
09:53Two years.
09:53Met you through Instagram.
09:55So now when you look back at the growth that you have made,
10:02tell about it.
10:04Man, it's, you know, it's crazy because I've been at it for about six years.
10:10And, you know, I'm in my infancy stages.
10:13But, you know, the sound from then to now, you know, I've been working on it.
10:17I got better people to help me.
10:19I got, you know, certain people to be sound engineers.
10:22And, you know, I'm more creative now because, you know, I love when life strikes back and odds are against
10:29you because, you know, I work better in those conditions.
10:32And so, yeah, man, a lot has happened since then, since your daily routine has been telling on you, the
10:39most recent one.
10:40And I actually hopped on a show, the best music show.
10:44And then I hopped on Mile High Minute and then Colorado Heavy Hitters.
10:50Finally got some local outlets to check me out.
10:52And I've been on a few other shows, you know, just I'm just trying to grow and be more of
10:57a, you know, a public persona within the music.
11:03Now, you said you mentioned the episode a couple times.
11:06So now I'm going to just flip it on you and ask you, is your daily routine telling on you?
11:12And that's a good question because, yes, you know, ever since, you know, sacrificing, you know, my body.
11:19But, you know what I mean, for my music, I've actually been in touch.
11:22Now I exercise.
11:24It's been a while since I've exercised.
11:25And now I wake up three days a week and I get into it.
11:29Hmm.
11:29Hmm.
11:30Yeah.
11:31You know, it's interesting because I speak about, you know, debt-free living from the mental, spiritual, physical and financial.
11:39And I got to be honest.
11:41Can I just be honest?
11:42Like this year, 2026, when it comes to physical fitness for me, this is it right here.
11:51That's good.
11:52That's good to hear.
11:53No, that's not good.
11:55Did you?
11:56How you go?
11:56This is the year?
11:57No.
11:59I need to, I need to.
12:02You need to start, you're saying?
12:03Yeah, I need to straighten out.
12:05Oh, man.
12:06Yeah.
12:07Hey, it starts with baby steps because, you know, I was a personal trainer when I graduated, you know, in
12:122017.
12:13And I learned a lot from that.
12:15And, you know, it all starts with like how you preach, you know, starts with your eating and, you know,
12:20good mind, good body, you know, your good temple.
12:23So you're good to go.
12:24Oh, one thing, though, is that I stay active, though.
12:26I stay active, but actually having a fitness routine, that's definitely something that I can focus on, definitely.
12:35But I'm keeping it real.
12:37Now, if I came out here and was like, yeah, you know, I'd be hitting the gym and I'd be
12:41doing all this.
12:42And, yeah, I definitely don't want to do that.
12:45Yeah, I don't go to the gym.
12:47They're always too packed and you can never get a machine or exercise equipment because, you know, there's always somebody
12:52using it.
12:53And it's like, you know, you know how it goes.
12:55Unless you're going to like an expensive boutique gym where, you know, you got it all and there's not a
13:00lot of members.
13:02No, I do everything at home.
13:06Actually, I have another baby on the way.
13:08Oh, yeah, that's great.
13:09Congratulations on that.
13:10I remember you telling me that.
13:11Yeah, yeah, yeah.
13:12So, yeah, I've been, you know, just trying to show my daughter I have, that's four, you know, be active,
13:19you know.
13:20Right.
13:20Show her the active way.
13:25Well, I appreciate you for coming through.
13:27Thank you so much.
13:29And hang tight.
13:31Maybe we could bring you back on again.
13:33I definitely do appreciate you.
13:35And, yeah, thanks for stopping by.
13:38Appreciate you guys, you, for giving everybody a platform.
13:42Giving us a voice.
13:44No doubt.
13:45No doubt.
13:46All right.
13:46Talk to you soon.
13:48Yes, sir.
13:49All right.
13:51So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen.
13:53That was Mr. Trujillo.
13:58Antonio Trujillo.
14:01Trujillo.
14:02There you go.
14:05I had to get it right.
14:07Sometimes these names, you know how I was in the beginning with the names, but Antonio Trujillo.
14:12There you go.
14:13Now, let's go ahead and see who else we have out there.
14:17Friend of the show.
14:18You know who he is.
14:19He's about to come up now.
14:32He's about to come up now.
14:34What's going on?
14:37Bird man, what's up?
14:39Oh, hey.
14:39How's it going?
14:40Okay.
14:41I was waiting to see if you was going to mention my name.
14:43Hey, I'm doing all right, man.
14:45I'm doing all right.
14:46I'm sorry about that.
14:47No, it's all good.
14:49Long time, no speak.
14:50Long time, no speak.
