00:27¡Gracias!
00:32Wow, there we are.
00:35We've got a proud Michigan auto worker over here to the left.
00:39Look, we're here today to talk about everything that we need to do to save Michigan auto workers,
00:50to fight for Michiganders all over this state,
00:53to get Mike Rogers elected to the United States Senate,
01:00but please, before I get started, have a seat, ladies and gentlemen.
01:03I've got a few thank yous here before we get into the meat of our remarks.
01:07I've got to, first of all, thank our incredible Secretary of the Transportation, Sean Duffy.
01:13Give it up for Sean.
01:20We're lucky to have him. He's an amazing guy.
01:22He has got an absolute firecracker of a wife, who is the toughest woman I think I've ever seen on
01:28television.
01:29You never. Rachel Campos Duffy.
01:33She gave a great interview to Usha over the weekend, and Usha said,
01:38you know what, unlike most reporters, she actually asked me really smart questions.
01:41So the best compliment we can get for Rachel and Sean, we have got, and you talk about big upgrades.
01:47I like to think I'm a pretty big upgrade over Kamala Harris.
01:54Good answer.
01:56But I think maybe we've got the very best upgrade at the Department of Transportation.
02:00We used to have Pete Buttigieg, and now we have Sean Duffy.
02:11So we sent Pete to the curb, and now Sean is doing an amazing job.
02:14He's keeping our roads safe and getting Americans on the move.
02:18I've also got to give a big shout-out to my amazing co-chair of the Anti-Fraud Task Force,
02:24my very good friend, Andrew Ferguson.
02:27Andrew is doing a great job.
02:34Now, Andrew told me that he had never actually given up a speech at a political rally like this,
02:39and he said there was a little bit of a kind of a Ricky Bobby and Talladega Nights things.
02:43He wasn't totally sure what to do with his hands.
02:47And I said, Andrew, just make it natural, man.
02:49Somebody on Fox News told me that he's one of the highest-rated guests that they have on Fox News.
02:55You know why? Because people hate fraud, and they love that Andrew Ferguson is kicking the fraudsters to the curb
03:01and sending them to prison.
03:03So thank you, Andrew, for everything that you're doing.
03:10I've got a lot of people to shout-out here.
03:11I want to shout-out Michael Warren, who will make a fantastic judge on the Michigan Supreme Court.
03:16Michael, I've got to give a great shout-out to Lisa McClain,
03:24who's one of the great warriors that we have in Congress.
03:27We love you, Lisa.
03:31Without Lisa, we would not have no taxes on tips.
03:34We would not have no tax on overtime.
03:36We would not have no taxes on Social Security.
03:39And the same, of course, goes for your incredible congressman
03:43and the next governor of the state of Michigan, John James.
03:54And second to last, but certainly not least,
03:57you've got an amazing guy running for Congress right here in this district,
04:03Michael Brouchard.
04:05Michael, stand up, please.
04:13Now, I didn't know this until today, actually.
04:16Michael actually earned a bronze star
04:18for serving this country with dignity
04:20and serving this country with bravery, fighting ISIS.
04:30And he's going to bring that legacy of courage and leadership
04:33when he fights for you in the United States Congress
04:36starting this November.
04:43And finally, finally, finally, I've got to give a shout-out to a guy
04:47who is not just a great Senate candidate
04:50and will not just make a great senator for the state of Michigan,
04:54but is just a good human being who loves this country
04:57and has served this country for decades.
05:00And that's my good friend Mike Rogers.
05:02Mike, thank you, man.
05:12Now, we're here today for a very, very important announcement,
05:16and you all heard some of it early.
05:18For too long, under the last administration,
05:22the Biden administration allowed American workers
05:26and American drivers to be endangered
05:29and to have their jobs stolen by foreign fraudsters.
05:36Today is about restoring the basic principle
05:40that if you want to drive a big truck on America's roads,
05:46you ought to be able to speak English,
05:48you ought to be a legal resident of the United States of America,
05:51and you ought to have basic qualifications
05:53because trucking is too important to let it go to foreign fraudsters.
05:57It belongs to Michiganders right here in this state.
06:07Now, we all know we have our truckers to thank
06:09for keeping our shelves stocked.
06:12We have our truckers to thank
06:13for keeping gasoline at the pump.
06:16We care about America's truckers
06:18because for generations,
06:20they have represented something much greater,
06:22the very best of this state's,
06:25the very best of this country's character,
06:27people who spend long hours away from their families,
06:30people who work their fingers to the bone
06:33so that your kids and my kids
06:35get the things that they need every single day.
