00:00I mean are y'all with me in saying like I don't even care at this point like I don't
00:04I don't even
00:04want to break down like the process that led to this I'm just so excited to see him back on
00:08the
00:08field I like yes but it's it's impossible right now in this environment to do that because everyone
00:16has made their opinion on what they think and people are so vocal about what they think happened
00:22in this situation and wanting to be right or wrong or you know put labels on it that it's it's
00:30it's
00:31it's not I don't even know if it's ever it will if it'll go away after he plays Thursday what
00:37if
00:38he comes out he plays Thursday well that's what I'm about to say what if he comes out Thursday
00:41and plays absolutely like just lights out then it goes away no it doesn't because people are
00:48gonna be like see if he'd have played Sunday would be two and one probably or if he'd have played
00:53it
00:53and then other people if he are gonna be like hey he waited at the right time like there's always
00:58gonna be conversation around that the only way I feel like it does go away is is and I don't
01:04even
01:05know if it will because imagine if we go on if this team was able to go on a little
01:08bit of a run
01:09and he missed the playoffs by one game somebody is gonna say man they just if he came back one
01:17game
01:17earlier so it's unfortunate but I do think that Allie that you're right in the fact that if if he
01:23does start to play well that and there's not a lot of rust some people and hopefully it will be
01:29a
01:29mindset of a lot that hey they did it right they waited he waited until he felt he was right
01:34he got
01:35as many reps as he could he almost got like a full because now if you look at it I
01:39know that you're
01:400-2 but with the time frame he's got it's like he went through a full training camp with 11s
01:45because he's been cleared for over a month which is kind of the the way it would be I I
01:50know you
01:50say it's an impossibility but I'm gonna try to make it a possibility like I I don't the the storyline
01:57of when he was healthy or when he should have been healthy it's really neither here nor there when
02:03you look at what's important and we've talked about it all along it's important to figure out
02:08what Michael Penix is it's important to figure out who's going to be the quarterback for the
02:12Atlanta Falcons not just this year but next year I have felt all along you would see three eras of
02:17quarterback this season right so I'm hoping that I'm wrong about that and I'm hoping you don't go
02:22through 10 games with Michael Penix and have to turn the keys over to somebody else but I don't know
02:27but the point being is that like at this point nothing else matters than what the product is on
02:31the field tomorrow and they better be prepared for that and he better be ready to go for that moment
02:36and if not that window gets a little bit smaller that needle that he's trying to thread
02:40get smaller yeah that's the only issue for me is he has less games to prove he is the guy
02:44maybe you could be right and get what we want at the same time maybe we've seen the three eras
02:49we saw a game and a half of the Cooper Rush era we saw a half of the Jack Strand
02:55in 2026 era
02:57and then we saw the Penix era and that would be phenomenal that would be best case for every one
03:03of us
03:03and and those guys up there because I they they they need a win and if you look at Green
03:10Bay
03:13you can't give me a reason why we shouldn't go up there and be competing for one late in that
03:19game
03:19you can't you can't there's not there's nothing at Green Bay that makes me go oh god we're in trouble
03:24not right now not two weeks into the season they have a patchwork offensive line
03:30their their defense is is has been atrocious in the red area missing their best player
03:34yeah go tell me why Michael Penix can't come there and make a debut and we can't go come
03:40we can't be sitting here on Friday morning being happy I agree he could and the fan base would be
03:45thrilled about that I do want to take up for the fan base a little bit though because this is
03:48a
03:48situation that just hasn't happened before so yeah all the outcry of wanting answers and timelines
03:53receipts it's understandable they haven't seen anything like this before and just want to
03:59understand what the process has been because the communication has been murky yeah and I agree
04:05with that but the problem that the thing I can't agree with not that you just said this but I've
04:10heard others say it is that well see they didn't have a plan and I blame them yeah the hell
04:15they did
04:16have a plan they had a plan for for two if he wasn't ready um and two even had a
04:24chance to win
04:24the job but but but they felt good enough and I agree with them that if Penix wasn't ready to
04:31have
04:31been the guy and that's how it was playing out and then it didn't happen and you just in this
04:38league
04:38we've seen time and time again going into a game with a third string quarterback no one has a plan
04:44for that that's not anyone's plan and you don't plan for two guys to not play at the quarterback
04:50position and have to go to that I I don't mind that people have questions I really don't it's
04:55just not what I want my focus to be on right now because in the end like I said it
04:59doesn't matter
05:00it really doesn't it with whatever he felt or did fit and Bo's right like we we could get to
05:06a point
05:06later on this season where you're going to look back and go man that's but I would genuinely feel
05:10like the overall thought process of this fan base if if we're even close to a playoff berth
05:15is that Michael Penix is the guy moving forward and maybe we can get back to championship contention
05:21faster because he's a guy now you can invest next year's first round pick and another position now