14:52Yeah, like what?
14:5324 hours?
14:56Right, right.
14:58So, what's good with you?
15:00Oh, man.
15:01I got out, went out and walked through the park.
15:04It was hot, but enjoyed it.
15:06Just trying to stay busy.
15:09You know, I enjoy our program on Wednesdays.
15:13I mean, I, you know, you always hear this thing about, you think you have problems, you think you went
15:22through things, but until, you know, you hear other people's stories, it's like, wow, man, I'm not the only one
15:32that has gone through some of the similar things.
15:35You know, and like I said, I've been enjoying it, my son, especially, you know, he's been, he said that,
15:43he said, you know, he said, listening to you too, man, he said, has helped me with a lot of
15:51things in his personal life.
15:53And, you know, I, you know, I told him, thank you.
15:56You know, I said, you know, you know, I've always tried to be there for him.
16:03And, you know, of course, you know, about my poetry, my videos.
16:08I had, I've had to put a pause on my videos because my program is acting up.
16:15I'm just waiting to hear back from him.
16:18But, you know, and I've had some, I guess you can say health issues, you know, and, but it hadn't
16:26slowed me down.
16:27So I'm still writing, I'm still, when I get the chance to go out and shoot videos, take pictures, I'm
16:37doing it all.
16:37And like I said, you know, Wednesdays, I look forward to Wednesdays now all the time.
16:44It seems like that's when my week begins is, you know, once we go on the program and afterwards, I
16:51feel great afterwards.
16:52Wow.
16:53And, you know, I know when it first started, I, you know, I was kind of feeling like, wow, man.
17:01But now I feel more comfortable when we sit on there and we talk and then we laugh.
17:08Well, we laugh and talk and it's like we throw the problems in, but we also talk about music.
17:15So that makes it, that makes it a whole lot better.
17:19Well, I just have to say, just as, as much as you might've been nervous and, and whatever you were
17:27feeling, I was feeling the same way because I shifted back in 2020.
17:33This is exactly how the podcast started, just open format.
17:37I used to talk about everything and then I started to shift it more towards, you know, financial awareness and
17:45spiritual and, and things of that nature.
17:47And that was a little nervous for me because I didn't know who would accept it, who didn't.
17:52And then finally I got to the point where I was like, whoever doesn't accept it, whatever, they're just not
17:57for me.
17:58So again, without you, I could have not done this.
18:03This was a transformational year for me and, um, I feel the shift.
18:08I see the shift and people are speaking about it now.
18:12So again, most certainly could not do it without you.
18:15It's definitely, we, we locked in now.
18:20I appreciate, you know, I really appreciate that, man, because, you know, I think, you know, as time goes on,
18:28especially, like I said, when I was, I was, I'd be thinking about when I was growing up, I was
18:34always teased.
18:36I was always bullied.
18:37I was always told, even from teachers that I would never be anything.
18:43And I sit back and I think about that and sometimes it hurts.
18:48And when I'm back there listening to my music or I'm back there, you know, practicing on my bass, working
18:53on a tune, sometime a teardrop comes because of that.
18:57And I'm like, wow, man, I look back and I look at my videos and I'm like, whoa, man, I
19:03never even thought that I could make videos like this.
19:07And I've had people who've actually asked me, well, how do you do it?
19:13I just told him, hey, man, just sit down and do it yourself.
19:17I mean, I will help a person, but I'm not going to give you my secret for free.
19:26You know what?
19:28See, you speaking like a musician.
19:30I know where you coming from.
19:33You know, and there's a lot of people who want me to give them everything for free.
19:41And I'm like, hey, man, just download a video program like I did and just work at it.
19:50And eventually you learn because that's no one taught me how to video.
19:56I just sit down and I just started working at it, working at it, working at it.
20:02Yeah, I made mistakes.
20:04There are some videos I made mistakes on.
20:07But then I went back and I've been redoing some old videos now because of my knowledge that I have
20:15of it.
20:17Right, right.
20:17And even my writing has, or it has improved a lot.
20:22Now, I used to write a lot of short stuff.
20:26Now they're starting, I'm putting a few more lines to it.
20:29And it's starting to stretch out a little bit more now.
20:32Right.
20:33And I'm liking it, you know, I'm looking at my, I'm like, wow, man, I can't believe I'm writing all
20:38of this.
20:39But I am.
20:42That part right there, but I am, right.
20:46Yes.
20:48But anyway, I just want to say thank you for having me on here every week.
20:54It's been a blessing.
20:57Same.
20:57And, you know, you platform to everybody.
20:59So, hey, I just want to say thank you.
21:02You are so welcome.
21:03And, of course, we got a heck of a lot more coming.
