00:00I'm going to turn to you for the question of why are you keeping four quarterbacks dumb it down
00:05all kinds of people driving around in their car around Atlanta on a Monday morning maybe they've
00:10been busy didn't know the Falcons didn't just keep three some thought maybe two possibly
00:14definitely two maybe three they kept four why I well first of all let me just throw out I was
00:20just as surprised as everybody else I didn't foresee them keeping four because I don't know
00:24that necessarily Cooper Rush had separated himself from anything that Tua had done or that Jack
00:29stranded on I thought he would be the casualty here I thought you'd try to sneak Cooper Rush
00:33into the P squad spot but evidently they thought there was enough sniffing around that Cooper Rush
00:38needed to be a part of this initial and kind of you couldn't clear waivers in week one so
00:42I don't necessarily think it's done I think that by week two gets here and this looks completely
00:46different but nonetheless I think that's the thought process at least I would totally agree
00:51with your thought process Mike I think the reason why the Falcons kept four quarterbacks at this
00:56juncture is because there were some reports over the weekend that teams have reportedly called the
01:01Falcons about Tua Tungvaluwa Cooper Rush he's got a lot of game tape out there hey could he have some
01:06value even a guy like Jack Strand now is he going to command any you know low round draft picks
01:12probably
01:13not however there are going to be opportunities that pop up for this front office these rosters are
01:20fluid up until this upcoming Friday essentially to where maybe they're able to get some value
01:25one way or another by offloading one of these quarterbacks that they still have on the roster
01:29I'd be shocked if there's any value coming back and and I just we'll talk about the game the other
01:34night that Mike covered obviously but um I don't know could you worried about Cooper Rush you know
01:42going and no I don't think no you're not worried but you're keeping him in the hopes that maybe a
01:47team
01:47gets so desperate that they call you and say they're not Cooper Rush and what are they going
01:51to give you a seven okay that's better than just letting him go and losing him off waivers you listen
01:56Jack Strand they they sign they draft and they sign they don't you know coaches that's value right
02:01there a seventh for Cooper Rush if they want to do that that's value you win I think you'd make
02:05a
02:05trade right now 100% I don't think but I don't know they're not they're not my thing with the
02:10Cooper Rush because we've talked so much about Tua and his preseason preseason performance
02:14Cooper Rush has not like he's he played against Indy and that made him look better he go back and
02:19look at what he did against Denver he looked terrible yeah he was like seven of 20 it was awful
02:24we are
02:24playing a different game than the rest of the NFL I agree with that we are we are we are
02:30piddling around
02:31with a bunch of guys that nobody in the league would want starting for them out of 31 teams
02:38there are maybe 28 that would even look at these four guys to start certainly the first two and
02:45maybe 26 and the others are like well we'll give Penix a shot that's what they'd say they certainly
02:52would they certainly would not want to a tongue of any team that trots out to a tongue of a
02:58lower
02:58as their starting quarterback on opening day the biggest day of 2026 is not serious about having a
03:06serious season in football do you not because you're you you always approach this from an odd
03:10standpoint I'm curious to get y'all's opinion on this do you not think there will be at least two
03:14starters for this team this year oh my god absolutely I mean the quarterback yes the money I think the
03:20question but that's but that's that's kind of what I'm saying where you're like anybody who trots out
03:24to her for week one I'm not as deep into it as you like I still think they could trot
03:28out to her
03:29for week one because at some point you're gonna make a switch anyways so even who even cares at that
03:34point what are you waiting for so back to both of you you played in the NFL and I keep
03:39hearing how
03:40do you put him out there in week one he hasn't had a thrown a ball since you know however
03:45many 10
03:45months might and throw in game how is that any different than the two previous coaches where you
03:52don't play one snap in preseason he has two full weeks of practice what's the difference I don't know
03:57so if he had had two series against a dolphin team that was a one of the worst in the
04:05league and
04:05were playing some of their starters that would make him more ready the difference is that he
04:11himself said he hasn't had enough reps to play he said nah I don't want the difference is is that
04:16the last couple of training camps they had all the reps they needed yeah 11 on 11 and I would
04:21have
04:21made the argument before he said that because we've all been out there I would have told you 10 times
04:26out of 10 he's had a ton I would have made the argument last week he's thrown more balls at
04:29camp than two has but yet he's like not three that's not enough I was I was as shocked by
04:36that
04:36anything I was like what you've been doing everything you want to hear it's great like so that to me
04:41is
04:41the biggest difference like if you're gonna say that going to the final preseason game that's the
04:46difference from the last couple of years you know hard knocks gives you a lot of behind the scenes
04:51but it's it's uh homogenized I guess it is it's you know they they heavily edited sure yeah
04:57the conversations that mean something to me are Ian Cunningham and Kevin Stefanski and Matt Ryan
05:04the three of them in a room yes really saying which we do not know I don't have a source
05:10those three
05:11guys aren't talking to me about that like bro let's be honest you know that hey did that bother you
05:17watching uh uh Michael say that and somebody's rolling their eyes somebody else goes what do
05:22you think about Tua and he's like dude this Tua thing like we know we gotta bother you I can
