The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta is entering its final stretch, and Day 3 brought more than just a list of bug fixes. Infinity Ward introduced Double XP and Double Weapon XP, added the Transit 213 24/7 playlist, adjusted multiplayer score limits, made several Warzone gameplay changes, and continued improving the game's visual quality.

But there's another major part of this story: Modern Warfare 4 is coming to Nintendo Switch 2, with the Open Beta giving Nintendo players their first opportunity to experience Call of Duty on the system.

In this video, we'll break down the biggest changes from Day 3, why they matter, and what they could mean for the final version of Modern Warfare 4.

Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23, 2026.

00:00The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 open beta is entering its final stretch, and yesterday brought another round of
00:06changes from Infinity Ward.
00:07Day 3 of the beta brought double XP, a new 24-7 playlist, adjustments to Warzone, improvements to visual quality,
00:15and several fixes designed to make the overall experience a little smoother.
00:20But rather than simply running down a list of patch notes, I want to look at what these changes actually
00:24mean for the Modern Warfare 4 beta,
00:26because some of these seemingly small adjustments could have a bigger impact on the experience than you might think.
00:33And there's another major development we need to talk about.
00:36Call of Duty is officially making its return to Nintendo hardware with the Nintendo Switch 2.
00:41So let's take a look at what happened during Day 3, where the beta stands now, and what we can
00:46expect heading into the final day.
00:48Let's start with something that probably got a lot of players back into the beta yesterday.
00:53Double XP and double weapon XP.
00:56Starting at 10am Pacific, players were able to earn twice the normal experience toward their player level and weapons,
01:02and that couldn't have come at a better time.
01:04With players working toward level 30 and the beta forged blueprint,
01:08the double XP event gave people an incentive to spend more time with the game before the beta wraps up.
01:13It also meant that players who had been experimenting with different weapons
01:17could level those weapons faster and get a better feel for their loadouts.
01:20That's particularly useful in the beta because you're not just trying to win matches.
01:25You're trying to figure out what weapons, attachments, movement options, and play styles actually work.
01:31So doubling the progression gives players more opportunities to experiment before the beta ends.
01:37Another notable addition yesterday was Transit 213 24-7.
01:41Instead of waiting for Transit 213 to randomly appear in a playlist rotation,
01:46players could jump into a playlist dedicated to the map.
01:49I think this is one of the more useful additions Infinity Ward could have made during the beta.
01:54If a particular map is generating a larger discussion,
01:57putting it into a 24-7 playlist allows players to spend significantly more time with it.
02:02That means players get a better understanding of the map,
02:05and Infinity Ward gets a much larger sample of feedback.
02:09So if there are spawn issues, frustrating sightlines, areas that aren't being used,
02:14or simply parts of the map that players love,
02:16the developers have more information to work with.
02:19Transit 213 also received some score limit adjustments.
02:23Team Deathmatch increased from 100 points to 150,
02:27while Kill Confirmed went from 75 to 100.
02:30That should allow matches on the map to last a little longer
02:33and give players more time to actually experience the map.
02:37Yesterday also introduced 6 vs. 6 gunfight on Kill Block.
02:42Now if you're unfamiliar with the concept,
02:44gunfight traditionally focuses on smaller scale engagements.
02:47Taking that idea and expanding it into a 6 vs. 6 format
02:51creates a much more chaotic version of the experience.
02:54And that's exactly the kind of thing I like seeing in a beta.
02:57Not everything has to be about the standard multiplayer modes.
03:01Give players different ways to interact with the game's maps, weapons, and movement system,
03:06and you'll get more useful feedback about how the mechanics actually hold up.
03:10Now here's one of those changes that might sound insignificant
03:13until you actually experience the problem.
03:16Infinity Ward improved the way operator models are streamed
03:19when entering the operator selection menu.
03:22The goal is to reduce situations where an operator briefly appears at a lower visual quality
03:27before loading in properly, particularly on less powerful hardware.
03:31And yes, Infinity Ward also continues to work on the game's hair quality.
03:36Apparently getting Price's hair looking right is a mission worthy of its own campaign.
03:41But seriously, visual consistency matters.
03:44When you're playing a modern Call of Duty game,
03:46you expect character models to look sharp.
03:48If an operator suddenly looks like they were rendered on a PlayStation 2 for a few seconds
03:53before the higher quality model appears,
03:56it can make the game feel unfinished.
03:58Infinity Ward says it's also working on improving how hair looks at longer distances before launch.
04:04So don't be surprised if Price comes out of the beta with the best hairline in gaming.
04:09The Day 3 update wasn't just about traditional multiplayer.
04:12Warzone received several adjustments as well.
04:15One of the more practical changes involved ground loot.
04:18Infinity Ward discovered that the interaction radius for ground weapons was larger than intended.
04:23That could result in players accidentally picking up a weapon
04:26when they were actually trying to grab another item nearby.
04:29And if you played a battle royale, you know how annoying that could be.
04:33You're trying to grab ammo or ammunition,
04:35you accidentally pick up a weapon,
04:37you're standing there trying to forget what happened,
04:39and suddenly somebody is shooting at you.