21:06So stick around, hang around, and, you know, maybe we'll bring you back on towards the end of the show.
21:12And we'll see who else we have out here.
21:14But I appreciate you.
21:16Have a good one.
21:16Yes.
21:17All right.
21:19There you have it, ladies and gentlemen.
21:21That was author, poet, Birdman313.
21:25And I have a very special guest coming up right now.
21:30Let's see.
21:30Let's get her on the phone.
21:46What's going on?
21:47You out there, Ms. SOS?
21:49Yeah.
21:49Can you hear me?
21:50Oh, yeah.
21:51I hear you loud and clear.
21:52What's going on?
21:54I'm, everything's, well, everything is okay.
21:56I'm not going to say great because it's not.
21:58But, you know, life.
22:03You there?
22:04Now the phone wants to act up.
22:08Is what it is.
22:09Wow.
22:09But I just want to say congratulations to you.
22:13Damn.
22:14Oh, wait.
22:15I hear you, but you keep going in and out.
22:17It was going so well.
22:18Oh, wait.
22:19Should I call that?
22:20Yeah, I hear you.
22:22How about now?
22:23How about now?
22:27Yeah, I hear you.
22:27I knew this was going to happen.
22:28Okay.
22:29Okay.
22:30Yeah.
22:31Yeah.
22:32So, no, I just want to say congratulations.
22:35And, you know, I was there with you when you first started.
22:39Absolutely.
22:40On Instagram, right?
22:42Yeah.
22:43What was that, like, 2020?
22:44Is that when you started in December?
22:47It was August.
22:50It was today.
22:51Okay.
22:51Of 2020.
22:52But I don't think the momentum really started kicking up until the wintertime, though.
22:57So you might be right.
22:58Yeah, I think I came on, like, maybe November time or something like that.
23:04Yeah.
23:04So, how are you?
23:06I'm doing good.
23:07I'm doing good.
23:08I can't complain.
23:09I'm studying and working behind the scenes, which can be a little nerve-wracking sometimes.
23:15But, yeah, I'm doing good.
23:17But you have really been rising to the top, man, doing your thing.
23:24Oh, like that Kenny Burke song, Rising to the Top?
23:28Exactly.
23:30But, like that, yep.
23:32Yeah.
23:33Yeah.
23:34How's it in your neck of the woods?
23:39How's the weather?
23:41It's hot right now.
23:45And, you know, this place is full of bugs.
23:49Just, it's a pain in the ass.
23:52But I'll tell you one thing I do like about it.
23:56It's very green.
23:58It's very green here.
24:00And I love trees.
24:02So they just have, you know.
24:09Oh, no.
24:10I think we're losing you.
24:13I think we're losing you.
24:15I think we're losing you.
24:15I think we're losing you everywhere.
24:21Did I come now?
24:22What's that?
24:23Yeah.
24:24I think it's going in and out.
24:26Yeah.
24:26Yeah.
24:27How about now?
24:29Yeah.
24:30I can hear you.
24:31Okay.
24:32Yeah.
24:32This is probably going to be a short conversation.
24:35But if you can hear me.
24:38So I met you back in, I guess, 2020.
24:43And I was in Charlottesville, Virginia.
24:47Then 2023, my son called me and told me that he was getting ready to be a father.
24:55And so I always told him, even as a teenager, I'm going to be the one to raise his child.
25:01So I packed up and move all my shit to Alabama.
25:06And I've been here.
25:07Yeah.
25:08I'm telling everybody I'm in fucking Alabama.
25:11And anyway.
25:16Oh, did you have to bleep that one?
25:18No.
25:22I don't even know why this damn place is on the map.
25:25I keep asking people, why is this place on the map?
25:29I don't get it.
25:30But it's going to be a lot of people who probably hate me for saying that.
25:34But anyway.
25:36Yeah.
25:36So I got my grandson.
25:38He's cute as a button.
25:40He's bad as hell.
25:42In a good way.
25:44Yeah.
25:44Yeah.
25:45And he's very smart.
25:46He's very smart.
25:47When I say smart, I mean, like, you can see the wheels turning in his head.
25:53That kind of smart.
25:54Like, very inquisitive.
25:54Inquisitive.
25:56Yeah.
25:57You know, but still a three-year-old.
25:59You know, we have a great time together.
26:02So basically, that was just my whole thing for, you know, moving here.
26:07Because other than that, if I was on the highway, I'd just keep on driving past.
26:12You know what I'm saying?
26:13But I'm here now.
26:16Well, be careful out there.
26:18Because I don't hear great things about where you're at lately.
26:22That's not good.
26:23Yeah.
26:24Yeah, I know.