06:39You know, in some ways, truckers are the modern cowboys.
06:42150 years ago, you had to drive cattle
06:44from Wyoming to California to deliver for the slaughter,
06:49but it's the truckers now
06:50who get our goods to market every single day.
06:54And they did it during COVID.
06:56They did it when nobody was really supporting them.
06:59They do it sometimes for very long hours,
07:02and they do it sometimes for very little pay,
07:05but they do it because it has to be done.
07:08And for the entire time that I've been alive,
07:1141 years, 42 years, that's the problem.
07:13You get a little older, you forget how old you are.
07:1742.
07:19I'm doing the math in my head.
07:23And here's the thing.
07:25The truckers have been the ones
07:27who have kept this country running.
07:29And I've known so many truckers throughout my life.
07:32Thank you.
07:39And what's amazing is that they just show up.
07:41They don't complain.
07:42They go to work,
07:43and they get it done for the American people every single day.
07:45I want to give a special shout-out
07:47to a particular trucking badass,
07:50a guy by the name of Monty Wiederhold.
07:54Monty, where are you?
08:03Now, I made y'all clap for him
08:04before I told you that he's actually from my home state of Ohio.
08:11He's been involved in trucking, I believe, for a half of a century,
08:15and has been a small fleet owner for more than three decades.
08:20Now, Monty grew up hearing stories about the industry
08:22from his dad and his trucker buddies,
08:24who were heroes to him when he was a little boy.
08:27And he's seen the industry change dramatically in his own lifetime.
08:31And he's also seen how the Trump administration
08:34has worked nonstop to save it for qualified American drivers.
08:38Is that fair, Monty?
08:40Here we go.
08:45Now, Monty decided to take a day off work today
08:47and drove four hours just to join us here today
08:50because he knows that our efforts
08:53to combat fraud,
08:55our efforts to save trucking for American workers
08:58are going to make the streets safer,
09:01and it's going to ensure that the next generation
09:03of American Monty's can still drive a truck
09:06and still do the job that needs to be done.
09:15And I want to just talk about the fraud and give some proper context to it
09:20because under the last administration, under Joe Biden's leadership,
09:23it feels like forever ago,
09:25but remember, it was only 18 short months ago
09:28that Joe Biden would let anybody on the road.
09:31His secretary of transportation actually made it harder
09:34for state governments to enforce the rules
09:37to ensure that if you were driving a big truck on America's roads,
09:42you had to actually read and write and understand the English language.
09:48Now, I don't know about you, but with my kids driving around,
09:52I don't want a person who can't even read the road signs
09:55to have a CDL in the United States of America.
09:59It's basic.

19:49Gracias.
19:51Gracias.
20:00Gracias.
20:04Gracias.
20:13Gracias.
20:25Gracias.
20:44And let me say just a couple of more things.
20:47You know, what you have in Mike is not just a guy who's a good man, who's going to fight
20:51for this country.
20:52You have a guy who's going to fight to make your life better.
20:57Every single day.
20:58I looked up a statistic and this pains me to say as a Buckeye because I know you all how
21:04you
21:04all feel about Ohio State.
21:09But I heard you say go blue.
21:11I heard it.
21:13Here's the thing.
21:15As much as it may hurt me to say this, I know that the University of Michigan is one of
21:19the finest educational establishments anywhere in the world, right here in Michigan.
21:23Again, you have no idea how much my staff had to give me to drink before I was willing to
21:30come on stage and say that.
21:32But here's the thing.
21:34I looked up a statistic that less than a half of the people who go to the University of Michigan
21:39are actually from the state of Michigan.
21:43That is a scandal.
21:45If you're the mother of a child who's applied to the University of Michigan and you know that
21:51his SAT score or her SAT score was 200 points higher than the foreign national who got in above
21:57them, Mike Rogers is going to fight for you, not Abdul El-Sayed.
22:09If you're angry that people have neglected Michigan autoworkers, politicians have neglected Michigan
22:16autoworkers for 40 years, then stand with the guy who's going to fight for Michigan autoworkers,
22:22stand with Mike Rogers.
22:30Who has been the candidate who's been out there, not just in this election but in his time in
22:35public service in the last election as well, who's been out there saying we do not want
22:40hundreds of thousands of foreign automobiles in the United States of America.
22:45We want hundreds of thousands of additional Michigan automobiles made by Michigan workers.
22:50That's Mike Rogers.
22:57And on every issue, this is a guy who has fought for you.
23:02He's fought against the people who want to import cheap labor and import cheap automobiles.