04:41The interaction radius has now been adjusted to make picking up loot more precise.
04:45It's not the most exciting change in the world,
04:48but it's exactly the type of quality of life improvement that can make a game feel better.
04:53Infinity Ward also updated the armor hit damage indicator,
04:57so it's easier to tell when you're damaging an enemy's armor.
05:00There were also adjustments to the blood and death's door visual effects,
05:03but one of the changes that could have the biggest impact on actual gameplay involves screen movement.
05:09Screen shake and gun shake values were also adjusted,
05:12and the reasoning here is pretty straightforward.
05:15Clarity.
05:16Call of Duty is already an incredibly fast game.
05:19When you're trying to track an enemy moving across your screen while firing a weapon,
05:23excessive shaking can make it harder to follow what's happening.
05:27Reducing that visual movement could make gunfights easier to read
05:30and potentially make the overall experience feel less chaotic.
05:33Of course, whether you think it's an improvement will depend on how the game feels when you're actually playing it,
05:39and that's why the beta is so important.
05:41There were also several bug fixes that aren't exactly going to make exciting YouTube thumbnails,
05:46but they're important.
05:48The downed state icon should now properly appear when an opponent is downed.
05:52The loot feed should no longer appear significantly later than the associated pickup,
05:57and an issue that could cause players to get stuck in a loop in the main menu was fixed.
06:01That last one is especially important,
06:03because there's nothing quite like finishing a match, returning to the menu,
06:07and then discovering that the game has decided you're never leaving.
06:10At that point, your opponent isn't another player, it's the menu.
06:14Now let's move away from the Day 3 update for a moment,
06:17because there's another Modern Warfare 4 story that I think deserves attention.
06:22Call of Duty is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
06:24And this isn't just a stripped-down version being released sometime after everyone else gets the game.
06:30Nintendo Switch 2 players got access to the open beta alongside the other supported platforms.
06:35And for Nintendo players, that is a pretty big deal.
06:38The beta doesn't require a pre-order or beta code,
06:41so Nintendo Switch 2 owners could jump into the beta
06:44and see what Modern Warfare 4 actually feels like on the system.
06:47The Nintendo Switch 2 beta includes multiplayer,
06:51the Entrenched Campaign mission,
06:53and Warzone Resurgence on the new Zodiac map.
06:56And Activision is taking advantage of several features built into Nintendo's new hardware.
07:01Players can use Joy-Con 2 mouse controls,
07:04gyro controls,
07:05the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller,
07:07HDR,
07:08and handheld play.
07:09There's also cross-play and cross-progression.
07:12And that last part is particularly important.
07:15Nintendo Switch 2 players aren't being completely separated from everyone else.
07:19They can play with the broader Call of Duty community.
07:22So if you're somebody who owns a Switch 2,
07:24and has been waiting for Call of Duty to come back to Nintendo hardware,
07:28this beta is essentially your first major opportunity
07:30to see what the future of the franchise on Nintendo could look like.
07:34Of course, there's one question that everyone's going to have.
07:37How well does Modern Warfare 4 actually run on Nintendo Switch 2?
07:42That's something the beta is going to help answer.
07:45Infinity Ward is leading development of the game,
07:47while Digital Legends is working with the studio on the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
07:51And Activision says the game is being developed natively for Switch 2.
07:56That's significant because Nintendo's new hardware
07:58is essentially being asked to run a modern Call of Duty experience,
08:02while also supporting features like cross-play and cross-progression.
08:05If the Switch 2 version turns out well,
08:08this could open Call of Duty up to a much larger Nintendo audience.
08:12And that could be one of the biggest stories surrounding Modern Warfare 4
08:16beyond the actual gameplay.
08:18The open beta is scheduled to end September 1st at 10am Pacific Time.
08:22So if you haven't played it yet, there's not much time left.
08:25And that's why these final updates matter.
08:28Infinity Ward isn't simply throwing a bunch of changes into the game
08:31and calling it finished.
08:32The studio is using the beta to gather information.
08:36They're adjusting visual effects,
08:38they're improving interactions,
08:40they're changing playlists,
08:41they're fixing bugs,
08:42they're monitoring feedback,
08:44and they're making adjustments before the full release.
08:47And that's ultimately what I think we should take away from Day 3.
08:50You don't have to be excited about every individual patch note.
08:53Some of these changes are incredibly minor.
08:56But when you put them together,
08:58they show that Infinity Ward is paying attention
09:00to how players are actually experiencing the game.
09:03And that's much more interesting than simply saying,
09:05here's a list of things they fixed.
09:07The real question is whether these changes,
09:09along with everything else Infinity Ward has learned from the beta,
09:13will result in a better game when Modern Warfare 4 officially launches.
09:17And we won't have to wait much longer to find out.
09:19Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23rd, 2026,
09:25with the Nintendo Switch 2 version launching on the same day.
09:28Digital pre-orders also give players access to the full campaign
09:32one week early, beginning October 16th.
09:34So the beta may be coming to an end,
09:36but the real test is just beginning.
09:39But now, I want to hear from you.
09:41Have you been playing the Modern Warfare 4 open beta?
09:44What do you think of the changes Infinity Ward made during day 3?
09:48And if you're playing on Nintendo Switch 2,
09:50how do you think Modern Warfare 4 is performing on the system?