26:25Yeah.
26:26You know, and I'm just like, well, I guess, you know, God looks out for fools and babies.
26:30So, I'm doing my thing.
26:33And, you know, he'll be going to school probably next year.
26:38He'll be four.
26:39I told his parents, I'm out of here.
26:41I'm blowing this popsicle stand.
26:44I thought you was going to stay there and raise him.
26:48What do you mean you're out?
26:49Oh, no, no, no, no.
26:50Just until he goes to school.
26:53Oh, okay.
26:54Okay.
26:58School.
27:00Oh, okay, okay.
27:03All right, that makes sense.
27:06And he gets to start pre-school next year.
27:15Daycare centers and all that stuff.
27:17Oh, yeah.
27:18That makes sense.
27:20Yeah, they've had a good life with me being here.
27:23I'm going to take a whole lot of credit, okay?
27:28Yeah, because grandma's been rolling.
27:30He calls me Titi.
27:33He said, hey, Titi.
27:36I was like, hey, boy.
27:39So, anyway, Laren, thanks.
27:43I wanted to say something because you said something that you love greenery, you love trees and stuff, and I
27:51don't know if you can hear me because it's going in and out.
27:53But one memorable moment that I could think of of the 4-on-1 podcast is when you introduced us
28:00to tree boxing.
28:02Oh, we ended up missing her.
28:04She ended up dropping off.
28:05But, yeah, so SOS came up with the term tree boxing.
28:09And I'm going to tell you what that is.
28:10We were talking about people who basically are spying on you.
28:16They might be breaking up with you, trying to break up with you.
28:19We don't know.
28:20But in reality, they still be checking for you.
28:24So, ladies and gentlemen, you ever have anybody out there that you broke up with but you found out that
28:31they were still checking for you?
28:32So, SOS brought the term in tree boxing, and I just wanted to, you know, let her know about that
28:38tree boxing.
28:42SOS, you still there?
28:43Remember you brought the term tree boxing to us?
28:48Oh, I think you're on mute for some reason.
28:53Oh, okay.
28:54All right.
28:54Oh, yeah.
28:55There you go.
28:56Yeah.
28:56Yeah, I'm cracking up.
28:59Yeah, that was one of our most memorable moments.
29:02Tree boxing.
29:04Uh-huh.
29:05Yep.
29:06And I wouldn't be surprised if somebody's tree boxing over the internet trying to find me.
29:12But anyway, that's another story.
29:15I know that's right.
29:17So, I want to bring on somebody so you can talk.
29:23So, I'm going to try to bring this individual on, let's say.
29:26Oh, okay.
29:27Surprise for you.
29:29Birdman, are you there?
29:30Oh, Lord.
29:31Yes, I am.
29:33Yes, I am.
29:34How are you doing, SOS?
29:37Hey, how are you?
29:40I'm all right.
29:41I'm over here cracking up.
29:43You are wild.
29:46I know, I know a lot of people are going to say, what's wrong with Alabama?
29:52There's a whole lot of damn things wrong with Alabama.
29:55Well, hey, you ought to be here in Texas.
29:59You ought to be here in Texas.
30:00I don't even know if I want to trade places.
30:04Oh, God.
30:06So, how are you doing?
30:08All right.
30:09How about yourself?
30:10I'm hanging in there, really.
30:12I'm hanging in there.
30:13I have no complaints.
30:14I always hear you and Laren, you know, on the shows and stuff.
30:20And I listened to your last one about the inheritance and what you would do and what you shouldn't do
30:28and who you should tell.
30:29Well, I was cracking up at y'all.
30:32Girl, man, I told you.
30:33It was so funny.
30:34Didn't I tell you that that was going to be a memorable one?
30:36I told you.
30:37Oh, yeah.
30:38Yeah.
30:38It was funny.
30:39It was funny because I was talking to y'all, of course, you know, this is after the fact.
30:45And I'm like, I ain't telling nobody shit, okay?
30:50What?
30:51You ain't right.
30:54I ain't telling you nothing.
31:01I'm telling the truth, though.
31:03I was telling the truth about that.
31:05Yes, but it was a great show.
31:09It was nice speaking to you.
31:10You too.
31:11I don't know how long y'all are going to stay on, but I want to introduce y'all all
31:16to Antonio.
31:17I'm not sure if you've ever met him before, but he's been on the podcast as well.
31:21So, we're going to bring him in.
31:22Okay.
31:23Hey, what's up?
31:25Hello.
31:27Hey, how you doing?
31:29Great.
31:30How are you?
31:30Nice to meet you.
31:33Yes.
31:34I think, Antonio, you're from Colorado, right?
31:38Yes, sir.