05:26100% guarantee you that it bothered Kevin Stefanski Matt Ryan and Ian Cunningham I'll tell you right now
05:32again my opinion and my opinion only it bothered Matt Ryan the most the quarterback in the room
05:39I'd be hard pressed as a leader of this team so what is Michael Pennix Jr you have to know
05:44what you
05:44can say and what you cannot say what I'm not asking you to lie just don't say that don't say
05:50that do we all agree the only you're not instilling confidence in your teammates you're not instilling
05:55confidence in your coaching staff you're not instilling confidence in the fan base don't say
06:00that don't say I don't know I'm not ready now um yeah can't do it so if you had to
06:06bet once again
06:07because that's how I make people get real serious about it um I'm gonna show up at 101 p.m
06:14I have
06:14500 I'm out in a car and I'm driving around Atlanta and whoever gets this right I'm gonna drive to
06:21your
06:21house knock on the door and hand you five 100 bills who's starting on Sunday in Pittsburgh call
06:26me Gilligan because I've been out on the island the whole time I still think it's Tua I still think
06:31it's Tua has there been has there been hiccups sure can we point to the fumbled snaps yes I don't
06:36think
06:37that's gonna how are you getting me to give you 500 on Monday on Sunday sorry would you not say
06:43that knowing T.J. Watts over there against Jawan Taylor yeah good point I mean the defense you
06:48have like okay he hasn't thrown it far through the air guess what he's not gonna get a chance to
06:52against okay we're good hey I'll be uh I'll be Jekyll and Hyde there you want Tua back there because
06:57he's got the most experience when T.J. Watts gonna be absolutely dominating reportedly you know your right
07:03tackle why not put just just put Jack Strand in there he's 6'4", 240 he can
07:07take a hit he can make a move my point being is that he's Tua's gonna know where to throw
07:10the ball
07:11I think that would be your he's your fourth yeah that would be your hiccup with Jack Strand I'm
07:14going to your house at 101 who I hand you the money look we still got what is starting no
07:20that's it
07:20you're getting today Michael Penix Jr. Michael Penix yeah okay uh let me ask about the rest of the
07:25uh roster is it a big is it a big deal not to have two running backs I mean don't
07:29we have two
07:29running backs no because what you're gonna do is Tyler Goodson's gonna be on the practice squad or
07:34whoever else and and you're gonna say hey he's a standard Sunday elevation and it's just gonna be
07:38at that my question will be are they looking on other waiver wires to add a running back that's
07:42my biggest question you talk about the 2d linemen that they've brought in in the last 10 days yeah
07:47uh well what Javon Dexter the guy they just traded to here's the question for me as far as Dexter
07:53goes
07:53I was kind of shocked they gave up a draft pick to go along with Clark Phillips and Cunningham and
07:59said
07:59they value draft picks now this is the second time this season this offseason that you've given up
08:05a draft pick now the first one you traded for Wanya Morris that one is no longer Wanya Morris got
08:09cut
08:10all right so that draft pick you traded for somebody you just cut now you traded another draft pick
08:14along with Clark Phillips to a guy who has been mixed reviews up in Chicago at this point and not
08:20really known as a run stuffer so just the fact that you sent a draft pick now I'm like man
08:24this guy
08:25better be good uh he better be good so they had an overload obviously at that position in Chicago
08:29he has flash that he can get to the quarterback big big body got a little wiggle to him yeah
08:35and
08:35that's the thing what you just said big big body we in our show go along with us with the
08:40Aston Smith
08:40they're they're they're big dudes they're both big big bodies and that's obviously what Ian
08:45Cunningham has liked you keep LaCale London and you let David Onyemata and some of the other smaller
08:51style defensive linemen go you're you you're looking for big big dudes that have a little
08:56bit of wiggle up front right now so are we upgraded obviously since when we started camp with with the
09:03guys that we brought in there at that position no doubt no doubt well and and I was I was
09:07not
09:08real high on Mason Smith when traded him for Rook uh but Mason Smith has been maybe one of your
09:13best
09:14defenders when you look at what he did up in Indianapolis and those crossover practices and what
09:18he's meant to this defense he's a completely different body than we've had here in a long
09:21time we he's completely different and this kind of fits along those lines what are your thoughts on
09:26the wide receiver room as it stands now obviously I feel like they got a pretty good variety of
09:31playmakers led by none other than Drake London Zachariah Branch by all reports had a really good
09:36camp being able to flash as a gadget type guy Jahan Dotson are we looking for like a resurrection of
09:42his
09:42career maybe an upgrade or a step up of what he's been able to do since his time in the
09:46league and then
09:46obviously Olamide Zaccheaus is back I got one key word for this wide receiver room it's accelerate
09:51and over the last few years we have had nobody that can accelerate why did Bajon have so many
09:56receiving yards last couple years because he can accelerate he's the only guy and what they did is
10:00they brought in guys that could accelerate Olamide Zaccheaus could also block what you saw on the
10:04Kyle Pitts screen on Friday night Drake London too taking on a blocker so y'all have both heard it
10:09and
10:10I've said it a number of times a wide receiver room is supposed to look like you're starting five in
10:13basketball Zachariah Branch can run the point all right Drake I guess would be probably your center
10:18power forward uh you can actually say Kyle Pitts is probably your center and Jahan Dotson that
10:22Drake plays the four need a laminated and Dotson plays the three Dotson play the three and that's
10:28what it's never heard that I like that what's supposed to look like man we have we have had
10:31just a team full of centers
10:33just a team full of centers