05:26you can kind of fast forward on everything so it should maybe maybe it's a personality trait of mine
05:31I don't know but I just in this specific situation I find myself wanting to be forward facing because
05:36we haven't had any good news please for the love give us some good news tomorrow night when you take
05:42the field up in Lambeau give something I mean a red area trip something for us to be excited about
05:49in terms of the way this offense should be playing football we we're going to the red zone it's
05:53happening I'm confident I'm glad you're confident I'm glad you are confident I'm gonna tell you
06:01something a little inside baseball here the red area is sponsored shout out to Mercedes Benz and so
06:07it's hard to find a way to get their sponsorship in if we must be talking about the Mercedes Benz
06:10drive
06:11zone drive zone what did I say post game I don't know but yeah we need and it's a lot
06:16easier in my
06:16job I don't if I don't have to make up a way to get that read in so uh yeah
06:21be nice yeah don't do
06:23it and you know what I'll do it for you it's always about me I'm sorry sorry Bo they haven't
06:29gone to
06:30the red area made your day real tough oh no made how do you get creative me and Wes are
06:36getting
06:36creative over here well as far as the offense I know we've been wondering how much was different
06:42based on the different guys that were starting at quarterback or that were in the quarterback spot
06:46well with Michael Penix in now Tommy Reese spoke with the media yesterday also and he got into how
06:52they can do a lot offensively because of his skills yeah I mean like Mike makes some throws now
06:57where you're like there's not a ton of guys out there that have that arm talent um you see it
07:02on
07:02film like when we first got here you saw it on film um yeah there's moments in practice dating back
07:07to
07:08the spring where you see the talent and you see the upside and um you know I think when Coop
07:12first got
07:13here he's like when he first started repping he's like oh there's the first round pick like you can
07:16just feel it when he's out there you know and so um the great thing about Mike is how humble
07:21he is and
07:22how great of a person he is and like speaks volumes to to the guy he is and the way
07:26he's put in the
07:27work to get ready to go and um again like we just want to pour everything in to help him
07:31showcase all
07:31that talent you're talking about I think can we take the all the injury stuff surrounding Mike and
07:37just throw it out for a second it what Tommy Reese has said is why I get frustrated when people
07:43are
07:44like I've seen enough I know he's not the guy no you haven't because you look at Michael Penix and
07:51he can he can make special throws and I say special because not a lot of guys can throw them
07:57like Tommy Reese has said he can't not a lot of guys can make those throws he can make all
08:01of those
08:04there's a growth period for a young quarterback that I know Mike can speak on more than me
08:09that you have to go through and when he gets there you work through it lots of quarterbacks come out
08:15of
08:15college football and have had improper not improper but imperfect um you know footwork
08:23because they've been able to rely on athletic ability that they that they could do that in
08:27college and that you can't get away with that in the pros because of the athletic ability of the
08:30other guys or the the intelligence football IQ of the other guys that's why when you say I've seen
08:36enough of him no you no we have not seen enough of him on the field let him mature let
08:40him grow let
08:41him work with guys like Alex Van Pelt and Tommy Reese with those with those things that he's needed to
08:46work on and he needed to work on last year and then see him another year into an NFL offense
08:51and
08:51reading NFL defenses and watching film and being healthy and see what we get then it is worth mentioning
08:58to to your point like we haven't even had a chance to talk about his drops from under center
09:05you know what I mean like that like if you if you'd have just gone through training camp and had
09:09not
09:10missed the first two games that would be focal point number one about whether or not he's in the
09:14pistol or taking drops from under center and it really hasn't even been a conversation because
09:18they're so worried about you know what the offense is supposed to look like and I'm with Bo like
09:21I do want to see I want to see the small things like it you know are his feet going
09:28to sleep when
09:28he's making his throws much like he did on a couple of the pick sixes he threw last year is
09:33there
09:33signs of development under this coaching staff because I think we talk about development in terms of NFL
09:39quarterbacks and the trajectory of like year one to year two to year three to year four
09:43but you guys know me and I will hyper focus on whether or not because if you don't continue to
09:48get reminded of some of the things then they start to fall off there is development in the other
09:52direction right and so I think that I think that looking what this coaching staff tried to do with
09:57his footwork and some of the things we feel like he was lacking over the last couple of years
10:01that will be a focal point when we get in game it's just not a topic of conversation because we've
10:07spent so
10:07much time talking about his health and the plan and the backups and everything else that comes along
10:11with it yeah that's why I'm so excited for tomorrow night I'm excited to see we've anticipated this for
10:17a long time for quite a quite a while it's been the focus of the offseason in a lot of
10:22ways I'm
10:23excited to see what it looks like out there prime time and and and Michael has played in a couple
10:28prime time games in his career here and he and I felt like he stepped up in those games
10:31games