31:40I'm from Colorado.
31:43So, Tanya.
31:45Yes.
31:46Would you like to go to Colorado since you don't like the Alabama heat?
31:51Well, I'm not really into cold either.
31:54I know that's right.
31:55Me either.
31:56What about you, Birdman?
31:57How about Colorado?
31:58No.
32:00No.
32:01I have cousins there, and no, no.
32:06But I will say I'll go for a visit, but I don't know about living there.
32:11Same here.
32:13Same here.
32:14I will go for a visit, but not living because I cannot deal with the cold anymore.
32:20Yeah.
32:21So, Antonio, can you convince us?
32:23What's good about Colorado?
32:26Nature.
32:26We love nature.
32:28Oh, okay.
32:29I say we love to fish.
32:29We love to go out, you know, just hang out.
32:32Oh, you mean?
32:32We go, we like to travel around Colorado, you know what I mean?
32:38But I live in a small town, a small city, but outside our city, there's a lot of nature.
32:43I love to go out.
32:44I love to see in the mountains.
32:46I bet it's a really beautiful.
32:47Now, hey, that's me there with a camera.
32:50That's me there with a camera, yes.
32:54But, Antonio, if I can say, this is Tanya speaking.
32:58I hear nothing but great things about Colorado.
33:01Colorado, I've never heard anything bad about Colorado yet.
33:10Did we lose them?
33:11We might have lost them.
33:12Oh, can y'all still hear me?
33:15Oh, yeah, I can hear you.
33:17Yes, I can.
33:18Yeah.
33:19Yeah.
33:19So, wow, so it was just the three of us?
33:23Yeah.
33:24Remember Jonathan?
33:26Jonathan was in the backstage, and then all of a sudden, I don't know what happened, but he disappeared.
33:31I wanted to speak to Jonathan.
33:32It's been a minute.
33:34I know, because Jonathan was one of the first ones, too, in our group.
33:39And then Queen Dawn Spirit was going to come on tonight, but she has some other obligations to do.
33:46Mr. Nate Perry, I'm waiting for him to show up.
33:49She's doing very well.
33:50Although I haven't seen her in a long time, but she's doing very well.
33:55Nate?
33:55You know, I can't even remember when I first started coming on here,
34:00but I know it's been a while.
34:03I think 22, maybe.
34:06Can you hear me okay?
34:08Yes.
34:09Did I cut out?
34:11No, we can hear you.
34:16And she can't hear us.
34:18But we can hear her.
34:20Yeah, yes, yes.
34:23But Birdman, I think it was 22, 2020.
34:26Okay, yes.
34:27I think I was still in Charlottesville.
34:29Yeah, I hear you.
34:30I think, yeah.
34:32I think I was still in Charlottesville when Birdman started coming on, and I had left in 2023.
34:40Right, yeah.
34:41Because it's funny how Laren and I met.
34:44You know, I thought, I thought, I'm like, oh, this is a scam.
34:47I guess he thought I was a scam.
34:49And then finally, I just said, hey, man, let me, just let me see what's up.
34:55Hey, here we are.
34:57And you know what?
34:58I had somebody.
35:00Laren.
35:02Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
35:03How's she doing?
35:05We talk all the time.
35:07We keep in touch.
35:08She's doing great.
35:08Her son is just adorable, Elijah.
35:12So, you know, we swap pictures and, you know, text each other.
35:17And, you know, she's telling me, you should come out and visit.
35:21I really would like to go visit.
35:23Yeah.
35:24But she seems to be doing good.
35:27Yeah, she listens to the show.
35:29What's going on, Sophie?
35:30How are you doing?
35:31If you out there, if you happen to come across this episode.
35:35But, yeah.
35:35Yeah.
35:36She's probably in La La Land right about now.
35:38I think it's like seven hours ahead.
35:42Yeah.
35:43Yeah.
35:44It's so mystical, too, how this thing comes full circle.
35:48Because I remember there were several times where I was like, all right, I'm just going to quit.
35:53Yeah.
35:55I was like, I'm just going to quit.
35:57And a couple times right before I would go live, I would be like, is this going to be the
36:03last time today?
36:06Really?
36:06Yeah.
36:07I would say, is this going to be the last time?
36:09And then there were some times where I wanted to quit.
36:12And I said to myself, this is going to be the last episode.
36:15And then something mystical would happen.
36:18Somebody would come on and be like, that really resonated with me.
36:21Or somebody would DM me.
36:23Or somebody would text me.
36:24And I would be like, that must be the reason why I need to keep doing it.
36:28Exactly.
36:29And, you know, it's funny you say that because there was times when I'm like, when we first started and
36:36I was like, hmm.
