00:06The countdown to National Day is well underway.
00:09At Dataran Putrajaya on Saturday, the excitement was already building.
00:14Music, colour and the rhythmic sound of marching commands filled the field
00:18as thousands of participants gathered for the full-dress rehearsal,
00:22putting the finishing touches to their routines ahead of the big day.
00:26So, we are all playing our Indian traditional instruments,
00:29which is like Urmi, Tavil and Pambay.
00:36Actually, we are really feeling very proud that we are participating in front of our honourable and everyone.
00:42We are very stressed and nervous because it's our first time in front of everyone,
00:47like people from Malaysia, all around Malaysia.
00:51And actually, it was kind of exciting as well because, you know students,
00:57so we are very proud and nervous at the same time.
01:02It took us like, I think a month to practice, from July, the end of July.
01:09And then we practiced a third a week.
01:14From 13 years old until now, I'm 23, it's been 10 years already.
01:18So, I think it's not as nervous as my first time already.
01:23I think still, but still nervous a little bit.
01:26Because I think it's a very big event for me.
01:32While performers fine-tuned their routines on the field,
01:35spectators were also getting a first glimpse of what awaits on the big day.
01:39For some families, the rehearsal was more than just a preview.
01:43It was a chance to introduce the sights and sounds of National Day to the younger generation.
02:04In just a few days, these grounds will be filled with thousands of Malaysians
02:07as the nation comes together once again to celebrate its 69th National Day on August 31st.
