00:00And I want to take you into the WNBA, which has been just an absolute train wreck this season, or
00:05maybe not how you look at it.
00:07How do you think this league is being run by Kathy Engelberg, the commissioner?
00:12And how do you think this is all being perceived and how it's being handled by the normal national media?
00:17How do you think it's been handled?
00:20I don't think that Kathy has done a great job.
00:22And I don't think Kathy has done a great job, not just because of how some of the media narratives
00:28are being handled.
00:29I think on the other side of it, she doesn't do a great job of making the players feel heard
00:35and spoken for, which while we do know that the commissioner's job is to speak for the owners, you're also
00:41the face of the league.
00:42So you do have to speak up for the players, too.
00:46You do have to lay down the law.
00:47You got to have a spine.
00:49You know, like people can get mad at Roger Goodell.
00:51People get mad at Adam Silver.
00:53But the players still respect the commissioner.
00:55You know, like they might disagree with him, but there is still a respect there.
00:58There's a gravitas to being the commissioner of a league.
01:01And I don't feel like she has that.
01:03And that went back to last year.
01:05Like people, the players have been upset with her for some time.
01:09I think it's now just trickled over to there's other problems that have permeated throughout the media and permeated throughout
01:15the fan bases and the new fans that have spiraled that.
01:18So it's not new that people are upset with Kathy.
01:22And it's not new that the players are upset with Kathy.
01:24They have been pretty vocal that they do not like this leadership.
01:28And I think she's out of there.
01:29I think once her contract is up, they're going to move in a new direction.
01:32And I think they have to.
01:33And I think she did an okay job getting them to this point.
01:36But now they need somebody who can come in there and really say, this is this and this is that.
01:43And we're not apologizing for it.
01:44And if you can be mad about it, you can throw your fits.
01:47Like one thing I think the NFL does at a better level than any league is they will change a
01:53rule.
01:54They will change something, sweeping decision.
01:57And that's that.
01:58And just you're going to deal with it.
01:59And if you don't like it, oh, well.
02:00And you'll adjust.
02:02You'll be fine.
02:03And it's always to better the product.
02:06Right?
02:06And if it doesn't work, they will shift.
02:09Do you remember like a couple years ago?
02:10I mean, it's a while ago now.
02:11But they wouldn't let people put highlights on social media.
02:15Yeah.
02:15And so people were making like the stick figure plays.
02:19And it was like, this is how ridiculous this is.
02:21Like no one is not watching the games because they saw a clip on Twitter.
02:26Like be serious.
02:27And they shifted.
02:28And they adjusted.
02:28They were like, you know what?
02:29This is silly.
02:30We look silly.
02:30We're going to change.
02:31And so I do think that it's been handled poorly this year.
02:34I think there were some opportunities for her and the league to really step up and put
02:41their foot down with some things.
02:43And there were some opportunities missed.
02:45Overall, though, from a basketball perspective, I think it's been an incredible year.
02:49Olivia Miles is a phenomenon.
02:52And no matter what's going on with all the political conversations or the trans conversations
02:56or Angel and Caitlin and blah, blah, blah.
02:58She has been just standing on her on her own, having one of the greatest rookie seasons of
03:03all time and plays, you know, it's just in this.
03:07So it's such like fun, old school spirit.
03:11She's got this look and the goggles and like everyone loves her and they're a great team.
03:15So I do think like basketball wise, it's going to be a really fun playoffs.
03:19I think because so many people have been paying attention throughout the season, I think this
03:25will be a a playoffs that people actually really pay attention to, especially because the fever
03:30have been so good this year.
03:31Caitlin's available.
03:32You know, you're going to have her and Kelsey going up against some of the other best teams in the
03:37league.
03:37So I think it's I think it will end as a very memorable season, both good and bad.
03:44And I think this offseason, there will be some some big changes and big conversations.
03:48But overall, I think you would agree with me on this.
03:52When it comes to a growing league, which they still are, they're only they've only been the
03:57league for 30 years.
03:58This is their 30th season.
04:01No press is bad press like people to talk about it.
04:04We are talking about it on this show.
04:06Everyone is having has a point of view, even if it is not necessarily positive.
04:10You're paying attention.
04:11And we know that transfers to dollars.
04:14So I think overall, the conversation is gotten a little toxic.
04:18But I mean, listen, we have toxic conversations about men's sports all the time.
04:23That's a sign of growth to me when you're having conversations like this all the time.