36:38Is he going to quit because I just didn't, I didn't feel, I was like, I'm struggling somewhere.
36:47That's why I sent you that message that time.
36:49I'm struggling.
36:50I'm trying to get better at what the things I say.
36:54Because, like, it was new to me.
36:56I mean, I've been on podcasts before, but not just by myself.
37:03So, I think that was the struggling part.
37:06I had to get used to it.
37:08And there was times when I was like, I'd get ready to say, Laren, I'm gone, man.
37:13But then I'm like, no, I can't quit.
37:16I can't quit.
37:17I said, man, this brother that gave me a chance.
37:20Oh, no.
37:21I said, man, I feel like if I quit on him, then I feel like a failure.
37:26But that's part of the mentorship to come out here and be vulnerable and podcast night after night after night
37:34so that you get comfortable in that craft of what you're doing.
37:37Yeah.
37:38Yes.
37:39Yes.
37:40Repetition, consistency, that's all key.
37:43And when we look at the greatest, when we look at all of these artists that we look up to
37:48and I speak about all these musicians, that's exactly what they have done.
37:53Consistency, repetition.
37:54We only see in the final product.
37:57But we don't see what happened behind the scenes, how many years it took for them to get to, you
38:02know, where they are.
38:04Yeah, that is so true.
38:05Mm-hmm.
38:06Very true.
38:07We look at them and we think, oh, you know.
38:10And some people look at it and they're like, oh, I can go ahead and duplicate the same thing.
38:14And that's when they fail because you have no idea what it took that person to get to, you know,
38:19where they are.
38:20Yeah.
38:21Yeah.
38:21You know, I, I've watched a few interviews with, with like musicians from the 80s.
38:29And they talk about the 80s versus now and how they did things and how they got into the industry.
38:38And they're like, these people today, they don't know what the hell we went through back in the 80s.
38:43You know, it's like, everything's so different.
38:45Mm-hmm.
38:47Yeah.
38:47Yeah, exactly.
38:48I, I've been reading, I've been reading a lot of, I go on Substack.
38:53And I've been reading it, I've been going on a lot of poems and I've been chatting with other writers
39:02now.
39:02And I think that has given me, that's why I said my poetry has changed a lot because it has
39:08given me a lot of insight.
39:11And it's like a whole bunch of them, they said the same thing.
39:14They was like, you know, cause we, they talk about everything on Substack and it's, it's pretty good.
39:20And they talk about music and you'd be surprised at how the struggles that a lot of the musicians went
39:27through.
39:28Mm-hmm.
39:29That's the ones nowadays, they don't go through that.
39:32No.
39:33I mean, I was shocked to know that, you know, that Teddy Pendergrass in the Blue Notes, when they first
39:39started off, they said most of the time they didn't even get paid for a show.
39:44They done traveled somewhere, did a show, and the manager or whoever took off with the money.
39:50Mm-mm.
39:51Absolutely not.
39:52No.
39:53You know, and you hear, you hear stories like that.
39:56And then it makes me think about what's something that happened to me where a lady said, oh, I'm going
40:02to have this open mic.
40:03And I booked a plane flight, rental car, hotel.
40:09I went back to Michigan because it was in my hometown.
40:13Get there and guess what?
40:15The people, the people said, oh, we're not, we, we really ain't even open.
40:20And I'm like, yeah.
40:22Well, and she said, we're doing renovation and then I has a few friends with me and we are, we
40:28showed them the messages that she had been putting on Facebook.
40:32And then one of them said, oh yeah, she's from here.
40:36This is what she do to people.
40:39Oh.
40:40Yeah, yeah, and then when they were doing Zoom, you know, and I signed up for it and she was
40:49with the same people that was going to do the Zoom.
40:53She told them, don't put me on.
40:56And she, I forgot, she told some type of story about it.
41:01So the lady said, you know what?
41:03She said, he's from Benton Harbor.
41:06Oh.
41:07That's right down the road from a, she said, let me find out what's going on.
41:10Cause he'd been gone a long time from Benton Harbor.
41:13She said, and she said, that's what really made her look into it.
41:16And me and her was chatting back and forth.
41:19And I told her what the deal was.
41:21And she said, okay.
41:22And she said, because she said, I know, she said, if they had us, and she had to say, you
41:28came from Benton Harbor.
41:29She said, within the last 10 years, she said, I wouldn't even gave you a chance.
41:35That's crazy.
41:37Yeah.
41:38Yeah.
41:39And then she told me, then she sent me a message.
41:42She said, oh, if you want to get refunded, you talk to the people who had the place for the
41:48open mic.
41:49I'm like, nevermind.