23:07He's fought for you and for your kids to get a good education in this state.
23:11He's fought for America's national security.
23:14And every time Abdul El-Sayed has had an opportunity to fight for you, he's actually taken the opportunity
23:20to fight for someone else.
23:22Let me just give you a very concrete example.
23:24Again, we're here to talk about protecting Michigan truck drivers, but also protecting the safety of
23:29every single person who drives on the road with a semi truck, which is all of us.
23:33Here's the crazy thing.
23:35Just a few years ago, Abdul El-Sayed said that we need to make sure that a legal
23:41aliens have driver's license in this country.
23:46He would love to undercut the wages of American truckers.
23:49He'd love to give their jobs to illegal aliens, and he'd love to make the streets less safe
23:54again.
23:54Not because I think that he's ever thought seriously about this, but if you look at his politics,
23:59if you look at his policy, it is all about saying this group of people is good, this ethnicity
24:06is bad, and I'm going to fight to give from the bad group of people to the good group of
24:12people.
24:12And I think that's a despicable way to think about your fellow Americans.
24:16And so, while Mike and I don't agree on every issue, we agree on most issues, I think.
24:21I stand here with a message from the President of the United States, from Mike Rogers, from
24:26every Republican in this room.
24:29In this party, and in this election, we are running people who love and fight for and defend
24:35all Americans.
24:37We don't care who you are.
24:38So long as you belong in this country, we're going to fight for you.
24:48Now, the last thing I'll say about Abdul, Mr. El-Sayed, is he has a weird habit of talking
24:56about my family.
24:57Have you noticed this?
25:00You know, look, I don't know who his wife is.
25:05I'm sure she's a lovely person.
25:06But I would never come to this state and disrespect you or disrespect somebody's family by talking
25:14about another person's wife, a person who isn't on the ballot.
25:18And yet, Abdul El-Sayed, every time they put a microphone in front of his face, he wants
25:22to talk about my wife or my grandfather.
25:28You know, my message to Abdul El-Sayed, and I'm feeling especially protective, of course,
25:33because we have a five-week-old baby at home, and the second lady is doing great and taking
25:38great care of him.
25:45My message to Abdul El-Sayed is you can pal around with terrorist sympathizers, and you
25:50can say that America deserved 9-11, or you can empathize not with the children who were
25:54targeted at Temple Israel, but with the attacker.
25:57These are all despicable things, but they're all things that the people of Michigan will
26:04judge you on based on your record.
26:06But I actually think that the people of Michigan think it's kind of weird when you talk about
26:11another guy's wife.
26:12I think the people of Michigan would like you to talk about the public policy ideas you
26:16have to make their ideas better.
26:22I think the people of Michigan would like you to talk about how you're going to protect
26:25auto workers when you're supporting every single policy that has undercut the wages and
26:31jobs of Michigan auto workers your entire life in public service.
26:39But whatever you want to talk about Abdul, keep my wife's name the hell out of your mouth
26:43because she's way out of your league.
26:56And my last and closing thought to the great people of this state, and of course the great
27:01people in this audience, is whether it's talking about a guy's wife, or whether it's talking
27:07about the sympathy that he has with the attackers at Temple Israel, or whether it's talking
27:13about palling around with a guy who says that America may have deserved 9-11.
27:18This is such an amazing state.
27:20Again, I'm a Buckeye.
27:21It's hard for me to say that.
27:23It's got beautiful people, the proudest tradition of craftsmanship in the auto industry that exists
27:28anywhere in the world.
27:30I'm not asking you to agree with every single policy that's in the Republican Party platform.
27:36I'm not asking you to check your free thought and your opinions at the door.
27:41In fact, we welcome them.
27:43We're a big tip party.
27:44We welcome people with differences of opinions and differences of backgrounds.
27:48But what I am asking you is to remember that the same guy who defends literal terrorism
27:55is maybe not going to have your best interest at heart when he gets to Washington, D.C.
28:00What I'd ask you to remember is that whoever you send to Washington, whatever policy views
28:06you have or you don't have, send people of good heart who focus on the right issues, who
28:13fight for the right people, and who love the United States of America.
28:36So I'm asking you to send the crazy people to the curb, send a message to the elected leadership
28:43of the Democrat Party, that if you want us to vote for you, you've got to stop sending
28:47us crazy people to represent your party.
28:50And help us elect some common sense, some principle.
28:54Help us elect Michael Bouchard and Mike Rogers.
28:57Keep fighting for this state.
28:59Keep fighting for this country.
29:00God love you, everybody, and thank you for having me.