41:51You know what?
41:52Right.
41:53Talk this up as a loss.
41:55You know, that's all I could do.
41:57That's so mystical that you're speaking about that because I think it was a couple years ago, maybe two years
42:03ago.
42:04Somebody wanted me to host a show.
42:06I'm not going to say what kind of show it is because I don't know if they're listening.
42:10But in any case, they wanted me to host this show in California.
42:15And so for me to get on a plane and the book, the hotel and all this other stuff, that's
42:19going to cost some coins.
42:21This individual told me that they would pay me $50.
42:26Say what?
42:28Oh, man.
42:29Say what?
42:30They said that they would pay me $50 to host a show.
42:42I got to laugh at that one.
42:44They would listen to the podcast and watch the podcast.
42:48And that's how they offered it to me and said, yeah, I'll pay you $50.
42:53Wow.
42:55No.
42:56Damn.
42:57You have to know what your worth is.
42:59You know what I'm saying?
43:00And it's a shame that maybe other people don't know what your worth is.
43:02And that's why some of these friendships and relationships don't work.
43:07Exactly.
43:08We talk about that all the time.
43:10But as long as you know what you're worth, that's all that matters.
43:13Oh, yeah.
43:14Absolutely.
43:15And you definitely have the choice to say yes or no.
43:18Right.
43:19Right.
43:19That's your choice.
43:22Yeah.
43:23That's so interesting because I was just thinking about that today.
43:26I was like, remember that time.
43:28Yeah.
43:30Hey, and you know who made that song, don't you?
43:32Oh, yeah.
43:35Oh, SOS.
43:36Did you see the Michael Jackson movie?
43:39I did not.
43:41Oh, you got to see it.
43:42I know.
43:43People have been telling me that.
43:45I don't do anything here.
43:47And I mean, I'm not saying this to get people to feel sorry for me or anything.
43:51I just don't.
43:52I take care of my grandson.
43:53I come home.
43:54And all I can do is just, like, fall asleep because I'm tired, you know?
43:59I know what you mean.
44:01Yeah.
44:02Exactly what you mean.
44:03I have seen it, like, ten times.
44:06What?
44:08I saw it, like, one and a half times.
44:11One and a half.
44:11Yeah, well, see, I have it on, he's on, they're on Starz.
44:16Oh.
44:17Network.
44:17Oh, okay.
44:18So, you know, when there ain't nothing else on, and I see it says Michael, I just pop on that,
44:24you know?
44:24I'm like, skip it, you know?
44:25My favorite part of the movie is when he walks in and he picks the, what is it, the lawyers
44:33or whoever he's going to work with.
44:35Yes.
44:35And he's asked him, what would you like me to do?
44:39And he tells him, and he's like, and do it immediately.
44:44Ooh.
44:46Immediately.
44:47You know what, Jake?
44:48That's the part I like, too, because I'm like, he's sitting there, and the other, if you notice the reactions
44:54to all the other people,
44:55the other ones, it was almost like, they was, like, scared.
44:58Right.
44:59And then the guy said, Mr. Jack, he said, everybody leave the room.
45:04Right.
45:05I think I found, I think I found, not everybody leave the room also, but I think I found my
45:10guy.
45:11Yeah.
45:12Oh.
45:13Yeah.
45:14Yes, he did.
45:15Wow.
45:17Yeah, that movie.
45:19But there's going to be, there's going to be a part two.
45:22Yes, it is.
45:23So it really did well, is what you're saying.
45:26Oh, yeah.
45:27Okay.
45:28Yeah.
45:29I think Spider-Man is one of, it's only, only movie, it might be another one that grows more money
45:38than Michael did on the, you know, that they was talking about.
45:42I took my kids to see it.
45:44I'm like, this is something that we got to watch as a family.
45:46Like, let's check this out, because you know how I feel about music.
45:49So I took the daughters to go see it.
45:53Oh, how are you girls doing?
45:55They're so pretty.
45:56They grown adults now.
45:59They ain't little no more.
46:01They telling you what to do?
46:05Yeah, they think so.
46:08But no, I let them, I let them get away with a lot of stuff.
46:12A lot of things that I wasn't able to get away with.
46:14I'm like, all right.
46:15Yeah.
46:15Okay.
46:16You can have that one.
46:18That's good.
46:19So do they, do they like hanging out with you as a dad?
46:23Yeah, but you know what happens when they start to get older?
46:25They like to hang out with their friends more.
46:28Yes.
46:29Learn that.
46:30And at first, at first I felt a certain way.
46:33I felt the type of way in the beginning.
46:35And then now.
46:36Yeah.
46:37And then don't let them get a little boyfriend, because then now they really, you know what
46:41I'm saying?
46:42So I'll be like, you know what?
46:43Now.
46:45Yeah.
46:46But that's what happens when you have daughters.
46:49I know.
46:50I'm, I'm somebody's daughter.
46:52You know what I mean?
46:53I mean, my dad's dead now, but when I was a teenager and I would, you know, be on the
46:59West coast, live with my mom.
47:01And then I come to DC and live with my dad and, you know, go to school or whatever and
47:07meet a guy.
47:08And then my dad would meet the guy and he's like, I don't, I don't know if I like him.
47:12He look kind of slick.
47:14Right.
47:15And then I'll be saying, well, most of my guys probably don't know.
47:20You probably are a lot like you, dad.
47:22So what does that mean?
47:24You know what I mean?
47:25Like my dad was slick.
47:27He was a slick ass.
47:28You know what I'm saying?
47:30Yeah.
47:30No.
47:31That's funny.
47:32You said that.
47:32Cause my daughter always say, Dan, I want to find a man just like you.
47:37And I'm like, oh Lord, no, you don't.
47:39You know what?
47:41One of my.
47:43No, no, no.
47:45Hey, you know what?
47:46No.
47:47Then she said, should I ask mom about that?
47:50Oh no, please don't ask about that either.
47:53You know, but.
47:54You know what I had to tell her?
47:56And most girls always want to find a man like your dad.
48:01I said, find someone that's like the new version of me.
48:05Find somebody that's like the 2.0 version of me.
48:07Because of the younger version of me used to cuss people out.
48:10You don't want, you don't want that one.
48:13Yeah.
48:14Yeah.
48:14Yeah.
48:15Right.
48:15You don't want that one.
48:17You know?
48:18Oh my goodness.
48:20That is so funny.
48:22Oh Lord.
48:23I got boys.
48:26And we are up against the clock.
48:28We're going to have to get on up out of here.
48:30I thank y'all so much for this.
48:31This was so much fun.
48:33Yes, it was.
48:34It was tree flowing.
48:36It's good to hear your voice.
48:37And so is.
48:39You too.
48:40You too.
48:41Yes.
48:41Yes, sir.
48:44Thank you all so much.
48:45I appreciate y'all.
48:47The replay will be available minutes after we hang up.
48:52So go ahead and check that out.

48:56And again, thank y'all so much.
48:58Could not get to this point without y'all.

49:03Well, congratulations again.
49:05And keep up the good work.
49:06Much love, everyone.
49:07Yeah.
49:08Congratulations, man.
49:11All right.
49:11Take care, y'all.
49:13Yep.
49:13Later.
49:14Bye-bye.
49:15Hey, everybody.
49:15Yep.
49:17All right, ladies and gentlemen, there you have it.
49:20We had some of the friends come through.
49:23Miss SOS has been a minute since I spoke to her.
49:27Birdman 313.
49:29Antonio Trujillo.
49:30We did have Mr. Jonathan Martin Ives.
49:34I don't know.
49:35I guess he got cold feet.
49:36But I'll reach out to him later and see what's going on with him.
49:40But thank you all so much for joining.
49:42I appreciate y'all.
49:52I feel that I have, I guess, I'm able to sit in this seat.
49:58That's a great way to say it.
49:59I'm able to sit in this seat because when I first started, I didn't know what I was doing.
50:03And I was just out here doing it.
50:06And it was just God who gave me everything that I had.
50:09Like I said, there were several times where I was like, all right, we're going to quit.
50:12We're not doing this.
50:13We're not doing this.
50:13You know, I was worried about how many people was watching and the likes and the views and all of
50:19this other stuff.
50:19I was just so coming from a different place.
50:24And now I came to a point where I was just like, well, if you don't watch it, I'm all
50:28right with it.
50:29If you do watch it, I'm okay with it.
50:31If you do subscribe or whatever, I'm all right with it.
50:35And a minute that I backed up, and this is for each and every one of you out there doing
50:39something.
50:40A minute that you back up and just let God handle it.
50:42Trust and believe things come into place.
50:45Things come out of nowhere.
50:46Where I don't have to fight for anything that's mine.
50:50And I feel like I have arrived.
50:53Not arrived, but I feel like I'm able to sit in this seat now.
50:57Through all that I have done, I felt that I am able to actually sit here and just do what
51:02I'm supposed to do.
51:04So on that note, again, thank you all so much.
51:06Take care.
51:07I will see you when I see you.
51:10Y'all have a good night.
51:11Talk to you soon.
51:13Take care.
51:25Take care.
51:56Take care.
52:24I will see you soon.
52:26Take care.
52:34Take care.
